In our goal to experience local things, we tried kolaches. Actually we tried them at another place as well to get an understanding of them from more than one source. Dawn donuts is a basic donut shop and has an array of kolaches and pastries. The server was very pleasant. We aren't fanatical about kolaches, which may be that we "didn't grow up with them" or it was 1030 when we stopped by - and they are often a "get them on the way to work (early)" kind of thing. Read moreYesterday morning I stopped in to this donut shop because it's on the way to my son's School. I ordered what I generally order from all donut shops. I got a sausage egg and cheese croissant, some kolaches, a boudin kolache, chocolate covered donuts, and donut holes. It's my opinion that other donut stores have fresher products. The croissant seems slightly stale and dry. In all honesty the things seem to be from the day before or perhaps the day before that. I honestly probably won't stop there again just because I find better quality at other donut shops...
Read moreSome seriously good kolaches and donuts. The donut part is really fresh and flavorful, the chocolate frosting has a unique sweet taste to it unlike the chains, which is a little different at first, but is really tasty.
Kolaches are heated and the has just the right balance of meat and cheese. You could also get it cold if you want as well.
Note, there's a 3 dollar minimum if you want to use a card. Indoor dining space is somewhat limited but it seems like a lot of people take it to-go. Parking was packed...
