Popbar Alpharetta — Restaurant in Georgia

We visited this black owned establishment on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. It is located at the Halcyon mixed use community in Alpharetta. There is ample free parking the a nearby parking deck within Halcyon. The popbar was a first a bit difficult to find because it is in the cut, but we did manage to locate it. It is right across the street from the CMX Cinebistro Halcyon. Upon arrival the establishment was clean, modern, and brightly decorated. There are a good variety of flavor combinations, toppings, and items to choose from. It appeared from their menu that they sell the pops ice cream, hot drinks, frozen drinks, and shakes + boba. It can be quite overwhelming deciding on what type of combination to get. They do have a popbar most popular combinations guide with about 8 of their notable pops with assorted toppings and flavors. I have included a photo of these that was placed on the wall next to the pops in the freezer. They also have gelato shakes in an assortment of flavors which comes with a chocolate dipped waffle cone and whipped cream. We didn’t really know what to get so we referred to the most popular combination list I mentioned. I originally chose the hazelnut biscotti pop combination, but they didn’t have the hazelnut popGelato. I had to settle for the Vanilla Sundae option which my boyfriend also chose. They didn’t really have a lot of the flavors of PopGelato which I thought was lacking. They only had mango, watermelon, raspberry, peach, cherry, lemon, coconut, chocolate, cookies n’ cream, vanilla, and Irish coffee. They appeared to have all of the toppings which included waffle cone, graham cracker crumble, cinnamon pretzel, rainbow sprinkle, chocolate sprinkle, almond, coconut, chilly powder, hazelnut, and pistachio. They have a couple of awards on the wall as well. Google awarded them as a top rated dessert shop in 2021. Atlanta Magazine ranked them amongst one of the 7 spots to get gelato in Metro Atlanta for 2020. It appears they were also a taste of Atlanta winner in 2020. They do have a popbar rewards program where customers can earn free pops, get $5 off every $40 spent and other treats. This is a franchising company, but this location is franchise black owned. On the brightly colored door it states they have popGelato, popSorbet, shakes, frozen lemonade, popFloats, dessert waffles, pop’N Boba, and hot chocolate. Also they have pupCups for dogs which can be eaten on their patio. I didn’t get a great look or photo of their health score, but it appeared to be a 100 A which is amazing. The vanilla sundae was a vanilla popGelato, half dipped in dark chocolate, with rainbow sprinkles. The employee hand dipped it and put the sprinkle topping on right in front of us. This is a quick and fast ice cream treat for sure. I felt the employees were nice enough and professional above all. There is no seating inside, but there is seating right outside of the business on a bench, and also at a small table and chairs. Once we got our Vanilla Sundaes we went outside and sat on the bench to enjoy our treats. The ice-cream was pretty good. The vanilla popbar paired well with the dark chocolate and sprinkle additions. This was a pretty simple and tasty treat. I would definitely like to try some of their other most popular flavor combinations. I wouldn’t mind returning, I would just hope they have more pop flavors to be able to purchase some of these other notable flavor combinations. I’m not sure if they just didn’t have more because it was a weekday or if that is how this particular location is lowly stocked on items. I wouldn’t mind coming again on a weekend evening after the movies across the street. They do have merchandise for sale on a few shelves against the wall. This includes lunch boxes, mugs, pens, visors $10, t-shirts $18, hats $12, and baseballs $12. It also appeared they had chocolate covered almonds for sale as well. They do have options to order online, but it if for items they are in bulk. I wouldn’t not recommend this business, but maybe try to go on a weekend to see if they have more...

Popbar is a one of a kind popsicle shop located inside the new outdoor shopping center; Halcyon! The shop is located across from Lizard Thicket and the CMX Cinema movie theater. You know you've arrived when you see the big orange frame around their front door (as seen in my pictures)!

What I love most about Popbar is that they have many delicious flavors of pops to choose from such as pistachio, strawberry, mango, peach, pineapple, salted caramel, mint, Irish coffee, toasted marshmallow, cookies and cream and coconut just to name a few. The flavors range from sorbet, gelato, to frozen yogurt. They ALSO have one of a kind shakes (as seen in my pictures)!

All of their pops are made fresh daily with all natural ingredients, hormone-free milk, and real fruit! They ALSO do not use any artificial flavoring or high fructose corn syrup.

Currently, my top three pop flavors are the cookies and cream, spicy chocolate and the snickerdoodle! I have had all three dipped inside their milk chocolate and then topped with hazelnut crumbles. I'm telling you it's a flavor experience you won't forget. Your taste buds will be thanking you throughout each bite!

I highly recommend trying the spicy chocolate if you want a unique pop experience. Its not actually spicy in flavor, however, you do get a nice subtle warm feeling in your chest after you swallow. The pop has cayenne pepper mixed into the pop!

If you ever meet the owners when you stop in (it is a husband and wife), you will quickly understand why this business is as good as it is! OUR FIRST VISIT!!! I am very impressed. We learned of Pop-Bar on Thursday, then came on Friday and ordered 8 custom gelato pops, six hot chocolate pops, and chocolate espresso beans. We immediately drove them in a mini sealed orange thermal cooler to a few friends safely during CV-19. Then our moment arrived! We bit into our first one on the way home!!!! A soft mint gelato pop, half dipped into dark chocolate.........mmmmm......sorry. I had to take a pause! Ok,........as I was saying, dipped in dark chocolate with almond pieces sprinkled on top!!!! Hold on....hold on..........a tear just fell from my eye. It was enchanting!!! I was so impressed. Then once we were home, my craving overcame me once more. My hand slowly found it's way to the freezer at home. As I slowly opened the door, the light shinned directly on the wrapping of the coconut gelato pop sandwich.......yes I said "pop-sandwich" because they added two outer layers of ice cream sandwich on the pop with a stick!!! That dipped in dark chocolate with mini shavings of coconut gently breezed on the exterior of this package of goodness. One bite led to another, then another, then another. Before I knew what had happened,...... it was gone, never to be seen again. Perhaps my wife will not notice if I "borrow" her pistachio gelato bar or her smores gelato bar. Yes it has toasted marshmallow topping from a torch!!!! If she does, I will once again make it my determination to return to the Pop-bar, and sacrifice myself to custom make 10 more, because I know how much it means to me.......I...
