We came for a birthday lunch, and it’s a good thing we had plenty of time to sit and visit, because there was very little in the way of service. We had started with one waitress, got our appetizer order in, and waited. She came back later and took the main order, and then we waited. Then we wound up with a second waitress, with no one telling us they had switched off. This was after I tried to wave anyone down get more water, and finally had to go to the counter to ask for some. The Cobb salad was pretty good. The bacon was plentiful and delicious— likely thick-sliced applewood smoked bacon. The turkey was hardly capable of being detected as being meat. It was hard to tell whether it was ham or what; it almost looked plastic, (pic included). I didn’t eat it; hubby did, when I took it home. The bruschetta bread was light-textured and crisp, with abundant chopped grape tomatoes. Nice sweet balsamic vinegar to top. Stuffed mushrooms were flavorful and nicely textured The lemon bar was the best! Perfect lemoniness, light creamy texture but with a thin crisp crackle crust top edge. The bottom crust was perfectly crisp and buttery. All in all, I suspect they are short-staffed, and the waitresses are tired and overworked. We still tipped them 15% out of pity.

Quaint , quiet place being a throwback in time ........ Being to Folsom Powerhouse ( first ever to use 60 Hertz as new technology in 1895 delivering to Sacramento ) Visited July 23-2024 @ 10:00 . Is unfair that not a 4 1/2 star is rendered in system... Was brought a glass of ice water before being offered any drinks , in retrospect she was a very perceptive waitress noticing that I was about to break a sweat. Easily becoming a 5 star review for service ... ... Notice in pic that the location is grandiose - South facing and the slighlty wet patio - perfect for a summer outing -. A mini bouquet in every table indoors adding to the ambiance. ..... Arched , brick old building as shown ... Food was delicious .First time ever in my 60+ reviews history that the cook came to my table to thank me for letting him cook to my order . Only thing CLASHING is the hanging pictures . Right motif - food/veggies ; but modernistic colors . Colors are too vibrant , need subdued colours to a full epic throwback in time

This is another unique restaurant tucked away in the historic California Hotel (now called the Villa del Sol). The courtyard is the perfect place to spend an hour or two just grabbing a quick breakfast, or sitting by the fountain and having a cup of coffee. The owners/operators have created a cool little place with a ton of character and peacefulness. Chef Glen has created brand new menu items that are vegetarian (or maybe vegan - I never can remember the rules) that are actually quite tasty at least as far as this confirmed carnivore is concerned. We've held company events and parties at the Brownstone Cafe - and all of our experiences have been flawlessly successful. Chef Glenn and Kimberly work hard to make sure everything is perfect. So if you want a quality meal (or a team building/special event) at a reasonable price and in a peaceful setting, then drop by and say "Hi" to Chef Glenn, Kimberly and the rest of the Brownstone staff.

My daughter found this restaurant online so we decided to give it a try. We came early, about 12:30 on New Year's Eve and by 1pm, the place was filling up. The menu had a mix of food for my entire family. I had the burger with an extra patty, my 14 year old son tried the grilled cheese (he's ALWAYS a burger kid), my daughter had the egg sandwich and my wife had the burrito. All the food was high quality and fresh, especially for the price. It's my understanding the menu does change from time to time depending on the popularity of items.

But what really made me write this review was our server JULES (name on receipt). She was just a pleasure to talk to. She told us about popular items on the menu, talked about the new fish menu, told us how their beer selections are made and how long she's been working there.

I can't say enough about our positive experience. We look forward to returning and hopefully seeing Jules again. I hope our review can be shared with her because she deserves...
