Low marks and disappointing.
Visiting the area and passed this place one night. Made it a point to come back Saturday morning. Orders are only taken by 2 kiosks at the counter, which can be challenging for some aka expect long lines.
I started with a classic Chicken biscuit, but then you add your toppings. So I will ever each separate.
Biscuit: The texture of a warm fluffy and flakey biscuit nail was hit on the head. But I forgot I chose the cheddar biscuit. If this option costs more, save your change- I couldn't tell a difference. I opted to add American cheese, which did succeed to add a warm goey texture to the sandwich, but no flavor. Same with the friend egg. Besides the additional protein, no flavor. The chicken was a good size for the sandwich, thick and moist but not juicy. Which isn't terrible as sandwiches go. But again, lacked flavor. A little spicy to the breading would have been better.
Over all, bland sandwich for $10. Size and portion wise, good, but I would have expected to pay around $7, maybe $8.
I also got a side of cheesy grits. I wonder if they use powdered cheese? There was some kind of powder consistency/texture in the mix. Also, thank God there was salt and pepper packets provided with the plastic utensil. The paste definitely needed the kick.
Last, I got an array of donuts for the ride. I ate one with the meal, Cherrywine. Now, I am guilty of buying this solely bc of the name, but I was more excited to try it once I saw the maraschino cherries on top. However, I was disappointed each donut was individually bagged.
At $3.25 for one donut, the least you could do is pack them in a small box. This donut was little more than a grocery store glaze with pink frosting and 3 cherries in the center. Half the frosting stuck to the inside of the bag. The cake itself seemed somewhat old. And the glaze was sweating off. For a couple dollars more, I could have got a dozen Krispy Kreme.
Wgile their patio is cute, when its warmer out, I think all of their ideas and concepts are better than anything they have to offer. One and done.
My overall total was $32 (also got a maple bacon donut and blueberry biscuit).
Edit, Addressing response from business: Hello, and thank you, I appreciate the follow up.
I generally have an issue with over salted food, and agree it is more favorable to have the ability to add salt (given the alternative). However, I found the dishes bland across the board and feel a more balanced flavor would compliment them better. For example, at the time of my initial post I had not yet enjoyed the cinnamon role biscuit. Overall, I did quite enjoy its unique consistency. However, it again, fell short of a spice profile... it could have used more cinnamon flavor.
Additionally, regarding the box option, I was not offered. However, my 6th option were the beignets, which I was not a fan of. Either they were too hot or too wet from oils left on them- perhaps a combo, but once covered with the powder sugar became a sweet pasty mess and not well executed.
Because you offer a more boutique style of donuts, maybe you could consider smaller box sizes to preserve their qualities? At 3.25 each, I would assume they are meant for more of an individual purchase to enjoy with coffee versus by the half dozen. A small 4 pack box seems like it may be more...
Read moreI’ve been to Rise once. Our party waited 30 minutes for food which was terrible. Our meal consisted of dry biscuits, undercooked bacon, and flavorless eggs. The place is cramped because it’s poorly laid out. Indoor seating is virtually nonexistent and you have to push thru customers to access the beverage station. Customers must either sit outside in the stifling heat or freezing cold most depending on the weather. Our party sat at one of the outdoor tables, and our arms were immediately roasted by its hot surface. Rise placed solid metal tables in direct sunlight. In the scorching heat, those tables get hot! A manager told me to put napkins all over the table to protect our arms from being burned.
I emailed Rise about the experience. No response. We won’t be back. There are plenty of other places to eat around town that offer better food, better seating, and better service, for more reasonable prices. And since management doesn’t respond to emails regarding safety concerns, there’s no reason to return.
Edit: You don’t know when I ate there. Threatening to report customers because they left honest feedback is astounding. Part of running a business is understanding what went wrong, and fixing it. Rise did a lot of things wrong the day I ate there. That happens at every business. Regardless of when I ate there, I allowed Rise ample time to respond to a complaint, which it didn’t. Since you’ve threatened to notify Google about my legitimate review, I’ll reach out to your corporate offices about your over reactionary comments. I’ve taken a screenshot of your response. I’m a first time reviewer on Google, and I find your comments unprofessional and hostile. There’s no way I’d feel safe eating at a business where an owner demands that customers who leave negative comments show up at his business AFTER he insinuates they are trolls and threatens to report their accounts. Your comments will be viewed as an implied threat.
And speaking of illegitimate reviews, I’ve noticed you had no less than 12 5-star ratings within minutes of my negative feedback. So now there’s doubt about the legitimacy of those positive reviews. Should those be reported to...
Read moreStopped by for brunch yesterday. Was extremely disappointed in the service. We walked in and the cashiers were passing out coupons to everyone in the restaurant, but failed to give some to my group and I. We weren’t too bothered about it and just ordered our food. After waiting way too long for our food, I finally got my order and was surprised to see that my order of hash browns was missing. I went up to the register to see what was going on, and the cashier completely ignored me and walked away and I had to wait until a worker from the back came and asked me what was wrong. The servers were just unnecessarily rude to my family and I and I’m not sure if they were profiling us for being Arab or what but something was not right.
EDIT: First of all, we were profiled in some way. Whether it was because we were Arab or because we were in a group or because we were men, there was something going on because we were treated differently than everyone else in the restaurant and if you weren’t there to witness what was happening, don’t you go changing the story to make yourself look better. Second of all, the food was average. I wouldn’t throw my hands up in the air and throw a party for your food, but it also didn’t give me food poisoning. With that being said, the mediocrity of the food would have maybe ensured you a 3/3.5 star rating. With the absolutely TERRIBLE service we got, that was docked to a 1 star rating. I would suggest that instead of bullying your customers into giving you a better rating and ignoring the real problems at hand, you speak to your staff and fix your issues rather than trying to change my narrative. I’m entitled to my own opinion, if you want a better rating then I suggest you change...
