Easily up there as one of the restaurants that offer not just Japanese food of utmost quality, but its sheer quantity too. Seriously, the menu is large. There are just too many options to choose from, it took me a long time to select my order. But with how absolutely fantastic the food turned out to be, I’m sure everything would have been given the same tender care and treatment.

First off, the atmosphere. Perfect. Everyone and everything, from the people to the decor, was alive and kicking. Everything was lively. In terms of pure energy and just feeling like you’re part of a larger crowd, Himawari nails it, as least when I visited anyway.

The food was delicious. All of it. The char siu bowl in all aspects was great, from the boiled egg to the juicy, flavorful cuts of meat, even to the perfectly seasoned rice, it was solid. Tuna rolls and sashimi were light in volume yet heavy on flavor. Takoyaki, hot, but also melts in your mouth and just explodes with flavor. Maybe a little too much bonito flakes, but great nevertheless. Fried chicken was crispy, and I can say the same for the French fries. Both were great, albeit nothing too special. The beef fingers weren’t chewy but rather savory. Loaded with sauce which tasted really neat.

Overall, along with simple, affordable prices, Himawari offers some of the best dishes from Japanese cuisine on island, and whether you’re looking for a quick snack or an adventurous meal, they got it all planned for you. With such a large, diverse menu spanning many different kinds of appetizers and meals, this place has a little bit of something for everyone.

Definitely...

I had such a bad experience last time I came to this restaurant, that I have not been back for several years. We had off-island guests who wanted sushi so my wife suggested giving them a try, saying that they have remodeled & expanded, so I reluctantly agreed to try it again. I couldn't believe it, but they actually got worse. We waited for over an hour and 20 minutes and still didn't get all the dishes we ordered. They did manage to bring us the wrong dishes 3 times during that time though. We requested more water several times but they never bothered to give us a single refill. Then we had to stand in line for 25 minutes waiting for our turn to pay. I told the owner about our experience, and his response was "so?" Obviously he sees nothing wrong with such terrible service, he didn't offer any discount for the aggravation, and couldn't even be bothered to apologize. Inexcusable, this restaurant is extremely over-priced, offers mediocre food, if you can wait long enough for it, and has a horrible owner. Please don't waste your time or money, go...

Ate there for dinner months ago and it took forever for my and my friends' food to come out. It was also hard to catch one of the staff's attention when we needed something, which was understandable since it was so packed and busy. Today, ate there for lunch with a larger group. It was also pretty packed and busy in the restaurant, but our food came out sooner than expected and there was always a staff member coming to check on us if our orders were okay and if we needed anything. Food was pretty okay and decently priced, and their lunch boxes were rather large....

Our favorite spot on Saipan! Himawari has been our go-to for everything—full meals, quick snacks to bring on the road, and comforting hot Japanese dishes. The quality is consistently great, and the variety makes it easy to come back again and again. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing something to go, it never disappoints.

Great restaurant with seating to accommodate a large group. Service is fast and friendly. The menu has a large selection. The sushi is great. Adjacent to the restaurant the Himawari grocery store and bakery. The store is clean and well organized. The bakery is really good. Definitely, worth trying.
