So I've driven past this place a number of times and finally decided to stop in tonight. The store was very clean and nicely decorated. I looked at the menu for a moment before deciding on one of the cobblers. I ordered and paid for it, and right away as many stores are doing now, the woman at the register flips the screen over and says "It's gonna ask you a question now" and then stares down at the screen to see how much of a tip I give her, if one at all. Since this is not a review on tip culture, I'll leave it at the annoying part was her leaning over to see what I picked.
Moving on, once I placed the order she went into the back and I sat and waited for a few moments for my to go order to be done. It was done pretty quick, and I was out the door in less than 5 mins with my hot cobbler. I couldn't wait to get home and try it.
And yet, I wish I drove around until it was too cold to eat. I saw someone else's review where they said the crust was hard and that the fruit tasted like it was from a can. And I would have to agree.
I expect cobbler to have a pie-crust sort of consistency. The crust in my order (which cost me $8) was so hard that I had to spit it out. It seems like they had this on some sort of heat source to keep it warm, and it eventually cooked the crust so solid that it became REALLY hard. My small cup of cobbler was 80% hard crust, and the fruit (I got peaches and blackberries) were mostly a sauce i had to scrape off of the tree bark they called crust.
If I had eaten this in the store, I would have returned it to the counter and asked for my money back. Since I live about 15 mins away, I chalked it up to picking a bad spot, and add someplace to the list I wont be visiting again.
And if you're wondering why it was 2 stars then the food was pretty much horrible? The nice and clean presentation did earn them the second star. Everything else was not very good. Will absolutely NOT returning, and if anyone asks I will be recommending against wasting...
Read moreCloses at 10pm. Got there at 9:50. The door was not locked and the open light was still on. My friend and I immediately got looks and I asked if I was too late. I saw the TV menus above them were turned off and one or two of the girls had their coat and bag. Someone said “I mean no we close at 10.” I repeated because of their looks at each other “It looks like we’re too late.” She said “no what would you like,” while two girls sat their things down and went to the kitchen and one stood to the side. As we ordered they giggled and were very short. I tipped and said thank you many times trying to show appreciation since for some reason I felt I inconvenienced them… we got our 2 cobblers in 3 minutes, I said thank you so much,…nothing. Needless to say the door was locked right behind us and the open light was turned off, still not 10pm. The cobblers were cold right as we started eating them in the car… So just know whoever owns this spot, yall don’t actually close at 10. Im done tipping for rude encounters when I gave many opportunities for them to say...
Read moreWe went here on date night. We ordered the flight…peach cobbler, apple cararmel cobbler, sweet potato cobbler, and OG banana pudding. The peach cobbler was fine, nothing extraordinary to be the namesake dish. The apple caramel cobbler was too spiced, lost all the apple flavor in allspice. The OG banana pudding is a travesty. They use banana flavored pudding instead of vanilla pudding and that artificial banana flavor is the only thing you can taste. The vanilla wafer on top was the highlight of the dish. The sweet potato cobbler salvaged the whole experience! It was like the holidays in a little cup, warm and just sweet enough, creamy but with some crunch from the crust. Would go back for that alone but would try other items. The Cinnamon Rolls look interesting. Service was friendly and helpful. They were pretty busy and we waited more than 5 but less than 10 minutes for a to go order. Customers dining in were smiling and commenting positively. I hope they can get a foot hold because we need a good dessert place...
