Taco Time NW — Restaurant in Gig Harbor

First, Susie (Suzie?) makes this restaurant shine. She is friendly, remembers my name, and obviously cares about what she does. She is always professional and runs a tight ship. I seriously doubt you could find a better person to manage your restaurant and I hope she is compensated accordingly.

I love this place. Taco Time is the only fast food I feel good about eating because of the fresh ingredients. I can't remember the last time my order was wrong, or really any issues with this Taco Time.

Downside:

The building is old and not very functional when you need to order inside. There's little for people to line up to order, the same goes for waiting for an order, no room. I guess it's a good opportunity to push the boundaries of personal space comfort.

The overall impression I get from the styling, decor and grounds is that ownership won't put money into making the place look good. Staff keeps the place clean, but the overall feeling I get from ownership is "we're super cheap!"

I noticed the lack of spending on grounds and updates back in the great recession, 2008ish, and understood the need to cut back and survive, but ownership seems to have stayed in survival spending since then.

I like this Taco Time and don't want to see them cheap themselves out of business. Gig Harbor is a great place and I would be disappointed if the Taco Time management didn't invest in...

09/23/22, Gig Harbor - Major disappointment!! Been a customer of Taco Time NW for ~50 years, loving their food with the great "old" version of Taco Time NW hot sauce. Made my wife a believer, too, because of that old version hot sauce. Today, discovered they have changed the hot sauce recipe by cutting it with some kind of red sauce, leaving it bland, largely tasteless, and basically lousy. Asked staff if this was a permanent change to the hot sauce. Reply was "Not aware of any change, so it must be permanent." Might be projecting, but today's food - with the new hot sauce - was lousy. Without any hot sauce, the Crispy Burrito's and Mexi-Fries tasted marginal, at best. Unless other locations still have the "old" hot sauce, we'll never return to a Taco Time NW, which used to be the absolute best Taco Time group. With two other friends, we visited Taco Time before heading out to a concert. We all ordered meals and when we received them, each order had something wrong—however, I thank the staff for all of their help and understanding. More specifically, a young man was new and working the register. The restaurant was loud, so I know some of the mistakes of the order came from the miscommunication. However, under this stress, he provided excellent customer service and was hardworking throughout the time we were there. The staff seemed irritated at him—however I am posting this review to acknowledge the hard work he was doing, especially because the food service industry can be stressful and challenging (especially to someone new and that young).
