We had a great experience at this lodge and I would definitely consider staying here again. It was very much treated like an Air BnB. There was someone on premises for most of the day, then they would be gone around 8 or 9 at night, and come back the next morning. They don’t clean the room during your stay, like at a hotel, but if we ever needed anything, we would just let whoever was attending that day know and they would get us what we needed very promptly. The premises was nice and we loved relaxing in the area around one of the fire pits. It is a decent downhill walk to Gatlinburg, so if you have small kids or maybe can’t make the downhill/uphill walk to town and back, you will need to drive, but that wasn’t a huge deal for us as we weren’t going into Gatlinburg everyday to walk the parkway. I had a couple of cocktails while we were there, and they were very good and comparably priced to other places! They have Nespresso machines in the room, which we loved!!!!! They also provided us with additional pods when we ran out as we had 3 morning coffee drinkers in our room. The breakfast was a continental breakfast with muffins, Chobani yogurt, cereal, fruit and juices. This worked well for us the couple of mornings we needed something quick to grab and go. If I had one suggestion, it would be that they should consider building stairs down to the trolley stop at the end of the property at the opposite end of the main lobby/bar, as that would be nice option to get to town without having to drive and potentially pay to park. You look down the short hill and the trolley stop is right there, but it’s not really safe to try and get down there. This would be a huge added bonus to staying here! Other than this, I would definitely consider staying here again. We had a lovely experience! Also, Kesha is awesome and took very good care of us the first couple of days of our stay and made my 2...
Read moreMy wife and I joined our oldest son and his family for a four-night stay at The Timber at Holly Branch. They traveled from Maryland and we drove from Ohio for our first-time visit to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Our daughter-in-law is a very successful event planner and after thorough research, she concluded that The Timber was the place to stay…and she nailed it! The reservation and check-in processes were straightforward and efficient and with ease we were enjoying the comforts of our rustic, tasteful, and efficient accommodations. Five ⭐️ for room layout, ease of parking and facility access, and peaceful surroundings. The Timber is in Gatlinburg but far (actually just slightly up the mountain) from the hustle and bustle of downtown tourist activity. But what really impressed us was the warmth, friendliness, and superb service we received from Kesha and Andrew over the course of our four-day stay. Breakfast selections were tasty and filling and our morning interactions with them were delightful. Their personal touch was kind and genuine especially with the grandchildren. Moreover, their venue recommendations were spot-on for what to see and do as first-time visitors. We arrived with an itinerary but we adjusted a few things based on their on-site comments. We spent our days sight seeing to include lunch and dinner so when we returned in the evening, we were spent and ready for bed. Thus I’m unable to comment on the nightlife and happy hour scene at The Timber. Hopefully next time I’ll be able to include that aspect of The Timber in my review. All I’ve heard was “It’s great!” Overall, our trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge was outstanding and we will definitely be back…and not soon enough. Thank you Kesha and Andrew for all you did to make our stay at The Timber the...
Read moreThis was my first visit to the Smoky Mountains, and I spent 2 nights at The Timber. Everything was great. The rooms & exterior look just like the pictures on the internet. Everything I needed was in the room. My booking came with free tickets to local attractions through a company called Xplorie, which was a nice unexpected bonus. I arrived in the evening when it was getting dark so I was a little confused at first where to park. There is a parking lot, but there's also a gravel driveway that goes deeper into the property. Guests definitely park in the parking lot! The restaurant is the main building you see on the right when you arrive, and then the lodging is off behind it, not necessarily recognizable when you first pull up. It took me a minute to orient myself. I had one meal at the restaurant which was good & reasonably priced. Unfortunately, they were closed for dinner when I was there, otherwise I would've had additional meals. My only 2 suggestions for the room are really first world problems. The shower floor gets very slippery when you're using soap. There are no grab bars in there, so be careful if you have a problem with balance. Also I wish the little bathroom window had a privacy film on it. I found that putting the small wastebasket in the window and then adding a towel around the sides to block the light worked pretty well. Again, first world problems! I love this place and would stay here again if I'm in the area. It was close to everything I wanted to do, and the Ober Mountain tram practically goes over the property (you can take it from town up the mountain instead of driving there if you...
