We always try to find a place to stay that's on the river. We always end up looking for something different, something better for the next time because none of the hotels have all the "wow" factors we're looking for.. I think this is THE ONE! Room was clean and comfortable. The bed wasn't hard as a rock like a lot of hotel beds are. A wide variety of pillows. Soft and firm. We always bring our own pillows but it's nice to have extras to prop up and watch some TV. The view from the balcony in room 306 was spectacular! Very little traffic noise from river road. We saw a bear in the creek. Got some great videos of the bear, the creek and the ober Gatlinburg tram as it went up and down the mountain. The air conditioner worked GREAT! The fireplace is really nice for those chilly mornings. No annoying light out on the balcony to spoil the evening views. Shower was nice. Good water pressure. The floor of the shower feels a little sharp on bare feet. If you have super sensitive feet you should probably wear flip flops or something in the shower. It is small tiles and some are uneven so they feel kinda sharp when you're standing there. Every staff member we had contact with was super nice, friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better! Off the main road but still super walkable to everything on the strip. We walked down to anakeesta and on the way back we saw another bear in a different hotel parking lot! Parking was plentiful. We parked under the covered parking areas the whole time. Never had to walk very far to the elevator. We didn't eat the free breakfast but we did stop in and get coffee a few times. Great coffee. Fully stocked sugar and creamer. They also had some free cookies. When we checked out the desk clerk asked if we enjoyed our stay. I'm sure out of every single hotel we've ever stayed in .. nobody has ever asked if we enjoyed our stay. One more nice touch showing they care about the customers happiness. I've never booked the same hotel twice for the aforementioned reasons... We'd never found the perfect hotel. We will absolutely be back the next time...

This is a very nice place to stay..We stayed 2 nights in Aug. The clerk at the front desk was very nice during check in and the other lady at check out was very friendly as well..Our room was very clean. We got a room with a private balcony facing the river as well as a hot tub.. Loved it!!! The location was perfect as well. Not directly on the main strip, however the street behind it so it was within walking distance..No indoor pool but does have a heated outside pool which looked very clean..From what i understood from the front desk clerk this was previously the Fairfield Inn/Marriot in which they still own it but instead of keeping the name they built it as the oak creek so the building is only 2 yrs old..their sister hotel is Bearcreek Lodge which is located just down the street which looks to be nice as well..I thought the price was reasonable and from what i understand its pretty cheap per night during the off season..I will stay there again..No complaints what so ever..I didn't go down for the free breakfast but my husband did and he said it was pretty good..waffles, cereal, biscuits n gravy, coffee, juice..They also layout free cookies, coffee and juice every afternoon for the guests as well..Being we only stayed 2 nights we did not need housekeeping so we kept the do not desturb sigh on our door and they did not bother us at all.Our rm as well as all the rooms i believe, we had a microwave ad a good size small fridge with a tiny freezer door as well.. ice machines on every floor...Very...

So, wow a great place to stay and even better, everyone you meet there as far as the staff is so friendly and awesome, the owner/owners have created a great environment of employees that care and love where they work. Rokeya, she is just a Rock Star by far!!! we arrived late, 11PM, no parking, she was close to her shift change and made a space available for us, but beyond that was so personable and friendly with a great conversation to help us for our next morning after a very difficult day of travel. Cleaning staff, awesome, rooms, awesome, any negative comments I have seen here are probably just entitled people that think the world revolves around them. Room, location, and everything are perfect. Also, Rokeya, again a Rock Star, about three hours after check out my Son figures out that he left his $600 amateur radio behind in the room that he just received from his Uncle for his Birthday, He's 24 so that would equate to your 3 year olds favorite stuffed animal. Called, radio found, arrived three days later, we had to pay for UPS, that is my Son did, as he should have to. Thank you Rokeya, Boss, she deserves a pay raise for being so awesome!!! We will be back next year with some fishing poles as I watched a sweet 14" Rainbow caught in the stream on property. Thank you Old Creek Lodge Staff, I'm sorry I can't remember everyone's name to include the wonderful Lady that keeps up with the morning...

Room and furnishings are showing signs of wear/age. Room was not very clean. Hair and toothpaste stains in the sink, mold around where the sink attes to the countertop, dust bunnies and crumbs on the floor and under dresser, mold in refrigerator. Walked across the floor with my socks on and the bottom of my socks were black. Moved the chair and the floor under the chair is a different color from the rest of the room (see pictures). The floor has never been mopped only cleaned with a broom, which is the same broom they use to clean the spider webs off of the balcony railing. I rubbed the damp shower mat on the bathroom tile floor and it became black (see attached picture). Mold and soap scum in the corner of the shower (see attached picture). Was so bad we bought bleach to clean the shower ourselves (see pictures). The grout in the shower is black but outside the shower it is tan(see pictures ). Has to be the dirtiest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Bathroom is so small you have to step into the shower to close the door. The fireplace is controlled by an old style wall timer that you have to turn for it to come on. The timer was loud and takes away from any ambiance the fire place may add. The hotel is located in a great location and has a great view of the creek but with so many other places to stay I would not stay here again.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed my stay at the Old Creek Lodge. It is a block off main street (441) and had a more relaxed feel than just a block over - yet I could walk to the main strip easily and access restaurants and shops. Every room either faces the Cliff Branch of the Pigeon River or Le Conte Creek. My room faced the creek, and I really enjoyed that - there was sufficient water rushing down the creek that it made a wonderful rush I could hear from my room and really enjoy on the balcony. Typically, when I see that rooms have a balcony, I assume I won't use it. But here, the balcony was a highlight. Sitting out in the shade on my balcony with the creek rushing below me and a pair of Brewer's Blackbird fluttering around in the creek and trees was a delight. The room was clean. The fridge on, the microwave & in-room coffee worked. And they had a decent continental breakfast so I could fill up on some cereal, boiled egg and fresh coffee before I started my day in the woods hiking. And the check-in staff was friendly & cordial. I can't imagine staying in Pigeon Forge, and I also was skeptical of the hotels in Gatlinburg - but this hotel keeps the old feel of Gatlinburg in character and service. Hope to return some time.
