I will start by saying it is difficult to find this place open and when you do, it is pricey.
With that said, this is the first place I go to when I visit. It has a lot of nostalgia and the food is amazing. It does take a long time to get your food order, but it is worth it. I don't know how they manage seafood to be good in a mountain town, but they do.
The female that owns/runs the place is herself, a bit salty, like the name of the place implies. While she does have political opinion posted all over the walls, she does not engage in political conversation with you. If asked she will respond, but otherwise she does not force feed you an agenda. If you are offended by the heaviness of the walls, I would say, leave or just ignore it like you do when you see the garbage people throw on the ground in the park.
She reminds me of Darlene Snell from Ozark, but that makes her that much more enjoyable.
I can see why people may be offended, but suspend your politics, your desire to get in and out of a place quickly in the busiest national park town in the US and your concern on cost. It is a tourist town.
Enjoy the show of people that come in and stay and the people that leave offended.
It is a great, whole in the wall and near the only free parking on the strip.
P.S., I only gave it a 4 star on service to express the speed of the service. If you are nice to them and unexpecting, you will get the personality you give.
I can't wait for my next trip to Gburg and my next meal at...
Read moreI've never been charged so much for so little, ever. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, and this liquor bill made me clutch my pearls. My wife and I willfully overlooked the political messaging throughout the establishment, and this could have been our first mistake. The Salty Bear running this bar will con you like the conman plastered on the walls.
Between my wife and I, we had two cheap bourbons (~2oz ea) and three common beers (2x Yuengling, 1x Blue Moon, 12oz ea)⊠we were charged $70 for those drinks. They could say âits the liquor taxâ⊠well, that's still $60 for that order, before liquor tax.
If you want to come here after what I've said, get your bill before they pour your drink. I don't know if I was profiled and charged different prices. I didn't ask for a drink menu, and what we ordered is known to be cheap. This felt like a con job on optimistic tourists.
IMPORTANT FOR SOME This is an adult-only bar. Don't come here with anyone under 21 years old, you will be turned away. I watched the Bear turn away senior folks because one in the group forgot their ID. I'm not criticizing the adherence to the law, but its a testimate to no exceptions of this rule.
Its also worth noting that this Bear mentioned how they try to keep away from an online presence because the people don't have many nice things to say on the internet. While I can relate some to that, it was another red-flag moment that wouldâve been helpful to...
Read moreSTAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! This was the absolute worst service we have ever had! The old woman that claimed to be the owner was a disgusting human being. She was foul mouthed and tried over charging us for a $200 bill! When we tried to kindly explain, she became irate! She then printed off someone elseâs receipt and tried to give that one to us which included food on it that we did not get! We did not even have food there (thankfully because judging from other reviews it is terrible too)! She made threatening comments and went literally crazy on us! I will never be back and I wouldnât recommend this place to anyone! She must be a scam artist. Very unprofessional, extremely rude! If anyone does decide to try to this place, be very cautious and have evidence of EVERY single thing you...
