My friend and i dined at the bar at about 5:30 on 11/ 18/23. We asked if we could sit at the bar and were told that was fine. The bartender( young, skiiny, brunette, blue, untucked shirt, hair in pony tail) came and asked if we were ready. We replied no and things were fine. Well, we were by the blender, and the seats by the tables, at the other end of the bar became open. We moves over there, carried everything ourselves and finished figuring our what we wanted. The bartender came back and asked if we were ready. We Saud yes woth our drink and food order. She rudely said I'll only get your drinks now and come back for your food. We were like fine, and let it slide and ordered our drinks. She came back, and we odred the 2 for 25 meal. 2 ceaaer salads and 1 chicken tender w/ mashed potato and a cheeseburger with fries. My friend and I go on chatting, and all the sudden , our entrees come out. No salads, silverware or condiments. We say something to the gentlemen who delivered the food and she tells the bartender. The rude bartender comes over, hand me ketchup and silver wear, still no salads, and tells me she needs time to get my mayo. No problem. The she proceeds to Do Nothing, for a good 45 secs. She's at the end of the bar by the computer screens, chatting. So, I have worked in the food industry plenty, try to decide a non rude wat to get her attention, and decide to ot yell across the bar or whistle, I would put my hand up. She yells across the bar, do you need something, and I said yes, our salads, our silverware, any my mayo. She does a whole head bounce and arm movements and says, I. Busy I told you it would take a minute. A gentleman with a maroon shirt asked her to calm down and came to ask what we needed. I told him no joke. He brings our silverware, tells us our salads are just being made and tells me my mayo will take a minute because it's Ina different part of the restaurant. Really people. I had a " shamiqua", 20 something seriously act like she wanted to fight. We paid our bill and left no tip. I really hope, if management was there, they are corrected, and definitely the bartender. I was not rude ans any way. Nor did we argue past this. It just sucks that this is customer service now. SMH do better...
Read moreFeeling special. Friday and Sunday evening I was treated to dinner and drinks at Applebee's, in Gaylord, MI. Happy me. Friday I ordered a Blue Moon draft as the light libation to accompany my delicious quesadilla burger and side order of fresh, perfectly seasoned and cooked green beans. The bar has popular draft and bottled beers. Also an array of fun, colorful and tasty mixed drinks. Prepared as requested. Friday we had the pleasure of meeting a professional wait staff member, Jay. Personable, informative, watchful without being intrusive, and a class act when there was a misunderstanding, by my dinner companion, with the bill. Thank you. It was much appreciated, Jay. You helped make what could've been an embarrassing situation instead be one that turned out to be smiles and a hug. You are as professional as they come, Lady. Applebee's is lucky to have you. Sunday I met another dedicated wait staff member, Kim. Also professional and determined to enjoy her work evening. Sharing that attitude with all the coworkers and patrons. It makes the atmosphere there. You are also appreciated Kim. Unbeknownst to you your positive attitude took a sadder evening for us and helped make and keep it enjoyable for us while we were at Applebee's and the rest of the night. Thank you. We will definitely be back and often. Delicious food, good drink selection, wait staff that is awesome, kitchen staff that cooks and presents palatable and pleasing...
Read moreTook my younger brother hear to watch football - Because the Buffalo Wild Wings was closed. We didn't get to watch much of the game since the screens were at a 90 degree angle to us, and I don't want to eat for an hour or so with my neck cranked to the side. Our waitress was either very new, very incompetent, or having a VERY bad day, as she got basically everything wrong. However, I'm going to guess it's not incompetence. You see, I worked at an Applebee's in a nearby town, and one of the real problems tended to be how selfish and incompetent management was. So when I saw the on-duty manage handing dirty dishes to our waitress when she already had something to do for my brother and I - AND said manager was literally 8 feet from the kitchen and could have just brought them back herself, then proceeded to stand there doing almost nothing for the remainder of the time we were there, I remembered exactly how working in a restaurant goes. Sometimes the manager would step into the other room. This was merely an attempt to look busy, as I've seen this move before.
Fortunately, the food wasn't particularly offensive, and the problem with my stomach was that I ate too much. Tipped the poor waitress as best I could on a tight budget and told my brother we weren't going to watch football at a restaurant in this town again, seeing as the only option is...
