Darlene's is a cool spot! You order at the trailer and wait for your name to be called. You get 10 or 12 JUMBO fresh shrimp fried to perfection then seasoned or sauced with one of their 10-15 flavors. Now honestly, EVERYTIME I've gone by shrimp was so good I would save some to share with my son (you know it's good when you save it for someone you love!!) Service has always been easy breezy cool, the way an island business should be. This was the first time my food was missing a little salt. It was hot, fresh, made to order and slathered in garlic butter parmesan goodness but I had to sprinkle a little salt to really enjoy it. I gave these 5 stars out of respect for all the other times I've been and it was 🔥! My fries were hot and we enjoyed it in our car looking at the bay. You can sit on the covered benches or take it home. Oh and their cocktail sauce is A1!! You get a few hushpuppies too. I hope you try it and enjoy it! I've never tried the shrimp slaw but they will offer it. Fries are separate and cost $2.95. Drinks are bottled or can. Enjoy, Erika 🍤

Darlene’s Shrimp Shack may be “just” a food truck with a simple menu, but wow—do they know what they’re doing in the kitchen! The fried shrimp, both breaded and naked, were outstanding. We especially loved the Cajun seasoning, but the naked and lemon pepper were also really tasty. The hush puppies with a kiss of jalapeño were absolutely divine. We loved it so much our first night that we went back again the very next day. The ambiance is what you’d expect from a roadside food truck—pretty basic—but if you time it around sunset, you’ll catch a gorgeous view. Add in the upbeat music and you almost forget you’re right off the street. Plenty of folks were grabbing to-go orders, but it also makes for a fun, low-key date night spot. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Galveston!

The BEST and FRESHEST shrimp on the island! That's evident by the shrimp boat the "Darlene" docked next to the the food truck! Big, tender, perfectly cooked and battered! I've only tried the regular fried and the fried garlic butter parmesan... But that's enough. If I had to give a critique, I would say the batter could use a pinch of salt to really bring out the flavors even more... Other than that... Change nothing! You should come by at off hours or you can expect to have a wait! Also... Bring cash or you'll have to go to the bait shop next door to pay with your card and bring back the receipt to place your order. Well worth it! We love to sit by the water under at the little "al fresco" dining area they have set up! We go several times every trip to Galveston!

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience in the evening with a young order taker at Darlene's Shrimp Shack, that order taker was wearing eyeglasses (spectacles). From the moment I approached the counter, his attitude was shockingly rude and downright nasty. His behavior was completely unacceptable and left me feeling disrespected and frustrated. Customer service is a fundamental aspect of any business, and this young man clearly lacks the basic manners and professionalism required for such a role. His rudeness and unhelpful demeanor made the entire interaction unpleasant. I believe that education and good training play crucial roles in shaping one's behavior, and it was evident that he had not benefited from either in this regard. Dealing with customers should not be a big deal, yet he managed to make it a very negative experience. His nasty attitude was not only unprofessional but also a poor reflection on the business. I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and addresses this issue promptly. No customer should have to endure such disrespectful treatment. A bit of training in customer service and basic courtesy would go a long way in preventing future...

Me being local to Houston, my parents and I go to Galveston regularly. We usually go to shrimp-basket, hands down one of the best seafood places to go to in Galveston. However, we've gone by Darlene's very often and thought we'd give it a shot considering it was 4.6 stars.

Definitely did not live up to that, we payed $60 dollars for 30 Shrimp, 10 Cajun, 10 Lemon P. and 10 regular. This as well as 3 fried crab legs and fries. All of those above except for the fries were so salty it was nearly inedible. It takes away the factor of their fresh caught characteristic. They were very large, and as I said, fresh, but those two factors were just so overlooked by the amount of sheer salt on it. Not just salt, they were doused in seasoning like you just buried it (the shrimp) 3 times in seasoning.

It is definitely not worth the price nor the amount of time you wait in the barren of utensils table set up they have. They don't even give you napkins when you get your good; which for all that seasoning you need to shake off your hands, should be a necessity.

If you want reliable, good fried seafood of all categories, just go to Shrimp-Basket, it'll save you a lot of...

I have been coming to this place for two years and every time we come to Galveston, except the last time it has been perfect. I didn’t want to give you anything less than a 5⭐️ because I know things happen, but I did want to bring this to your attention. The last time I drove from Austin, I came right to your place without thinking of any other restaurant, that’s saying a lot for the quality of the food you serve for me not to even think of another place but yours. “The situation at Hand” For one, it took awhile even though there wasn’t many patrons, maybe this was because the Man that usually is there was not. When we finally got our food (which was to go) we didn’t look at it right away (We trusted it was wonderful because of every other time) when we finally did open our bags, the shrimp had burnt bits on the crust and the hush puppies were black. We didn’t take it back, we just picked off the burnt pieces and threw away the hush puppies, it was very disappointing and surprising because of our past experiences…. We will be traveling there in a few days and want to give it another chance. I hope this time we aren’t disappointed by the service or...
