Rooms Our room was very nice it had great views was very warm and comfortable and it had all the normal items for our convenience, plus an extra sink out side the bathroom area; even a fireplace that we did not use and it was directly above that great mountain creek that runs thought the middle of the motels property.
Nearby activities This motel is located in a prime spot in Gatlinburg Tn. Just about 50 yards off the main parkway ( to the office) . Great food places to eat all around it, i.e. Cumberland Jack'S( is a must see and eat place if you love great food and history plus the dog it is named after is a great story) , Cohouns, Cherokee Steak house, etc. ; the ober Gatlinburg Tram lift office is right arcoss the Street, and the Gatlinburg Convention Center is a block away. , The National Park entrance is about a 1/2 north away on HWY. 441..
Safety The area is well lit up and very well marked for safety. Word to the wise.. There are many signs posted the say " Do Not Feed the Bears". I think they truely mean this because in their office there is a photo posted of a small bear standing in the parking lot just in front of that office location. The motel is spread out a considerable amount along the mountain creek area and also above it along the ridge line which requires the use.of an elevator to access those rooms. ( that elevator was not operating correctly during my stay so the Check In Rep. Had to change my room assignment to the lower levels and make up for the elevator not functioning aka being " out of operations"; otherwise I would have had to drive around to my room by going over to airport road and than travel to and from.the motel that way for breakfast as well..
Walkability This motel location is ideal for walking anywhere and everywhere you may want to go.. Shopping, the parkway, the National Park , hiking Trails, dining, ; bottom line ; maybe the best spot to be located especially for the value of the room.rates etc.
Noteworthy details This motel is a great location to stay and enjoy a wonderful time and experience in Gatlinburg Tn area. The staff was really nice and accomdating and user friender and I noticed that they treated others guests nice as well. I actually wish I could give a 5 star rating because overall the staff and motel earned it.. My one issue was the additional parking fee that the owners of this property charge their guests. I was aware of this additional fee before I booked my room on the Choice website..This four star review is my way of protesting the additional $10.00 fee that is added to your final overall statement.. Yes I understand that going to Gatlinburg is for the experience and that spending money is part of that experience, but with all of the other taxes , resort fee, other fees and so on, way is there an additional parking fee on top of the room rate and all the other fees? I JUST DO NOT LIKE THE ENDLESS ADD ON THAT NEVER SEEM TO STOP. I WOULD ALMOST RATHER IT BE ADDED WITHIN THE ROOMRATES AND NEVER HAVE TO SEE THAT EXTRA EXPENSE PERSONALLY. Maybe the IRS wants you to list that imcome as a separate line item to them but myself as a traveler it is not a legal tax it is an addional fee to paid for my "Free breakfast or something that" , which speaking of. The breakfast was great especially since I got it included in my price for FREE RIGHT, LOL. BEST REGARDS DON BLAYLOCK DAYTON TN AREA

Read moreSorry this is so long, but it is what it is I used priceline to book a room so i could watch my grandson play in a 2 day soccer tournament. To get a better room rate, i pd in advance knowing that if i had to cancel, i would not receive a refund. When i checked in, i was informed that over and above what i pd in advance, there was a fee of $18.03, to park my vehicle in the hotel parking lot. I was not happy, but pd it. There were a few issues with the room, (pics below), but overall the room was nice and bigger than expected. However, when i returned around 11:30 pm, with my young grandson, we found a fairly large black bear, standing in the shadows about a foot away from my vehicle, eating out of a trash bag. My grandson did not want to get out, understandably a little frightened because the only way to get to the room was to walk within inches of the bear. Odds are the bear would have ignored us or ran, but I'm not taking that chance. We sat there for about 15 min or so hoping he would leave, but he didn't. I called the front desk from my cell phone, explained the situation, and asked if someone could come out and try to scare it away. He was very dismissive about the situation, saying he would see what he could do, and Hung up. Of course, no one came out. About 15 min later, the bear moved away and we were about to exit my vehicle. We then discovered that the hotel was storing their garbage, on the floor, inside a small shed, next to the office. The roll up door was open just enough that the bear could pull out a bag of trash, which he then carried into the shadow to rip apart looking for food. In the parking lot, close to the shed, was what appeared to be a brand new dumpster, upside down with a piece of yellow caution tape attached to it. Their negligence and dismissive attitude put both my grandson and the bear in danger, for different reasons. I don't want to get into a rant about bears paying the ultimate price because of human stupidity, so i won't go into my opinion on that matter. I did not go into the office and return key cards at check out time. Maybe this was wrong, but i knew i was to upset to have a civil conversation about what happened and wanted to enjoy what time i had with my grandson. I will be contacting both Priceline and the hotel manager about the situation tomorrow. I know when you see the bears so often, some people get complacent and forget that they are wild animals and they can be dangerous. I didn't believe i was out of line in asking them to send someone out to try and scare the bear away. I worked at Westgate for several years, and f someone called security about a bear, they would go and make sure either the bear left, or that both the bear and the people had a safe encounter. A lot of other businesses do the same. I hope their negligence will be addressed by the appropriate authorities, and the hotel will make sure that their guests are treated in a respectful manner, their concerns are addressed quickly and appropriately.
