Objectively rating the Hibachi Entree's: We did not have the sushi and we sat at a non chef hosted table. My party got the Lemon Sesame Chicken and the Sirloin Steak hibachi. This was $72 with a 15% tip, for 2 people (1 soft drink). Hibachi meals come with Salad, Soup, Steamed rice, Shrimp appetizer, and Hibachi vegetables.
I have never written a restaurant review, but the experience of the meal was so poor I had to, especially with the price.
Using a 1-10 scale: Salad: 3/10, Lettuce was decent, too much ginger dressing. Soup: 1/10, Thought it would miso or seaweed (definitely not miso). Not sure what it was too be honest. I asked the waiter and they said Cucumber? Overall tasted like hot water. Steamed rice: 2/10, You can upgrade this to fried rice if you want to spend $4-10 extra. I strongly do not recommend doing this. The fried rice had no flavor to the point of being essentially steamed rice but browned in a pan. Occasional peppercorn. Shrimp appetizer: 1/10, It is two pieces of cold shrimp on your main entre's plate. Lemon Sesame Chicken: 1/10, Over cooked dry chicken. Peppercorn and soy sauce for flavoring with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. THE ONLY WAY this was palatable was to drown it in two of the given sauces they provide (wasabi and soy sauce mixed/ a ginger sauce. Both of these were best part of the entire night and they weren't that good). Sirloin Steak: 6/10, Can't give it much higher because of no flavor, but was cooked incredibly well at medium rare. Hibachi Vegetables: 2/10, You are given a lot which is nice. They had no flavor aside from the natural taste of the given vegetable. I like vegetables simple so normally that's not an issue for me but with everything else being completely bland, this is no break for blandness.
I can safely say I will never go back and the food was incredibly low quality. Add in the fact it was $72 dollars and oh my lord I will never even think about going back. Below is a small review of the environment, but its a bit more subjective.
This part is a bit more subjective as some people will have different ideas of what a nice environment is. Environment: 4/10, Décor was okay, but a bit old. Some shelves completely missing décor. Front tables being used for gift bags for managers kid at school? (may have misheard this but she was incredibly loud so I don't think I did). Manager blowing in children's whistle during meal. Table old. VERY NICE plating for sushi and soy sauce etc. Black...
Read moreMy wife and I went in for hibachi (I got sushi) in which you pay a premium for the chef to cook the food you order in front of you. We've gone to several places and always told them about her shellfish allergy. They usually cook the red meat and chicken first then the sea food. After we told the server, she came back and said they'd cook it in the back. My wife then said, she'd prefer to have them cook it at our table(again, the reason we were there).
When the chef came out, we were watching as he put all the sea food out and then the chicken and steak. We again, told him about my wife's allergy at which time he looked at his sheet and said something about not being able to read it.
He then cooked some more and went back to the kitchen and said they'd cook it there and bring it out. He continued to cook the other food as my wife waited. Her food finally arrived after all the others had their food and I had finished mine.
We were the last to finish eating as they brought the checks and started to clear the tables. She had to tell the young man she was still eating twice as he took her plate with food on it. We asked the server about the check which still showed full price for all the food. As we were talking again, a second person cleared the table and took my wife's plate with food on it.
Upon speaking to the young lady who was in charge(not the manager I don't think) she explained that they can't discount anything and when we mentioned the plate, she said the server had stated there wasn't any meat on it. There was. We were instant that we didn't get what we paid for and she went to "talk" to someone.
Upon return, she said she was only able to discount 10% on only the hibachi dish which was less than $3 in total! Not only did they argue with us about clearing the plates, they couldn't do anything for us since they weren't "Corporate" like the others per the person we spoke to.
If you decide to go, please be very clear with your server and cook right away or don't pay for the hibachi show and just get it all cooked in the kitchen for much less. We will NOT...
Read moreOverall our lunch was pretty good. Really enjoyed the soup and salad, some of the best soup I've tasted at a place like this in Texas...ever. Rice was good and hot, they put it in a bowl, so it stays hot. However it was a touch bland. Steaks were cooked correctly, I found the chicken to be a tad dry, but still good. Vegetables were sort of boring, zucchini and onions, meh. At the very end he offered bean sprouts that were tossed on the grill for about 10 seconds. This is not a place for a show, he did a quick train with onions and that was it. Our server was good, kept drinks filled, but if she ever spoke I never heard her. It wasn't loud in the restaurant, I just think she never said anything or at least spoke so softly I (we, my husband, son and his fiancé) never heard her speak. My two reason for an overall 4 star rating are 1-We were packed at the table tighter than a container of sardines, I'm talking I couldn't even lift my elbows after my husband tried to give me a little more room. It was ridiculous. And 2-The server came around shoving to go boxes at us less than 30 seconds after the chef was done cooking. I'm still eating, I'll probably want one but not now. My son took two and I ended up holding a to go box while I was trying to eat. I guess I could have put it on the grill, maybe that would teach them not to rush people. That was the biggest annoyance of the entire meal. If I had been in charge of paying the bill the tip would have been smaller because of the rushing us to box up our food and go. Will I go back? If ever down in the area with the family and get hungry for that type food, maybe. But I will certainly tell the server to take that to go...
