First off I hate writing bad reviews. If I'm ever going to go back to this place with my friends again this needs to be mentioned. I came in on a Thursday evening around 8:00. I was arived by myself and was expecting some friends celebrating a birthday. I went to the bar and asked her if I could sit at a high top and if they were going to take care of us. She stated no, and a server would be taken care of us. I hadn't eaten so I was looking at the menu being my first time there a young lady named Noelle came and greeted me. I asked her about the local sliders I decided to go for them with an order of onion rings. I'm still enjoying my beer, food comes out very promptly. My buddy arrives he sits down he orders a beer and I go ahead and get us two shots. While enjoying the large portion of onion rings given to us the rest of my party started slowly trickling in. I've been there about an hour now. I've eaten three sliders in half a portion of onion rings. My buddy order some beer for him and his wife both of which were wrong. We all tasted it trying to determine if it was the right beer he ordered and it wasn't. We decided to order another shot and Noelle looks at me... And says "I need you to eat more." I told her that I had already eaten then she goes to quote a TABC law. Apparently a new law has passed that you can only have two drinks an hour. I've been in this industry for 25 years I've yet to hear about this. I even tried looking it up on the TABC website and there is nothing new regarding this. All of my friends look at me perplexed. So being the good guy, I order a basket of fries. Another large portion. So I asked the waitress now can I order something? So I ordered a another tall beer and another shot of Jameson. She then tells me "I can only have one or the other." My buddy, still trying to find out what his beer is, looks up at me confused still and my other buddy sitting next to me is laughing. So I went with the Jameson. The guest of honor had arrived and we all kind of decided that we were going to leave because this place wasn't able to accommodate us accordingly. We had separate checks some of the drinks we ordered were misplaced and a couple of them were unaccounted for. Specifically shots of Jameson. It seems two more were added to the check without knowledge or partaking. We decided we didn't want to argue and we all paid the table and went our separate ways. I don't understand if this is a company policy for a place having 30 beers on draft two beers an hour or two drinks an hour is an odd way to promote such a bar. If it's a ploy to eat that subpar food there are different tactics. This was a very very bad experience. First time I was there. Some of my friends that have been there before have enjoyed themselves for many hours here. My advice... Don't tell your staff about made-up TABC laws. It's simply not true. Servers should never be quoting laws policies or any other semantics to guests. Certainly if they working in a place that has over 30 craft beers and are not Certified Beer Servers "Cicero". If they were trained appropriately, simple issues like this would not occur and you would not lose potential...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me first say that I consider myself a restaurant critic and my standards for such are substantial. Kelly's styles itself as a craft Tavern which to me and my wife implys that their food is all made on site. This to small/craft kitchen standards and by definition meaning should be made on site not warmed from a package. The tortillas for my wife's Brisket tacos where not in house made by taste and more then obviously from restaurant supply company. The brisket although tender also did not have a authentic wood smoked flavor. It tasted like allegro or Figaro smoke flavoring was added as it had a slightly chemical smoke tang to it. My Buffalo meat loaf was pretty good but again I was not in anyway "wowed" by anything we had here. Overall we came in with high expectations and where disappointed by what we received. That out of the way. The decore was extremely incongruent it looked like the inside was partially remodeled maybe twice. The two Crystal chandeliers did not match any of the other decore. Booths and tables on one side did not match the other. Looked like the entire bar area had been updated or remodeled and they forgot to do the rest of it.It was also extremely loud with bad acoustics and hard to even carry on a conversation with a person 2 ft across from you. Okay now for the good points. Service was fast and efficient. We were seated immediately. Staff was upbeat and friendly (Rocky) our server was gracious and knowledgeable about the items that we ordered. Staff all seamed attentive and helpful. The bar area is awesome and the selection both in draft beer and all other types of liquor are extensive. Kudos in that area. Over all the price was good for what we received, but I would personally rather pay more for better flavorful foods. Overall this establishment is mediocrity at its finest, which in the Dallas market is not going to get it. You have a great location and a decent building I would seriously revamp the menu with authenticity made in house created selections and redecorate to take a spacific theme in one direction or another to give your establishment it's own character. If anything we have inferred on this review is in anyway in accurate I invite management to contact me and I will review it. Good luck...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here after hearing good things but truthfully i am so disappointed. I donāt usually write reviews and itās taken me 3 separate visits of being let down to post this. The first time i came i ordered the flat iron steak and i was excited but that changed after i got my entree and the entire thing was cold, and my steak overcooked. fine maybe it was an off day, the desert was good so i came back in hopes for redemption. Second time, ordered the flat iron steak again this time with mashed potatoes, and it was given to me cold⦠again. not only that, but it definitely was not 10oz like listed on the menu. i mentioned it to my waiter and was not offered for it to be remade or even an apology, although who wants to eat cold steak? after that visit i had almost given up on kellyās but my boyfriend came to visit from out of town and it was the only place open that was close by, so we came in hopes of having some decent dinner.. third times a charm right? nope, not in this case. not only was my waitress and the other man who was waiting us both rude, and very quick to leave the table (i couldnāt even finish my sentences), but iām not sure whatās going on in the kitchen but it just seems impossible for them to keep their food warm long enough to bring it from the kitchen to the table. nonetheless, i do not recommend kellyās if you want decent food and friendly service because this place apparently doesnāt have either of those things and i am extremely disappointed because i really did try to like this place.
UPDATE: The owner replied to my review and asked me to reach out via email, which i didā¦. waiting a while and didnāt get a response. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and sent a second email with hopes of a follow up because i really want to like this place, but havenāt been contacted. so my review will...
