Walked into the shop for the first time and was warmly greeted by the friendly staff. The menu is on the wall, and next to it is a chalkboard with their rotation of refrigerated and frozen offerings. My eyes kept scanning the room and was greeted with the beautiful sight of their deli case filled with savory offerings as well as a nice selection of house made sausages. I then heard the words that made my gears start turning, " What'll it be today?" I browsed the menu and had a Rollercoaster of emotions from pure unadulterated joy to absolute fear of missing out from the variety of delicious sounding sandwiches. My heart was torn between their house smoked pork belly sandwich and their cuban sandwich struggling to make a decision on such a difficult choice I asked if I am able to substitute the pulled pork for the pork belly and was told they could make my desires come to fruition. With joy I tapped my card and waited patiently as my masterpiece was hand-crafted part-way through the process the artisan crafting my Mangum opus spoke into the universe words of joy and pleasure I thought was reserved for gods "would you like to add pork jowl bacon onto your sandwich" with glee I responded yes. Shortly after, my sandwich was complete, a creation so magnificent that even the artist himself remarked on its beauty. With precious cargo in tow, I made haste back to my dwelling upon entering my home. I could no longer sheath my primal hungers for the masterfully crafted sandwich I was bestowed. Like a savage beast I feasted, in the throws of ecstasy while experiencing this Devine creation. If you or a loved one have been pondering the idea of coming to and having a meal at Fehrenbacher's Artisan Sausage, I would highly recommend it 10/10 experience...
Read moreIf you're in Gainesville and remotely like deli food and sausages, please, I implore you, check out Fehrenbacher's on 4th. Subway will charge you like $10-$15 for something 8 inches and likely gross. I got a Stallone and will need to eat it in three separate sittings, and it's only like $13. Husband ate the whole "3 Little Pigs" and said he felt conflicted, but every flavor was amazing. Perhaps he has been embraced by the pig Wendigo. Double chili dogs are his normal choice. To be frank, (hehe) just about everything on the menu will forever carry your soul to a heaven where Prime energy and dusty Whole Foods hot bar doesn't exist. Feels like roots in the Midwest, but prepares like an old European family. We messed up and came in when the Square rebooted around lunchtime (Sue square, I'm behind you, ahhh! Nobody's fault, I understand totally) so we got our sandwiches served as for-here when they were ordered to-go. They were kind and offered to repack, but I could tell they were busy, and there was no way to tell make line about it, so I just asked for boxes. Fehrenbacher's always...
Read moreI would say Fehrenbacher's artisan sausage is a hole-in-a-wall restaurant/store in Gainesville! $$ but fresh and tasty!
I walked in and I noticed that you can order an array of meats and dishes. The dishes that you can order are listed right when you enter on the left side and these dishes typically change daily.
I ended up getting the smoked salmon everything bagel which included horse radish mustard, radish, dill, trout poe, arugula, capers, and pickled egg ($12). The bagel was good however, it was there was some kind of sour kick to it. I believe it was the capers and my taste palate isn't use it. Other than that, it was a decent bagel. My friends and I also order mimosas - 1 bottle Spanish cava and Florida OJ ($20) and the house charcuterie plate - assorted meats, cheeses, fruits and pickles ($20). The variety of this plate was huge! I honestly didn't know where to begin but my favorites were their house sausages and fresh cheeses such as gouda. We also sat outside since it wasn't too sunny! Cute and vast area with a band playing in...
