I recently had an extremely disappointing experience in the evening with a young order taker at Darlene's Shrimp Shack, that order taker was wearing eyeglasses (spectacles). From the moment I approached the counter, his attitude was shockingly rude and downright nasty. His behavior was completely unacceptable and left me feeling disrespected and frustrated. Customer service is a fundamental aspect of any business, and this young man clearly lacks the basic manners and professionalism required for such a role. His rudeness and unhelpful demeanor made the entire interaction unpleasant. I believe that education and good training play crucial roles in shaping one's behavior, and it was evident that he had not benefited from either in this regard. Dealing with customers should not be a big deal, yet he managed to make it a very negative experience. His nasty attitude was not only unprofessional but also a poor reflection on the business. I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and addresses this issue promptly. No customer should have to endure such disrespectful treatment. A bit of training in customer service and basic courtesy would go a long way in preventing future...
Read moreMe being local to Houston, my parents and I go to Galveston regularly. We usually go to shrimp-basket, hands down one of the best seafood places to go to in Galveston. However, we've gone by Darlene's very often and thought we'd give it a shot considering it was 4.6 stars.
Definitely did not live up to that, we payed $60 dollars for 30 Shrimp, 10 Cajun, 10 Lemon P. and 10 regular. This as well as 3 fried crab legs and fries. All of those above except for the fries were so salty it was nearly inedible. It takes away the factor of their fresh caught characteristic. They were very large, and as I said, fresh, but those two factors were just so overlooked by the amount of sheer salt on it. Not just salt, they were doused in seasoning like you just buried it (the shrimp) 3 times in seasoning.
It is definitely not worth the price nor the amount of time you wait in the barren of utensils table set up they have. They don't even give you napkins when you get your good; which for all that seasoning you need to shake off your hands, should be a necessity.
If you want reliable, good fried seafood of all categories, just go to Shrimp-Basket, it'll save you a lot of...
Read moreI have been coming to this place for two years and every time we come to Galveston, except the last time it has been perfect. I didn’t want to give you anything less than a 5⭐️ because I know things happen, but I did want to bring this to your attention. The last time I drove from Austin, I came right to your place without thinking of any other restaurant, that’s saying a lot for the quality of the food you serve for me not to even think of another place but yours. “The situation at Hand” For one, it took awhile even though there wasn’t many patrons, maybe this was because the Man that usually is there was not. When we finally got our food (which was to go) we didn’t look at it right away (We trusted it was wonderful because of every other time) when we finally did open our bags, the shrimp had burnt bits on the crust and the hush puppies were black. We didn’t take it back, we just picked off the burnt pieces and threw away the hush puppies, it was very disappointing and surprising because of our past experiences…. We will be traveling there in a few days and want to give it another chance. I hope this time we aren’t disappointed by the service or...
