We have had several lunches at this location where we have a buffet and between 60-100 guests. They have gone well in the past until yesterday. My team member calls several times before the day of including one week ahead of time to confirm and give them final numbers. She did this last Wednesday before our lunch which was planned for the following Wednesday. She called the morning of and they had nothing down that we would be there and said they were unable to accommodate our needs. We were told we weren't able to use the patio because of a tornado warning (which there wasn't one) then they changed and said we could use it. They wouldn't be able to have a buffet like we had discussed previously. We arrived early to discuss options and they said they would have the meals out at 12:00 for our guests. They start bringing burgers and fries out at 11:40 which was 20 minutes before anyone was set to arrive. We asked if they could bring them out at 12:00 and the kitchen manager said they would have them out at 12:05. That never happened. Most of our guests had to take their food with them because they were serving the restaurant customers before our group. It was taking over 25 minutes for our guests to be served their meal while other customers were being served within 10 minutes. The tables weren't being cleaned off in the restaurant and my coworker and I bussed a table for the restaurant customers that weren't part of our party. We even opened some of our tables so that other customers had somewhere to sit. Then I tried to contact the corporate office to complain and all of the mailboxes were full except catering which I have still not heard back from. Fish stinks from the head down... The only bright point in our day was the server that they switched us to Mya. The original one had a scowl on her face and wouldn't look at us. It is sad that we won't be using Willie's anymore. This is the 3rd lunch we have had since February at different locations with one more to com in a few weeks and we will be looking for new restaurants after this...
Read moreMy wife and I are fairly new residents to Georgetown. While exploring places to dine and taking suggestions from others, we discovered Willie’s Grill and Ice House. After many enjoyable visits at different times, and sometimes accompanied by friends and family (particularly a soon to be 3 and a soon to be 5 year old) we’re unanimous in saying that Willy’s food, atmosphere, and staff are outstanding. Willy’s is a genuine and informal setting that always makes us feel welcome and valued. There are many staff we’ve become particularly friendly with because of our achieving status as regular visitors.
Among the staff I want to express sincere appreciation of Tegan Krett, one of the terrific bartenders / order takers whose patience, friendliness, and helpfulness is clearly experienced by us and is observed with other patrons. Tegan shares a wealth of knowledge about Willy’s food and drinks, and also offers suggestions about visiting various areas of Georgetown and other areas. Tegan is clearly an asset to both Willy’s and to Willy’s guests.
I also want to acknowledge and express appreciation of Lacey (staff trainer +) and Danika (bar tender wizard and order taker), two absolutely wonderful staff members who always welcome and assist / support guests of any age with their orders and any other needs. Their genuine smiles are radiant, their eagerness, friendliness and warmth, and their keen knowledge of Willy’s menu, special needs regarding food and beverages; and readiness to intervene and rectify any unexpected request or problem which may arise, is exceptional. Lacey and Danika’s presence along with all of the other staff members who provide direct services as well as behind the scenes people (e.g. kitchen staff, cleaners, etc.) are significant in making Willy’s a wonderful experience. I sincerely hope that newcomers and frequent fliers to Willy’s have the opportunity to meet Lacey, Danika and the others. You will be...
Read moreMade our first trip to Willie's today. The large menu is plastered on the wall behind the walk- up order counter as you enter the building. Unless you already know what you want going in you'll need to read fast and make up your mind quickly to keep the line moving. We played it safe with a couple of Willie Burgers. After ordering you get your drink and find an empty table. Servers bring your food to you and keep your drinks topped off. Patrick took good care of us. The burgers were juicy, big and tasty, fries were hot and crispy, and overall it was a two thumbs up experience. I wish the serving platter was a little larger to better accommodate a squirt of ketchup, but that's about the only improvement I can offer. Lot's of TV's mounted around the place were turned into football games. I can see how Willie's could get boisterous at times, given the flow of beer. Good family atmosphere and we'll return to try out some of the other menu offerings. Update March 2022: Been back many times since my original review. Willie's is now a regular "go to" restaurant in the Georgetown area. We've tried many items on their menu over the last year and nothing has disappointed us. They offer special items throughout the year for limited runs such as brats, crawfish boils and boudin balls. You can't go wrong on their salads, burgers, shrimp, chicken, or...
