Quite literally one of the worst restaurants I've been to. Everything from the service, to food, to drinks, and especially to price was awful. The only redeeming factor was the excellent view from the deck.
We had a sticky server who stayed with our table for most of our patronage there. He told us all about his dogs, his ex wife, how he's not allowed to see her anymore because he harasses her, how she left him to be with the cook at another restaurant, his thoughts on how she must find God, asked us to talk to her for him, showed us pictures of them and their kids he's not allowed to see, and his dogs that miss the kids almost as much as him.
Prior to hearing his life story, he spent 5-10 minutes talking about how good the food was. Considering the pricing, I was hoping he was right and this was going to knock my socks off, because it was extremely expensive. My table ordered drinks, and I ordered a Mojito. I asked them to put a lot of mint in it, since that is the core flavor of the drink. Server said he got me, no problem. It comes back with 2 leaves of mint in it that weren't muddled in the slightest. Disappointing to see that with an $11 drink, even more disappointed with how weak the drink was. The beer I had earlier was stronger.
We ordered food next. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken tenders, my wife ordered the nachos. The tenders can be only what can be described as Raising Canes but somehow worse. 3 small, overcooked chicken tenders with a drizzle of Buffalo sauce on them to make the "Nashville hot chicken" style, served on a bed of unsalted limp French fries. I attempted to salt the fries, but the shaker was filled with clumped kosher salt that was too big to pour out of the holes. You're on a restaurant right on the water, that's just short sighted. Use iodized salt and put some rice in the shaker like every other restaurant in a humid area.
The nachos were not good. The beef was lack in portion and flavor, and the cheese was effectively the same as from those cheese dispensers they use at a concession stand at a local sports stadium.
I won't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy dining experience at The Beach Hut was interesting. I wanted to try a new place, which there arenāt many of on our little island. When I walked in, I felt let down by the decor; black painted walls and ceilings, cheap lounge furniture, bland decor, and a loud and obnoxious jukebox didnāt quite give me the beachy feel I was hoping for. The server was very nice and got to my table right away since I was the only customer present. I asked if they had sweet tea. He told me āyesā. He brought back a glass of iced unsweet tea with sugar packets. In Texas, that should be illegal. Next came the menuā¦oh dear. So limited, and an unusual combination of common bar food and higher end dishes ranging anywhere from 25 to 50 dollars. I ordered the shrimp plate, which was $37 for a plate of mixed greens with some bland unseasoned grilled shrimp on top. They were hot and freshā¦thatās about the end of the good news. The dish came with a side sauce that mostly just tasted like garlic and vinegar. I finished the meal in just a few minutes, asked for my check, paid far too much for my average food, then went straight across the street to Bennoās to satisfy my hunger. If The Beach Hut wants to survive the Galveston restaurant game, they will either need to change their menu and lower their prices, or change their decor and adjust their menu to match their prices. If they donāt change soon, I doubt this place will be around for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was there to celebrate with my family .. There were two waitresses that did NOT wash their hands after using the bathroom and cleaning their private parts .. I know because a phone call was received and taken where it was stated she was at work and it had been a busy day! I went to the bartender to request that who serves my food be made sure their hands were washed and the lady had an attitude because āI had oneā .. which even if I did, who would not after seeing a restaurant allowing workers to serve food with no gloves and not having to washing their hands after wiping their private parts. Moreover, the lady continued to yell at me, which I then gave right back. She went and told her coworkers, as I left because who wouldnāt? They ALL proceeded to harass and mock me as I waited at my car and looked for another place to eat. Moreover, since they continued to stare and make gestures for me to acknowledge them, I let them know a mutual combat to the police could be requested, they denied. Crazy work, customer service is...
