Del Taco — Restaurant in Gainesville

It was my first time here and it's a cool and clean environment. Everything on the menu looks great, but unfortunately, it seems a good portion of the food doesn't deliver in the flavor department.

I tried several different items including the grilled chicken burrito, carne asada epic burrito, carne asada nachos, and the fries. Let's start with the positive: the carne asada nachos were absolutely wonderful. They had perfect flavor pairings and kept me going back in for more, even after I was full. The nachos are the saving grace of this review and the reason I didn't score it lower.

Now for the less fantastic portions of my meal.. The crinkle cut fries were very underwhelming. I would even argue that they are far less superior than fries from almost any other restaurant that I've ever been to. While both of the burritos I ordered were a good portion size, they were underwhelming in flavor. The grilled burrito had a strange flavor that I couldn't pinpoint, but I was not a fan of. I'm not sure if it was a type of marinade on the chicken or something else. The carne asada burrito just lacked flavor in general with the exception of the refried beans, which is virtually all that I could taste. That burrito was like $6+ alone; so to say I was disappointed with it was an understatement.

Overall, I would come back to give it another try in the future, but I would steer clear of the burritos. The nachos are a huge winner, but I would also be willing to give their tacos and quesadillas a try on a...

Overall I was not impressed by the food or the service. I can’t blame the people because this was an App/Online vs Drive thru ordering issue. You cannot use the offers on the App for online purchases. It needs to be scanned and cannot he scanned after the purchase is made. I’ve had other more common fast food restaurants offer the item from their app after the fact. I was told they couldn’t even change my order as well and I too have been able to edit my online orders at other restaurants. Just made me regret ordering in advance not being able to get my offers. The food wasn’t great. The tortillas had a weird texture. I’ve accidentally bought these kinds before and they go straight in the trash. The fish tacos did not have fillets, but skinny fish sticks, nothing like the photos. Most of the food was much smaller than I expected. The crispy chicken, tea, churros and loaded fries were probably the best thing I had. I would not come back unless I’m craving churros. I would much rather eat Tacobell or Chipotle if I want Mexican Fast Food. As for the kid’s menu items for that price you might as well just skip out and go through the extra time and effort to get a McDonald’s kids meal that is the same price or cheaper and has an actual toy. Very disappointed. Get it together. I have enjoyed Del Taco for years. Specifically the one in Snellville and it has always been amazing. When I heard a Del Taco was coming to Gainesville I told everyone how fresh and great it was. Unfortunately this is not the case with this Del Taco. Feedback I have received from those I told to try it has been negative and there are many opportunities that need to be corrected before this restaurant can be further considered for my lunch or dinner choices. Based on my personal experience you are disorganized and not properly trained. I threw away the food I received because the wrappers were wet on both sides and food looked unappetizing. I normally would have went back and spoken with a manager, however my mother in law had a stroke this morning and I didn't have the luxury of time this evening to go back. Staffing doesn't appear to be an issue because there are many behind the counter and getting food out with quality and freshness does not appear to be a priority. I overheard one young lady say she had been waiting for 20 minutes and my wait was 15 minutes. This is a top down issue that needs to be started with the managers. Adjust their sense of urgency towards fresh food fast and getting the customers happy with their decision to come to Del Taco. I dined at 745pm on...
