Michaels — Local services in Gig Harbor

I had to stop in here to leave a review for Lola, a customer service associate at Michael’s, Gig Harbor. I spent time with her the other day as I self-checked my merchandise during a busy time in the store. Lola kept herself focused on every customer who stood at the checkout stations and made sure she asked people in line if they needed help as well. She checked in with me several times to make sure I knew she’d be available if I needed assistance; I was there for a while scanning a slew of tiny stones and beads. She was so absolutely wonderful by asking me if I needed help several times and making sure I was doing OK with my big order of small items. Ha, I made a funny! I know, I know, it’s pretty lame.

When I thanked her for being so efficient and composed while helping a busy crowd of customers, she told me it was only her second day working at Michael’s, Gig Harbor. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it! She acted so mature and steady.

Michaels has found gem in Lola. She’s so attentive, and is blessed to have many other wonderful qualities, which include intelligence and focus, as well as remaining cheerful while dealing with potentially impatient or cranky customers, many of whom only wanted to check out and be done.

I am so happy there is a Michaels store in Gig Harbor! This store is my go to place for seasonal decor, arts & crafts, baking supplies, jewelry-making supplies, and so much more. It is definitely worth becoming a Rewards member if you shop here quite a bit, especially for seasonal decor. This particular Michaels store converted most of its check-out stations to be self check-out stations. PRO: It can be quick and simple and more convenient to do check-out on your own. CON: When the store becomes super busy (particularly on the weekends) and everyone is trying to check-out at the same time, the line backs up extensively. This is much more true when one of the self kiosk stations is "Out of Order." With more and more people moving and visiting Gig Harbor and the Pierce county area, Michaels is going to need to think about customer traffic flow for customers to check-out their items. Otherwise, you cannot go wrong shopping at this...

I called and asked if they offered dry mounting and if they had the materials in stock. They said yes so I made the long drive from Port Orchard. When I got there, they said it would take a week and they would call me. A week went by and I heard nothing. So I waited a few extra days and called and they told me the job hadn't started yet because they were waiting on materials. So they didn't have what they needed even though they said they did. I agreed to wait yet another week. Was promised a call when finished. 8 days went by - no call - so I called them and they said my job was done. Drove all the way over there and after 20 minutes of messing around they came out and told me the job hadn't even started yet. So I wasted gas on the drive over twice for nothing. I got my money back and took my art somewhere else. Buyer beware. Nobody that worked there seemed to have a clue about what...
