A Memorable Morning at Desi Chowk – A Flavourful Slice of Hyderabad in Frisco.
During my recent visit to Dallas from Abu Dhabi, I had the pleasure of exploring Desi Chowk in Frisco for their much-talked-about Unlimited Breakfast Buffet, and I must say — this was not just a meal, it was a soulful experience.
Being originally from Hyderabad, India, it was instantly heartwarming to know that the entire Desi Chowk team shares the same roots. This connection added an emotional layer to our visit, making it feel like a nostalgic return to home-cooked flavors — only this time, in the heart of Texas.
We were a group of family members and decided to try everything on the breakfast menu — and by everything, I truly mean everything: • Idli – soft and airy, just the way it should be; • Vada – perfectly crispy on the outside and melt-in-mouth inside; • Bonda – golden, crunchy and deliciously spiced; • Puri Bhaji – the puris were puffed to perfection and the bhaji was flavorful, with the right balance of mild spice and comfort; • Dosa – crisp edges, tender center, and that rich potato masala filling — a classic done right; • Upma – light, fragrant, and not sticky — exactly the texture and flavor balance one hopes for; • Pongal – warm, comforting, and with that authentic touch of ghee and black pepper that makes all the difference.
The chutneys that accompanied each item deserve a special mention — they were nothing short of breathtakingly tasty, each one distinct, fresh, and bursting with flavor. From the coconut chutney to the tomato and peanut varieties — every dip transported us back to Sunday mornings in Hyderabad.
Now, coming to the true highlight of our experience — Akshita. From the moment we stepped in, she welcomed us with a graceful smile and a warmth that felt genuine and heartfelt. Despite being slightly late for the breakfast buffet hours, Akshita, in her sweet and accommodating manner, made sure we were still included. This gesture alone speaks volumes about the hospitality standards she upholds.
Her attentiveness, soft-spoken nature, and cheerful demeanor made us feel valued and at ease. In a space where customer service can often feel robotic or forced, Akshita stood out with her authenticity and charm. MashaAllah, her presence truly lights up the place — she's the kind of person you’d want to meet again simply because of the positivity she brings. Without exaggeration, Akshita is a real asset to Desi Chowk, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that she is one of the key reasons I would return to the restaurant.
The ambience of Desi Chowk is just right — clean, spacious seating, a welcoming layout, and subtle South Indian décor. Music videos playing on TV screens added a touch of nostalgia, especially for me, as they brought back memories of my friends from Warangal, who introduced me to the world of Telugu cinema. The vibes were festive, yet comforting.
While water is available complimentary, they also serve authentic masala chai and Irani chai at a nominal cost — a great way to end your meal on a cozy note.
To sum it all up — Desi Chowk isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience — a carefully plated reminder of home, served with warmth and authenticity. Delicious food, heartwarming hospitality, and a vibe that stays with you. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in or around Frisco — and if you're lucky, Akshita might just be the one to greet you, and make your day a little brighter.
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5/5) Will I visit again? Absolutely — for the food, the feels, and especially for Akshita’s...

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a catering service from Desi Chowk for a 15 people gathering, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience.
Having previously enjoyed their delicious chicken and mutton biryani at the restaurant, I had high expectations, and Desi Chowk kept them all.
Their holiday package with the selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes was impressive and thoughtfully prepared.
Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the taste and quality of the food.
Not only was the food incredibly tasty, but it was also plentiful. The portions were generous and more than sufficient to satisfy all our guests.
If you’re looking for a catering service that delivers both in taste and service, I highly recommend Desi Chowk. They have certainly won a loyal customer in me, and I look forward to many more delightful dining experiences with them.
Thank you, Desi Chowk, for making our event memorable with your exceptional food...
Read moreI've now been twice to this place, once for their buffet breakfast and once for their biriyani deal on wednesdays. Both times I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Their vada and boonda were some of the better ones ive had in dallas, despite it being a buffet. And getting a fresh poori was icing on the cake. Their chutneys are also much better than the default youd find at a swadeshi. Only thing I wouldn't get next time is their made to order dosa. It was more homestyle where I'm looking for a super thin dosa. I'd rather save the space for seconds of everything else.
The biriyani was solid, but the size for the price is really what makes it stand out. Kinda hard to compare it below anywhere else nearby. The chicken one had a whole thigh and drumstick burried under a massive amount of spiced rice. I had leftovers just from 1 of the two orders. Hope they are able to keep the consistency up and get more people...
