Zhengyalov Hatz — Restaurant in Glendale

I've been watching this place for a while and wanting to find the time to drop in. Today I got to have the most lovely lunch experience there. Their signature dish is a rolled sandwich of sorts, flat bread with a wonderful concoction of 12 herbs and then rolled up to eat. It is absolutely delicious. It's a hot food they make it on the flat top so the bread is toasty and the herbs warm and aromatic. It's a good size portion and I snarfed mine completely. Although it was enough food, I loved it so much I almost ordered another one so that the taste experience would never end. Along with my sandwich roll I got a pot of thyme and mint tea which is a clear glass pot filled with fresh herbs and boiling water sat over a candle to keep it hot. It is so delicious and aromatic and the perfect compliment to the roll. I'm in love and I'm going to come many many more times in the future. The service is really quite lovely and fast and everyone was very kind to me and willing to answer my questions. Do yourself a favor and try this place out you will not be sorry! Noted by Michelin guide. My husband is half Armenian so I had eaten Lahmajuns before but I had never heard of Zhengyalov Hatz which apparently the national dish of Armenia! It’s filled with all sorts of herbs and greens and the dough is being rolled out in front of your eyes are you wait. This is my new favorite snack/meal. Their shawarma is cooked by coals. Their lahmajuns are also made to order. I have always taken to go but I can’t wait to take my husband and get a pot of tea in one or their beautiful kettles. It seems family run to me and I’m just so glad Michelin pointed it out because I love it so much. I can’t wait for my in-laws to come out so I can take them there.
