Please don’t freak out if someone asks if you want a “fish waffle.” No, it’s not some bizarre seafood experiment gone wrong. At SomiSomi, a “fish waffle” is a ticket to dessert paradise! These little waffle cones, shaped like adorable fish, are stuffed with sweet fillings and topped with soft-serve ice cream, creating a dessert so good you’ll question why you ever settled for boring old cones.

Let’s start with the taiyaki itself. It’s like the waffle cone had a glow-up and decided to be the star of the show. Warm, golden, and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, it’s what dreams are made of. You get to choose a filling for the fish’s mouth (Nutella, custard, red bean, or taro), and let me tell you—when that gooey center hits, it’s like a hug for your taste buds.

But wait, there’s more. The ice cream is the diva on this dessert stage, with flavors ranging from chocolate and vanilla to fancy ones like matcha, ube, and black sesame. And they don’t stop there. Oh no, they pile on the toppings like they’re trying to make your dentist rich—Oreo crumbs, sprinkles, mochi, fresh fruit, you name it.

Our go-to creation? A taiyaki stuffed with Nutella, topped with a matcha and vanilla swirl, and finished off with Oreo crumbles. It’s warm, it’s cold, it’s crunchy, it’s creamy—it’s basically the edible equivalent of a rom-com where everyone lives happily ever after.

The Fullerton location is right on Wilshire Walk, making it a perfect spot for a fun date or a stroll with a special someone—or, let’s be real, wrangling your kiddos while they argue over toppings. It’s a great vibe all around, whether you’re impressing someone with your dessert skills or just trying to keep your kids entertained for five minutes.

Watching the taiyaki being cooked fresh is part of the magic. The kids love it, and you’ll hear things like, “Wow, this is so cool!” followed by, “Can I eat yours too?” (No, I said no!) Plus, the whole dessert is so Instagram-worthy it practically begs to be photographed before it’s devoured.

If you’re looking for a dessert that’s part food, part fun, and all delicious, SomiSomi is where you need to be. Just prepare yourself for the inevitable sugar rush, because after one bite, you’ll want to order another. And maybe another. Who needs dignity when there’s fish-shaped...

Great service by a great team. There was a minor mistake that was quickly and happily rectified. This shined as many other employees at various establishments we have experienced recently get defensive and become stand off ish when they make a mistake or something is wrong. Not here, very quick and happy to fix. I ordered 3 taiyaki soft serves and 2 warm filled taiyaki. Oreo soft serve with custard taiyaki, my most favorite combo. The oreo soft serve was delicious! Very clean and dense with that highly distinguishable oreo flavor. The fish waffle had very good flavor and texture, not too sweet and not bland. Slightly crispy on the outside but also nice and subtly chewy, very good. The custard is also light a delicious. Not heavy like many other custards and not too sweet like most custards. Truly delicious and a great compliment in this wheelhouse. Oreo with Nutella filled taiyaki: similar to the last but with delicious warm Nutella, I wonderful combo Milk tea/sesame swirl: not quite what I expected, the sesame threw me off but if you like sesame, its what you'd expect. I had this with a custard taiyaki Warm taiyaki with Red Bean: very delicious, i recommend ordering a warm taiyaki in addition to whatever else you order. This is not to be missed! The warmth is what really sets this apart from all other menu items. Warm taiyaki with custard: my most favorite! Warm delicious waffle as described, filled with the custard I described, a DOUBLE WIN! Warm Taiyaki with Nutella: exactly what I described about the warm delicious waffle, stuffed with warm Nutella. Cmon...

Came here twice and even though the food is decent the workers act like they have no manners. My first experience there the employees pretended like they could not pronounce my name even though my name is pretty common and I repeated it to them several times. They forgot my order and (while yelling out the wrong name ) asked me to repeate my order again. I decided to give them another chance and this time the girl that made my order acted like she didn't want to hand me my order even though there is a designated pick up area..... she had me wait for each item to come out and gave me a hard time about closing the boxes to my orders even after I asked. (She didn't close the boxes she had already set on the counter only the order she had just finished). Overall I will not be back and I do not and will not recommend anyone to go here if you don't want...
