We tried this place a couple of times before but couldnt get in as the owner is always saying they are fully booked. We feel like teppan today and being an early tuesday afternoon, we thought we prob have better luck and gave it a try. Started calling but didnt get through, and eventually it just goes to voicemail saying they are fully booked. Decided to just show up and see what happens, the owner still has the same stressful look like the restaurant is over booked, even though it look half empty. He hesitated a bit, or at least pretending to look hesitated, and decided to let us in together with a party of 4 in front of us. So we finally got lucky
The place is very cozy and smokey so I guess the ambiance is good in the sense that it's very appropriate to teppanyaki. The soup is just like any other teppan places, no ingredients just msg and water pretty much with strings of onion. Salad is also generic like other places. The fried rice and teppan dishes are great, not the greatest I've tried but on the better end of the spectrum: I like my fried rice a bit overcooked and it was just that, the chicken was not too dry (despite all chicken breast tend to be drier anyways) and the shrimp is pretty good ( a bit overcooked). The chef Roy was full of energy and did quite a number of tricks to please the kids in the next table. Overall a great effort and we finished all the food. A solid spot for sure!
So you either try to get a table by calling early, or just try your luck for an early dinner. If it's at prime dinner time, forget it you...
Read moreI discover this place recently and hoped I can get a reservation over the weekend as it was told by others that either the voicemail was full or one did not get a phone call during the busy days. With a couple of phone call attempts, I decided to leave a voicemail and was quite happy to confirm my reservation over a returned phone call from Mori san. My husband and I really enjoyed teppanyaki from this place and both of us were very satisfied by the delicious food we had tonight. The staffs were extremely kind and friendly, very homely and casual setting which is great for family meal or over a date. We ordered NY steak with shrimp and calamari. Having to visit Japan several times, I truly appreciated the clean and fresh taste of each ingredient with light seasoning. No excessive sauce needed and when ingredient is good, it was just the way it should be. We loved the quality of beef and seafood we had today, even the grilled veggies were so awesome. Both of us are looking forward to coming back here whenever we crave the authentic Japanese teppayaki around...

There’s something timeless about Mori’s. It’s not just the food - it’s the feeling. From the moment we walked in, Mori himself greeted us and helped us get settled. A legend in his own right, his presence added a deeply personal touch that made the meal feel like more than just dinner - it felt like a tradition.
My mom was visiting from out of town, and this was one of the first places on our list. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked - tender and flavorful. The vegetables and rice were simple but done just right.
But what really stood out - beyond the food - were the walls. Lined with photos, memories, and drawings created by children who’ve passed through these doors, the restaurant tells a quiet story of community, connection, and legacy.
It’s clear Mori’s is more than a restaurant - it’s a place where families return, time and time again.
Overall, a very good experience. A solid 4 out of 5 - only because I know that next time, there’s a chance it could be...
