This was a truly terrible experience: I called to order two fajita meals, chips, queso at 4:30 PM yesterday.
I paid through the app and got an email saying my order would be delivered to me in 60 minutes.
About 60 minutes in close to 5pm I got a call from someone at the store saying that their driver had been delayed and my food would get delivered closer to 545.
I waited until 620 and when I had no food, I called the store again to see what the status was. The person at the store told me I just needed to be patient and wait because the driver would show up eventually.
At 6:35 my food got dropped off at my doorstep.
When I unpacked everything immediately, I noticed all of the food was truly cold. It had probably been made sometime around 515, and had ridden around in an uninsulated paper bag for the better part of an hour and 20 minutes. Additionally, all of the food was very lackluster. It was underseasoned and candidly It looked like all of it had come out of a can. I ordered the beef fajitas and the shrimp fajitas, and both meats were way over cooked.
The tortillas were leathery from having been heated and reheated, and then cooled in a bag.
The queso you could tell it was not made from scratch: it tasted like it had white cheddar in it instead of true queso cheese. I think a Tostitos jar of queso from the grocery store would have been better.
My wife and I were both very disappointed as we hoped to try this new restaurant, but we will never be ordering...
Read moreI've been avoiding Fajita Pete's because I'm the type that feels it's a waste of money to buy something you can easily make at home.
I finally got lazy enough and ordered a Fajita MEATS ONLY for 4. Chicken and beef. Came out to around $51.xx after tax and tip. 8 tortillas, chips, red salsa, and a nice amount of chicken and beef. Their flour tortillas are interesting in they are the thinner kind I find at some more authentic Mexican restaurants. And I prefer these as the taste of the tortilla doesn't overwhelm the contents.
Definitely enough to feed 4 people that want to make sizeable meaty fajitas.
Although a bit expensive imo (once again, I'm used to just making it at home as I could probably make this at around 1/2 the cost), wow, these fajitas are great. Great smoke flavor. Marinated nicely. I don't have to do any cleanup. WOW WOW WOW.
I'll be a returning customer. This is a great establishment. Quickly order online (for some reason their phone never works) and hope on over in 20 minutes.
I hate how the convenience of great food is making me lazier and lazier. Good job Fajita Pete's. Glad I gave...
Read moreI really wanted to write a 5-star review for this place because it's close to our house and has easy ordering, but for the money you are better off going somewhere else. Tortillas were stale, or at least I hope that is not their version of "fresh", salsa was mediocre and corn chips that came with the meal were practically inedible. All in all, it wasn't BAD, but in DFW in 2023 there are tons of other places with better fajitas that cost about the same. Compare to Rosa's fresh tortillas and beef that tastes like it just came off the grill (I don't work for or get paid by Rosa's, it's just a great place for fajitas).
And for what it's worth, look at my other reviews, I don't usually take the time unless it's 5 stars, but there are so many reviews for this place saying the food is "excellent". Based on what we had, I felt the need to...
