Blanca was awesome! We had the prime rib special ($18) and she offered to split and plate everything separately. I’m sure the cook winced when he saw medium for the meat but it was still very tender, served with a salad, baked potato and piece of Texas toast. Blanca even made sure we both got the different salad dressings we wanted. And the salad, even split, was not skimpy! Baked potato was great and definitely not microwaved, as the skin was tender and wrapped in foil. We were not hurried or harried and the entrees were served after we were done with our salads.

I went solo about 4 years ago and had the basic cheeseburger with tater tots. Hadn’t thought about tater tots in years and I devoured them! There were plenty too. So much so that I could not finish the cheeseburger.

Great locally owned bar & grill with a loyal clientele.

We’ll go back for the frito pie!

4/6/24 Can’t get away from the cheeseburger and tots! Took half home. Same with Husband’s BLT. Total bill $32 with one Pinot Grigio for me. Fresh and fabulous. Cindie at the bar was fun and efficient!

4/10/24 Joey was on point today with our drink refills and crackers for our wedge salad. We split the wedge and a loaded baked potato and left very full for under $40. Everything very fresh as always!

Went back for Frito Pie. Note 🗒️ n weekdays their kitchen closes at 2:45 and reopens at 5 pm. Frito Pie was good ( we split it) and more than enough food along with the iceberg wedge. An entire head of lettuce, quartered, with bleu cheese crumbles, red onion and crumbled bacon. We took part of the salad home. I like my Frito Pie a little crunchier but didn’t want to ask for more Fritos as we had too much food already. Dawn was fantastic!

Today, 5/4, we split the French Dip. Au jus was on point, meat was lean and bread was toasted. I’m used to a little cheese and sautéed onions, but we gobbled it down. Working on our way through the menu. Ok on 5/4 we split the turkey melt! Truly one of the best I’ve ever had. And with the tater tots, plenty...

I work nearby and have worked close by for 1 year never eaten at the Press Box. So I decided to go in and try it out due to the fact I only had limited time to get lunch and get back to work on time. I walked in, no one greeted me because there wasn't anyone behind the bar. Waited at least 7 minutes to get greeted than finally got a greeting from an unfriendly bartender who didn't look like she wanted to be there. She asked me what she could get me and I asked for a menu. The menu was dirty. I looked through it and ordered a burger after she served several other folks food and drinks. There was a lady who sat next to me and I started to talk to her about Mardi Gra. She asked me what I got, I told her the burger and she told me about the special for $7.95. I said that is a good deal instead of a $10 burger. She got her food before me and it looked delicious. I would have ordered the special if the bartender would have mentioned it but didn't. Then she finally handed me my to go order and I left and when I opened it up back at the office, it wasn't a burger it was a muffaletta so I called and let them know they gave me a wrong order. They offered to make me my order and I was grateful but I would not be able to leave because I had to attend a meeting so I asked if I can come back at 5 and she told me the kitchen closes at 3 pm and I would need to come before then to get my order. Well I called at 2:45 but was not able to get it until 3:45 so it was cold and under cooked. Wendy's hamburgers are better to say the least, I was...

On Saturday, my friends and I wanted to try a different bar than where we routinely go on weekends. So we all agreed upon press box. we were met be an older gentleman who was serving as the doorman and bartender. Immediately, he was not welcoming, despite an empty bar. We were a group of 25-30 year old medical professionals and simply wanted to try a new bar. He thoroughly questioned two of our friends' IDs who are Mexican descent (mind your they're 29 and 25). It seemed very off-putting, yet we stayed once he reaffirmed what we already knew- we're well of age to drink. He was visibly angry and met us at the bar only to tell us he can't serve us because he can't risk getting ANOTHER fine for serving underagers- we all thought it was a joke at first. But he was insistent that we had to leave because he misheard us say when he was questioning our licenses that "most of us are with TABC" instead of what we really said "most of us are with UTMB".

As we proceeded to leave in shock for being asked to leave an empty bar without any clear reason, he stated "only people who are lying and underage would be upset over this!"

It was a very revealing experience leaving me feeling marginalized and profiled by a bartender who seemingly decided before seeing our IDs he didn't want to serve us. While his establishment has the right to refuse to service, it seemed peculiar in the manner which he did used. Press box- I gave you a chance, but you left a bad mark in my mind. I wouldn't recommended this bar to anyone - be it within my friend or...

Holy moly frijoles y'all, you GOTTA stop here for the coldest beer on the island! Been in here several times & never left hungry either. Nachos a mile high on the plate, Ruben sandwhich thick as your arm, hamburgers as big as your face! And did I mention the beer is so dang cold you'll wanna glove to hold it! Last time I went Cindy was the tender & she was so nice & funny, gave a little history about the bar too. Press Box is only a couple blocks from The Strand & the drinks are half the price as the bars there, food...a quarter of those prices. Step off the fancy strand a few blocks, you won't regret it. UPDATE: Google asked me to update my previous review and honestly, I wouldn't change a thing. Been here several times since that review. I work three blocks from here so my coworkers and I come here for drinks and eats about once a month. Y'all, just get yourselves here, get off the fancy-shmancy Strand and have some cold beer, tall shots, greasy food, served with a smile, laugh, and good attitude.

1980's stylish sports bar. I'm West End Campeche Islander found new hang out spot. This place has a cheeseburger that gives Mel's Diner competition and that's hard to do. They got a chili dog that has triple the chili than Sonic. Quieter place to watch Astros or Houston Rockets. They got a baked potato if you just trying to chill and avoid all the huge tourist crowd. Got 3 huge plates & 3 drinks all for $50 bucks. That's a deal nowadays!

A little run down outside and in. Bartender kind of rubbed me the wrong way. We got the chili dogs and the bun was fresh baked I think not a store bun and it was soft, the chili was homemade but very light on the dog so left the whole thing a little dry, the hot dog was a thick style jumbo style. Tater tots were crispy. Hot dogs were huge, could definitely spilt one between two people that aren’t starving.
