PSA WARNING: Deadly metal wire found in a bowl of ramen at Marufuku Ramen at 9292 Warren Parkway in Frisco causing injury.

A warm bowl of ramen sounded great on a cold evening, but finding a piece of sharp metal wire tangled in the black mushrooms that cut the inside of my mouth is not. Hubby called the server over, and the server promptly yanked the wire out of my hand and headed to the back. Instead of a manager immediately coming to the table to see if I was ok, we sat there for a few minutes. Hubby had to go to the counter and ask for a manager. The manager came to our table, and NEVER inquired whether I was ok. Instead, he gave an excuse that the wire is from the metal noodle strainer.

  • If you look at the wire, it is a thin tie wire for food that was not removed, not one from a noodle stainer. You can plainly see that the ends of the deadly wire was a twist tie. Compare the deadly wire to a toothpick and bread tie, and you will see how small, but deadly it is.*

The "manager" blamed it on the stainer manufacturer and any one else, but not his staff. I am glad that it only cut the inside of my mouth. When I felt the sharp edge, I spit it out without swallowing it, which would have been a catastrophic event that would definitely have caused hospitalization.

Hubby asked for the deadly wire back, and the "manager" told him it was thrown away. After three more requests, the "manager" reluctantly returned the deadly wire.

This incident is total human error that left this deadly foreign object in the food. I would definitely NOT return and would share with family, friends, co-workers, church members, social media, and anyone else, so that I may...

Good food and atmosphere. I got the Tonkotsu DX, which has two slices of chashu, nori, mushrooms, corn, as well as a very generous inch-thick slice of braised pork belly, for $17. Kae-dama (noodle refill) is $2.50. As far as cons go, the broth, while good, was a bit too strong on the bonito and was sweeter than I'm used to. The corn may be partly to blame for that, but I think there was something more. I ordered "ultra spicy" and the broth had a slight pooling of orange oil at the top, but I did not notice much spice as I was eating the soup.. perhaps they gave me Medium and determined the ghost pepper sauce add-on ($0.50) would be enough. (Comparing this to Ichiran, Ichiran's spice seems to stick to the noodles so there's not much difference between eating noodles and drinking broth) The ghost pepper sauce tasted and looked similar to Melinda's ghost pepper sauce (brand, check Kroger), and they give you a very small cup with an even smaller amount in it. When I got down to the broth at the end, it ended up having a good amount of heat. Not near the likes of other kinds of shops in the area (a certain Taiwanese beef noodle soup shop comes to mind) but it was a good spice for ramen shop standards, probably mostly to do with the ghost pepper sauce. Kae-dama also includes some more green onion and sesame seeds, and by the end of my meal there were probably three whole (sliced) green onions still in the broth. If you like green onion, you're home.

Overall I enjoyed it, and the braised pork was definitely worth the price. I...

I had the pleasure of dining here for a Memorial Day dinner with an old friend visiting from out of town. He had been missing good ramen, and I had heard good things about Marufuku.

We were seated immediately upon arrival and our server, Zoe, was very kind and offered to give us a full overview of the menu as it was our first time in. I ordered some Hoji Cha and my friend got the Black Yuzu Sake. We decided to split an order of the Marufuku Bites and each got a the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen DX.

The drinks arrived and they were excellent. Hot tea was exactly what I wanted and they were happy to refill as needed. Zoe also explained to us that the sake could be drunken with the wooden box that was carrying the shot glass. That was an eye opening tech! My friend tried it and enjoyed it.

The Marufuku Bites (their pork bao buns) arrived first. The buns were very fresh and the meat was delectible. It was a good thing we split the order to allow us to save room for dessert!

Our ramens arrived shortly after and they were EXQUISITE. In my opinion, the Tonkotsu DX is definitely the way to go. The chasu was great, but the braised pork belly added through the DX order was game changing. The meat was so good. I also don't often drink much of the broth in my ramen, but this time around I had to. Everything was excellent.

I'm definitely coming back. I want to try other items on the menu, but I may not be able to resist getting the Hakata...

I've been trying a number of new ramen places in the Preston/121 area and ate at Marufuku Ramen for the first time today. The Marufuku Bites are similar to chashu buns, with the pork belly diced instead of sliced like other restaurants. Good flavor, although a little tricky to eat due to the diced vs sliced pork. I had the Tonkotsu DX ramen, which is like the standard Tonkotsu, but with corn, seaweed, and braised pork belly added. The broth was very smooth and rich. Noodles had good texture (you can specify various levels of noodle-doneness if you like). I chose to have my bowl with no spice added by the kitchen and customizing at the table with the small container of ground red pepper seasoning. The spice isn't as strong as that found at Ichiran (Tokyo) so I went through a few iterations of adding pepper to find my desired level of heat. I also added the spice at the table so I could sample and evaluate the Tonkotsu broth itself before spicing it up. Ingredients were very fresh. Nice to have a few options now of authentic tonkotsu ramen in Frisco as previously the closest option was in Carrollton. I didn't have a chance to try the chashu rice, though it is probably promising if they use the same chashu found in the Marufuku Bites. Will have to sample that and the karaage rice on a future trip. Friend had the Chicken Paitan DX ramen and said the broth was very good. The accompanying chicken leg was huge.
