Booked a table for my husband and I to celebrate Valentines Day - I could not be more thrilled that this was our restaurant of choice. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, moody without being dark, modern decor and fantastic restaurant flow. I loved the atmospheric feel of upscale dining with a very approachable vibe. The hostess was punctual with our reservation and offered to check my coat for me. The table was always impeccably maintained - someone was there to remove empty plates or unused glasses very quickly and never felt imposed upon or rushed just looked after and maintained. The attention to detail on the dining experience was something you’d think to expect from a 5 star restaurant. Complimentary glass of wine upon our arrival, perfect little starter detail to the evening and soon following an amuse bouche. Our waitress Sarah was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful navigating the menu and helping us make choices throughout. I appreciated that the menu wasn’t $85+ per plate and made me feel as though I didn’t want to wait for another large holiday or big occasion to come visit - the menu pricing is a perfectly acceptable excuse for a mid-week date night. The Roasted Berkshire Pork Collar was beautifully presented on stunning mosaic plates and was packed full of flavor. The volume of food was perfectly reasonable - my husband and I each had our own entree and shared one side of the Roasted Potatoes. The almond cake was delicious although smaller portioned still equally enjoyable. No worries though because to bring the meal to a grand finale we were presented with two complimentary heart shaped macaroons 1 passion fruit and 1 chocolate and strawberry… I am woman enough to admit I asked for a second passion fruit because that little thing was beyond delightful. At the end of the night the hostess went above and beyond to help take photos for my husband and I to remember a very successful Valentine’s Day and of course all the hostesses know the secrets for the most flattering lighting in the restaurant so she helped guide us to the perfect spot. OH and speaking of great lighting… ladies, the bathroom has the best lighting for your bathroom mirror, my outfit is on point Insta worthy photos. I loved our experience here and I cannot wait to go back again...
Read moreI dined several times at this restaurant while staying at the hotel a few months ago. They were, obviously, a new restaurant and working on ironing out the kinks in their operations.
I was having a great experience with the hotel and, at that time, while still a guest in the hotel, wrote a review praising the hotel and hotel staff. I made a small mention in that review about Palato (basically indicating that my awesome experience with the hotel was not what I had experienced when getting dinner from the restaurant).
I had pretty good experiences with the breakfasts. But, my dinner experience did not go well. My food came before my drink. I asked for a set of silverware when I ordered my food, but that didn't come until AFTER the food arrived. And, again, I had to ask for it in order to get it. My drink finally arrived (apparently, the bar manager had thought it more important to conduct training of the new staff instead of delivering my drink while I was one of only 3 guests in the entire restaurant). When I received my check, I learned that the "big rock" ice cube I had requested came with an additional charge (even though the server never mentioned that part). Needless to say, I was not delighted.
After I posted my review of the hotel, where I referenced not being happy with the experience at the restaurant, I received a direct phone call from a restaurant manager (I believe her name was Madison).
Long story short . . . she said my comment on the hotel review prompted her to call me to get my feedback on my experience. I gave it to her and she was very receptive.
Additionally, she made a point to send something nice to my room, which was a gesture I really appreciated.
That said, overall, I give them 5 stars because (1) they were proactive in getting my feedback and open to receiving it and (2) made an attempt to remedy the issue.
Businesses all fall short at some point. I have to give credit where credit is due when a business makes a concerted effort to rectify...
Read moreWe came here for a birthday celebration- it wasn’t the fancy brunch we hoped for. Open dining room and we were seated right by others, like right by them. Offered another table by hostess but it was dirty. It stayed dirty, a spoon laid on the ground by the table our whole meal just being stepped over. Asked for one coffee and one fresh squeezed juice - got two juices and no coffee. ($9 per juice.) Every time water was poured the pitcher dripped all over table and plates. We don’t mind ice cold tap water but the water had a pungent odor, let the server know and they said that’s just how the tap water is. Coffee eventually came out with no sugar or creamer till much later. Ordered mushroom quiche, lobster Benny and a muffin. Food looks much better than it tastes. They wouldn’t do a half order of the cinnamon toast pancakes (understandable, just a bummer) Muffin was dry. Had to ask for coffee refill- rarely checked on. Wasn’t busy at all & plenty of staff nearly 1:1 ratio of staff to guests. Lobster Benny needed to be seasoned very flavorless, lobster was chewy tasted more like crawfish than lobster. Potatoes looked like frozen bag potatoes. Mushroom quiche were better still needed more seasoning, little pepper or something. They knew it was a birthday celebration as that was on our reservation- no mention of this besides from the hostess. This was something we were looking forward to from an article rating it #8 restaurant in the state. Beginning to think I may have been taken in by an ad disguised as an article. It was a beautiful hotel restaurant with a mid hotel breakfast for nearly $100...
