I went here today and wanted to share the ups and downs of this establishment. First thing that was very disappointing was the price of entrees were mostly from $25-32 and even as high as $50-70. The price isn't the issue is the fact that they had the square paper napkin dispenser you would see at a fast food restaurant. Next I ordered a soda water with lemon and instead of specifying do you want it from the gun at the bar or you want bottle of Topo Chico ($4+) the server just brought me a Topo Chico which wasn't what I wanted and in my opinion it was to upsell the bill assuming the tip would be higher. She was very attentive for the most part. My wife ordered the A Lo Boston (I believe was the spelling) and I got the Shrimp Taco and a Tostada with fried onions tuna in a house sauce (I forgot the name of which tostada it was). Both the Tostada and my wife's dish were amazing would definitely order again! The $8.50 shrimp taco was pretty disappointing! It had a large amount of shrimp but no creamy sauce or salsa on it just a small amount of pico de gallo. I noticed at another table after I had already finished it they had a creamy sauce which they didn't bring us. I grabbed one off the other table which the guests had just left and another server noticed so he brought me the other one which was a chipotle sauce which would of paired nicely with a shrimp taco. I noticed the two other table with guest in eyeshot had both sauces already and one actually had the same shrimp taco. I think it was not considerate to not bring it to our table. Overall the food was great especially the tostada I would rate it a 2.5 if that was an option simply due to the ambiance to price ratio (I mean really a paper napkin dispenser for a $30 entree 🤦🏼). Also the table were just your basic fast food tables as well. But hey if you wanna try it you aren't gonna be mad but if you are like me and would expect at least wrapped silverware like you would get at budget restaurant like Applebee's then hey...
Read moreI ordered camarones aguechile ahead of time because I know it takes a while to cook itself in the lime. When I got there it was fairly empty as they’d opened not too long ago. It seemed they’d prepared my to-go order on the spot but it didn’t take long so I let it go. The energy inside was off- I’d asked my friend if they felt the same way and we both agreed. I got home and had a few bites. The flavor was great, I chewed, got on my phone, and started to feel my throat swell. I’ve never had a problem with aguachile but I HAVE had experiences handling raw shrimp and getting an allergic reaction. I immediately connected the dots and called in to see how long they had really let the shrimp sit before packing it up. I was told they prepare it the day prior. However I’m spiteful and had a feeling if I let it sit longer it would cook all the way. So I went off to work and came back (despite having an allergic reaction earlier. Again, I’m spiteful) Not so shockingly I’ve been able to eat the whole dish with no problems.
All in all It was not allowed time to “cook” long enough and had I not taken a few minutes to get on my phone I would’ve noticed too late. By the time I returned to work I could barely swallow.
This allergy is a recent discovery for me as it’s only ever showed itself while meal prepping.
It should not have been present with my 30 dollar...
Read moreSaturday afternoon visit, not very busy. Chips were fresh and warm. Salsas were yummy. Loved the cucumber salsa, very refreshing. A new salsa for me. We started with sea cockroaches aka Camaron Cucaracha. Very, very tasty but very hard to eat. The shells were almost impossible to remove. They were seared to the meat of the shrimp. Ended up with only a few actual bites of shrimp meat, very expensive for just a few tiny bites. We also ordered some oysters on the half shell. These raw oysters were very hard to eat due to the fact that they were layered with cooked scallops and cooked shrimp. Had a very hard time getting these down without gagging. You need to eat the cooked pieces first then go for the raw. Ohh 😮 feeling nauseous as type this, and I’m a raw oyster lover. The mixtures of textures were just too hard to swallow. Our favorite was the molcajetes. We had the ceilo mar y tierra. It was delicious. The home made tortillas were bomb too. If I go back imma skip the apps and go for...
