Today I visited Gus's World Famous Chicken at the location in Collierville as I have many times in the past. Only on this occasion did I run into incredibly rude service by a waiter named Jonathan. Upon entering the restaruant Johnathan was standing behind the counter and didn't even greet or say anything. I had to approach him and before I could even get out the words "Table for 3", he rudely/loudly said "is this a pick up!" I said no, stated how many of us would need a table, and Johnathan just flailed up his arms and said to sit anywhere. Well those were the first red flags. After finding myself a seat, Johnathan later came over to the table and said "What are you drinking" before the menu even hits the table. Again, this guy was being very rude, rushing, and even argumentative. After telling Johnathan I'd have a iced tea, 3/4 sweet, the rest topped off unsweetened, he attempted to try to "correct" me and said "Yeah yeah that's just half and half". Well no, it's not half and half. It's 3/4 sweet, the remaining unsweetened. Instead of acknowledging my request he chose to be dismissive, and with an attitude asked "What are they drinking" --they being the remaining guest who had not even made it to the table yet. I told Johnathan he would need to ask them and he did some type of annoyed sound/face, rolled his eyes, and walked off. At this point, obviously I'm no longer interested in eating at this restaurant anymore if your waiter can't even get past taking an order for drinks without an incredibly rude, unnecessary, and aggressive attitude. Long story short, we left, did not order food. And while my previous experiences at this location have been mostly positive, I will NOT eat at this restaurant again. I will also advise family, friends, and colleagues to do the same. This type of "service" is unacceptable. No one wants to go out and spend their hard earned money on service that comes with an attitude, rudeness, and total lack of unprofessionalism. Gus's World Famous Chicken in Collierville, should maybe try to regroup, and properly train staff on service and respect, specifically the character identified as Johnathan.
Also, as I was getting ready to leave "Johnathan" thought it was appropriate to try to argue with me. I told him he would need to speak to his manager, so hopefully this...
Read more#newlocation _ So they moved to a bank.... I'm guessing they needed a vault for the recipe.... 😅. We've been to the new Germantown digs three times and so far, no disappointment! Hot, fresh, spicy fried chicken that's juicy and tender. My only complaint is the lack of a few veggies that would take it from fast food to dinner. Don't get me wrong, fried potatoes go with fried chicken but the only non fried option is greens. They're awesome but the need some carrots or sweet potatoes to round out the meal. Granted the app fried pickle Spears were phenomenal but fried, fried, fried....this fair won't prolong the customer base lol 😂. I told my waitress Kim I'd mention her awesome service tonight and service it was. My fries came out slightly dark and cool, but she noticed before I did and got fresh ones on the way! Couldn't recommend a place more than Gus's! Go, eat, take a cholesterol pill and be happy!
#old location. - Once again, no photos🙄. Next time I will. This trip we did catfish instead of chicken. The difference here is that they batter the fish with the same basic batter as the chicken. I dropped a Star for 3 reasons. First, I asked for tartar sauce(extra in fact) and asked the young lady that brought me my food if it was in there and she said she double checked, it was 🚫 not. 🤬. Second, the place is dirty, very dirty. Whoever though it was a good idea to put a greasy chicken restaurant in a historical building with wood floors that can't be cleaned with degreaser was an idiot. Third and most critical, they told me 20 minutes for the order to be ready and it was about 25 or 30, but that wasn't the problem. The food was lukewarm.... It came from the kitchen directly to my hands, I saw it....I was home eating in 5 minutes. The fish was cold. I'm not taking an extra star only because I did leave the restaurant without checking so, it's my fault. That said, they should, after 18 months of this pandemic BS be able to properly send hot fresh food home with their customers. I though the staff was sweet but they are not well trained. Not even$15/hr will fix...
Read moreWhen on a road trip you do what? Eat!!! We had just pulled up to the Memphis area and we're hot, thirsty and hungry. One of us went inside and the rest of us stayed in the car. She came outside with wings. Oh my. I didn't chicken at that time but after we ate that wing we had to go back.
The chicken is fried hard yet it's juicy in the inside. It had some nice spice and heat to the flavor. I ordered a three piece. It came with Cole slaw and Baked Beans. Most times the sides are lacking. Not here. The beans really tasted like I made them myself. Ok so that must mean the coke slaw is got gonna be a hit. Nope it was good too. This is a plus. Because 9 times out of 19 something not going to be right.
I'm sorry I don't have better pictures but that was because I was eating and didn't think about pics. 10/10 would recommend...
