Completely surprised at this place. I had chicken fried steak, cream corn, Cole slaw, a fried catfish filet, a couple hush puppies, a bowl of mixed fruit and a large diet coke. EIGHT DOLLARS!! I came in about noon and it was busy, but not packed. I was hungry (missed breakfast) so my eyes were bigger than my stomach. You can't beat the price. Now for the food... WONDERFUL! Catfish was great, the hush puppies were the best I've ever eaten. Perfectly fried, not burned, moist and delicious. I'm not usually a fan of cream corn, but I wanted corn, and I was not disappointed at all. I actually fully enjoyed it. The chicken fried steak was swimming in a wonderful country gravy and tasted great. The fruit was good. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the Cole slaw, but everything else more than made up for it.
Cash and check only, but there's an ATM out front with a small (1.95) charge. I've seen worse charges at the banks around here so not mad at that at all.
You're not coming here for the decor or the normal sit down restaurant ( it's a cafeteria style place ) but trust me, you'll walk away happy and stuffed for a very small price. Not open on Sunday and only open till 2PM so don't be late! Definitely...
Read moreI haven't been for lunch yet but their breakfast has all other Commerce locations I've been to beat. For just a total of under $10.00 the two of us both got the breakfast special. With the special we got biscuit and gravy, bacon or two sausage patties, two eggs cooked to order and coffee. There was not only a lot of food it was cooked perfectly.
My husband got the bacon and they filled his plate full of bacon. Not just one or two little strips but a huge pile of bacon. He ordered his eggs over easy and they were cooked just right. I got the two sausage patties and they were not the tiny little patties these were huge and fit perfectly on the very large, light biscuit. We both got the gravy.
The food was wonderful and I can't wait to go back next week.
You go down a cafeteria line to get your food. It took almost no time and if your eggs take a while to cook they bring them to you. The cup of coffee was served in a large paper cup but someone was constantly walking around with a coffee pot to keep your coffee hot.
I can't recommend this place enough. There are more...
Read moreMet up with a couple of old friends from the school years, on one of their recommendation... I'm allergic to onions and garlic- so eating out is hard. I got there early to ask if there was anything I could get safely. The staff was super nice and helped me choose a grilled chicken salad- it was delicious! My friends mother got the meat loaf and it looked absolutely delicious- wasn't dried out looking and she said it taste really good. Had hoped to get back up there in time to try their breakfast this morning- but just a little too late... with have to try it the next time I'm in town. Place was busy and everyone looked pleased with their chosen option. The servers kept our tea refilled and continued to cicle around to see if we needed anything (probably because we stayed for hours catching up). Thanks for taking care of us with this hard food allergy. I'd like to try that fried chicken for it looks...