I was not able to get a good pic or video of the bear. When we were finally able to see him in the light, my phone died.
The pics below are of a used coffee pod i found on the arm of the desk chair, and the others are it mold and who knows what else growing between the bath tub and the...
Read moreI’ve stayed at this property several times over the past decade, but unfortunately, this will be my last. It’s genuinely surprising that the Choice brand continues to allow this location to operate under the Quality Inn name, given its current state. The location is fantastic, but everything else leaves much to be desired.||The property is aging, which I can overlook, but the issues with maintenance and housekeeping/cleanliness are unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that’s part of a well-known brand.||I want to start by acknowledging the front desk staff, who were incredibly helpful. If I could rate them separately, they would easily get 5+ stars. They did everything they could to resolve the issues by moving us three times, but the problems persisted with each room. After the third attempt, we gave up and just accepted the conditions. We were originally booked for two nights but left after the first, and I do appreciate that the hotel refunded the second night.||However, the state of the property speaks for itself. Here’s a breakdown of the major issues we encountered:||First Room (across the creek from the lobby)|• Popcorn ceiling was falling off in chunks.|• The latch bolt on the adjoining room door was broken.|• An exposed electrical Romex cable ran across the threshold between rooms.|• Dim lighting throughout the room.|• Floors and baseboards were dirty and dusty.|• Dust was visible on light switches and electrical outlet covers.|• The tub/shower diverter was malfunctioning.|• The elevator was out of service, and apparently has been since January.||Second Room (building up the hill)|• Floors and baseboards were still dirty and dusty.|• Light switches and electrical outlet covers were once again covered in dust.|• One of the room’s air conditioning units was broken.|• The refrigerator was frozen over, leaking water onto the floor.|• Significant dirt build-up on the bathroom floor, especially around the tub and toilet.|• The room overall was outdated, but with a deep cleaning, it could be much improved.||Third Room (after another room swap)|• Floors and baseboards still dirty and dusty.|• Light switches and electrical outlet covers dusty once more.|• Cobwebs visible on the ceiling in the main room.|• Refrigerator was barely functional and didn’t cool drinks properly.|• Mildew and grime were visible around the top of the shower surround.|• Cobwebs hanging from the drop ceiling above the tub.|• Grime buildup in the corners of the floor around the shower and toilet.|• Gaps around the balcony door, letting in dust and dirt from outside.|• The blinds didn’t cover the full window, letting in light from below.|• The desk chair was stained and appeared unsanitary.|• The sheets, while clean, were thin and worn.||Additionally, with the elevator out of service, guests had to either drive or walk a couple of blocks to reach the lobby, breakfast area, and pool.||Overall:|This property needs major improvements, especially in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. I’m disappointed because it’s in such a great location, but unfortunately, the lack of care and upkeep make it impossible for me to recommend it. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and makes the necessary changes to restore the Quality Inn brand to its...
