Himawari Super Market — Local services in Garapan

I didn't understand what all the hoopla was about with this place that locals kept recommending. Yes it's a pretty big place to find a lot of Japanese goods not to mention the bakery in the back that has some tasty pastries. It appears to be the place to go for sushi and ready made dishes that are kept cold. I was not impressed. The sushi was mediocre but I guess for the price it's ok. Don't expect to find any fancy sushi here. Varieties are very limited to the basic California roll, spicy tuna, salmon, poke bowls. Also, I do not know what the draw is to the clam chowder. It's tasteless, unappealing to the eye, and honestly tastes nothing like clam chowder. It tastes almost like someone was attempting to make chicken soup and dumped in clams and thickened it. I do not recommend it. Perhaps people's taste buds are altered due to the pandemic and the lack of available places to eat. I do absolutely love the dough of their siopao... fluffy...

Grab your bento to go. Very popular place to get lunch for both Locals & tourist. So many assorted food such as fruits, seafood of all sorts (sushi, sashimi bowls, poki, tuna kelaguin, octopus kelaguin, raw fish, squid, & octopus, Grilled Salmon, lemon buttered salmon)tonkatsu, fried chicken, steak, mixed vegetables, pastries such as powdered donuts & table rolls.

Also pizza, long breads, and usually 5-6 different kinds of Soups. Frozen treats with flavors like Azuki, chocolate, etc.

Also sold here are Single sliced cakes & you can special order birthday cake or cakes for all occasions. You can also special order sushi trays of different sizes (small, med, & large).

Quick note: Always choose "Freshly made food over processed food". Himawari is the place to grab a quick bite....

Used to really love this place. It has a lot of Japanese imported items that I love to buy. I used to be a big fan of their sushi but every time I buy a california roll I always seem to get their "defective" products. Not only does the avacado seem to be weird with the brown and black bruises on it, but I also got an extra shrimp in my food. Now normally people would brush off getting shrimp in their california roll, but this pack does not mention having shrimp nor previously served shrimp in it. Not only that, I am very allergic to shrimp and have had reactions after accidentally consuming the shrimp in the california rolls. I'm not sure why it's just their california rolls, but I will no longer be buying it. Their other foods seem to be...
