I've been to Snooze A.M. Eatery before in Austin, TX, and had an enjoyable experience, and the food was good. I came here today and had a very different experience.
When I first walked, even though I was on the waitlist, I was able to get a seat immediately for my party of two. Our server was a lady named Aneta. Off the bat, I knew this was going to be a flat server experience because she just handed us the end and swung back around about 5 minutes later and asked what we wanted to drink in a disinterested way. I suggested we start off with water while we figured out exactly what we want to drink. We were served water, and I asked for straws. Her expression was as if I shouldn't have asked for any straws because it was unreasonable. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there.
My wife and I ordered the Spuds Deluxe and the Protein Trio Omelette. For beverages, we ordered a Latte flavored with caramel, Vanilla, and Cranberry juice. I will say I wish I was told about the 75-cent upcharge per flavor for my latte upfront. My latte was okay. No real complaints there. It's not the most impressive, but it's far from terrible. I have nothing bad to report on the Cranberry juice.
My wife's Spuds Deluxe was served with spinach and barbocoa as enhancements. She said her meal was lacking flavor. Since Aneta didn't check in with us to see if we needed anything at this point since we received our food I had to ask the lady that greeted us for some Yellow Bird hot sauce. We had asked Aneta before, but she initially brought us Tabasco; then I asked if we could have one of the other options available. Which she did bring, but my wife wanted the Yellow Bird Serrano hot sauce. Shout out to our greeter for making this happen for us!!! My wife's food was getting cold waiting on this exact hot sauce. Her meal was lacking salt as well. Overall she only ate half, because she didn't enjoy it.
My Protein Trio Omelette was quite delicious. The omelet was cooked perfectly; the meats were delicious, and the eggs were very flavorful. I added salt and pepper to mine, but I don't think this omelet is seasoned beforehand, which is okay with me. My hash browns were good, too. I prefer mine fried hard but it was okay fried medium as the outside was crispy. My toasted English muffin was perfect and the accompanying jam was delicious. I really enjoyed my meal and definitely recommend this.
So, a few things occurred that affected my experience. My salt shaker has a strand of hair hanging out of it from the inside. Since our waiter still hadn't checked in with us by this time,, we asked the bus guy to clean this salt shak,e, and he hardly obliged. We had a spider lowering itself from its web in between us. I removed it and left it in the napkin for proper removal. My wife doesn't like spiders, however. Aneta eventually checked in, but by this time, others had assisted us with our needs. Aneta brought us a ketchup bottle that was barely filled; I had to ration my usage as I ate my meal for fear of squirting the last amount of ketchup left in the bottle. We did want to put in a to-go order for our kids, but Aneta just brought the bill without asking if we needed anything else. This was presented in an unprofessional way.
I did let Aneta know why I felt the service was bad. She told me this is how things are done and shrugged my concerns off. I addressed her because it wasn't egregious enough to complain to a manager, but she showed me through her responses and body language she didn't care.
April, the manager, did save the day. She listened to my concerns and went above and begin by adjusting our bill and throwing in a coupon. I also found she used to manage the previous Snooze A.M. I went to at the N.Lamar location in Austin. She was very accommodating and promised to Coach Aneta. Because of her intervention, I'll be back here and I'll recommend eating here. If there's an issue, bring it up to April. She values...
Read moreI happen to agree with Cloe and the other patrons that was ignored and greeted with horrible service. "Why go to a place to eat where you feel unwanted?" As my group (girls time out) first sat down, I got our waitress Aneta's attention to see if she would please take a fun girls pic for us? This is where the trouble all began. She looked at me for a brief moment and then ignored me and walked away. *I was confused because I knew she heard me because she briefly looked my way.
Everything went down hill after that. When it was my turn to order, I mentioned I prefer Not to have mixed peppers in my scramble. Don't care for red peppers. "I'll take green only please & chopped potatoes & spinach."
Anita was so unfriendly! And very unprofessional. She kept making faces. So I said if you don't put green peppers in scramble? it's okay I'll just do spinach & potatoes. She said "we do green" She proceeded to take a different person's order and prior to her leaving our table, I tried to get her attention, and again she pretended to not hear me... so my friend tapped her & asked if I could add 2 regular plain pancakes to my order? and she breathed hard! And Litterally rolled her eyes at me! I was shocked & stunned.
Mind you, I was not the only one at our table that asked for a certain thing in the scramble. And we have the option to ask for 3 items. So I didn't understand the distain? And didn't think I was being difficult in anyway. And again... i didn't understand the attitude? I had even told her that if it was too much of a bother, than to leave off the peppers altogether.
Well as you can probably imagine by now, low & behold when my food arrives... what is in my scramble but only red peppers. (No diced potatoes, no green peppers and very little spinach! ) mostly eggs & FULL of red peppers. She came back to our table to check in and i told her that I got a whole bunch of red peppers in my eggs and no green, also no diced potatoes. She said "sorry, I told them green." Then she walked off!!!
No, she did not take my plate back to fix it. :( She just walked away and she saw me plucking out all the red peppers! And my card was charged $12.75 for that red pepper scramble at the end of my meal. I can honestly say... this was the worst experience I feel I've had at a restaurant ever! I don't ever remember anyone sighing and rolling there eyes at me. And ignoring me, EVER!
I feel SO very sad writing this report about snooze, because I've been to 3 other locations in the past and have had nothing but absolutely AMAZING service and food! And I was so embarrassed that day because I told my girlfriends what a FANTASTIC place snooze was! Mainly due to the service I had received in "Other" locations in the past. 2 in Austin and the one in Addison. Flat AMAZING! Eventhough they were extreemly busy! I have told so many people about snooze and how wonderful a place! And then this happens to me at this location??? Very dishartning... I will now drive all the way to Addison if i want snooze again.
And the MGR needs to follow Aneta around and check on her! Because even though my friends didn't get hissed at. Etc... And their food came correct... Anita still wasn't necessarily 'friendly'...
Read moreI want to make it clear that we've eaten here several times, and the food has always been fantastic. The issue we had today was regarding service and, more specifically, the hostess. When my family walked thru the doors, it was quite obvious that the restaurant was busy, and there would most likely be a wait. We approached the hostess, and she asked how large our party was, in which I replied we have 4 plus a baby. When she delivered her response that it would be a two to two and a half hour wait, it felt as if she was irritated that we even wasted her time asking. This is what I have a problem with, and it seems as if the service industry has lost the sense of service. I realize that the restaurant is busy. However, the point of a hostess is to accommodate the guests with a happy and cheerful demeanor. When the person/persons that are employed to greet the guests speak to patrons of the restaurant in this manor it typically means the individual responsible for managing the restaurant is not holding the staff accountable for providing excellent customer service. I realize they were busy and every seat in the house was full. However, this is to be expected on a Saturday at 10:45 am at a restaurant who's primary business is breakfast and brunch. The name the restaurant is Snooze indicating sleep in and catch a late breakfast to get your day started. The servers rely on tips to make their income and this type of business opportunity should get them fired up to provide amazing service and to turn tables quick. I'm quite confident that Saturday and Sunday are there two biggest days and create more money opportunity for the servers and the restaurant to fill there pockets with cash. Bottom line I'm very disappointed in our experience and frustrated with employees that don't see every guest as an opportunity to create an experience and in turn make...
