I've been to the Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in Carrolton, TX before, but this was my first time visiting Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in Frisco, TX. In comparison, the food at this location was better because it tasted more fresh, but the customer service and cleanliness could be better.
We visited over the weekend and didn't have a long wait time after signing in. However, when our number was called, we waited at the counter for what seems like 4 minutes before we were welcomed. There were other staff members who saw us wait but didn't bother to check on us, even when it was crowded. By the time we were greeted, they asked the group behind us if they're before our number, so we waited a bit longer. When we were seated, we weren't asked if it was our first time and whatnot. It was just assumed that we knew what we were doing. We weren't told what to do (though luckily, we knew what to do). I witnessed a couple tried to remove the plate of sushi from the belt unsuccessfully, making them frustrated.
Because of inflation, the prices of food had increased from a few months ago. Though a bit pricey now, most of the food was still delicious. Although, there was a plate that I requested via the machine that should be hot but was cold and tasted old--the Popcorn Shrimp Sushi. There was also another dish that didn't have the same taste as the next same dish -- Salmon with Umami. The dishes just didn't taste the same, although it was the same exact dish.
The place was a bit dirty. There were flies flying around, and because the staff didn't tell customers how the revolving sushi bar works, customers touch the entire plate, not being able to remove it and just leaving it there for the next customer.
Overall, I liked that there was no waiting but I suppose there's a reason for it. The food was fairly fresh, for the most part, but the customer service was bad and there were flies. I don't think I'd visit the Frisco...
Read moreI have eaten at both the Legacy and Old Denton Dr. location, always busy and crowded with a good selection of revolving items and happy looking, cheerful employees.
I decided to try the newer Frisco location on Warren Dr. for a late lunch on Sat, Jan 4 and noticed that this location wasn’t as busy and didn’t seem to have as many offerings as the other two locations, plus some of the plates didn’t look as fresh as the other two locations. Somehow it just didn’t feel as nice. Employees in front and in the kitchen looked tired and no one was smiling. What’s up with that?
But what really concerned me was that my waiter kept coughing!
I should have walked immediately out of the restaurant... because that is the worst way to spread germs and disease! Sure enough, I came down ill a few days later with a nasty virus.
It’s the only public place I’d been to in a few days and I had to pin point anything, being coughed directly on is a pretty good indicator, unless the food preparers in the back were also ill and coughing on food.
This is so dangerous for a restaurant, because you can quickly infect many! My waiter was a nice, young man who brought my water, but kept coughing as he talked to me (and he was very apologetic), but he had no business working. Whether they were short handed or he just needed the hours, there is no excuse for having a sick and contagious employee on duty and posing a health risk to your customers.
Shame on the restaurant or his manager for allowing any employee who is coughing to work! I will never return to...
Read moreI regularly stop by this shop during my grocery runs and the services is very fast! I can see why the restaurant is so popular. Though because they're so popular, they've also implemented a phone app to get into the waitlist without being at the site. So you can spend your waiting time driving rather than waiting at the front room.
The service is done very quickly, and thanks to their drink robots, customers are sat down and addressed at a steady rate. I can get in and out in about 30 minutes. Once you sit down, you're free to pick up some sushi on the belt or ask for some directly from the staff in the back and they'll send it to you directly on a separate belt. Though since everyone on your side of room is using the same service belt, it's important to keep an eye out for your order as it will hold up the rest of the orders if it's left sitting on the service belt.
The sushi is currently priced at roughly $3 per plate with various styles. There's a great variety of sushi as well as soup noodles and other eateries as well. So it'll help everyone, whether or not they like raw fish or not. They also offer seasonal specials on a near monthly basis, so there will be new items available on a limited stock.
I look forward to stopping by the restaurant when time and energy allows. The only caveat to watch out for is sometimes when asking for hot water, it's served as hot tea instead and the parking can get crowded...
