I have never really wrote a horrible review before, but this one needed to be done WARNING TO ANYBODY LOOKING FOR JOBS HR DOESN'T EXIST, (not to any be-fault of her own - she has a horrible boss). What a shame. Talk about people who are narcissistic and bring their friends in to run their stores. They do not know what taking responsibility is and they don't follow logic. Working for them felt like working for high schoolers. Looks like a great place to work but has run themselves into the ground :( They market themselves as a black and white ran business when it came to actual business they are completely gray. I should have known by the test, but I've been loyal to the places I was before so I was pretty naive when it comes to looking for red flags. I did this test over three years ago and I still remember the true or false question they had. "We are lucky to have you as an employee", and the right answer was "false". What a joke. Anyways, I had started working for the company, and it seemed pretty good in the beginning. They had hardworking loyal employees, and the place buzzed and there would be hard nights, but the restaurant ran somewhat smoothly. After the operations team brought in the manager Susan's bestie, Christie to help co-manage, it started turning into a nightmare. Monthly meetings were no longer about what we have done good and what we could do better. They now felt like I came into a meeting just to get scolded at, and getting told that if silverware keeps going missing, they'll grab mini pools and put the trash in there for us to go digging for their precious silverware. They will also yell at us for not reusing silverware and baskets that have touched the table but "look clean". Be afraid to ask questions or clarifications because they will call you disgruntled and incompetent. (Only reasons questions were asked was because they change their policies without letting people know haha) The company is ran on the fear of getting fired at any moment, and I started loosing my hair and weight. Then, one day, I accidentally pour a 6th big beer which is a BIG NO NO. I have seen multiple people be fired for it. Then Christie and Susan, hide the fact that I do that, not firing me. I'll admit, I was happy I had a job. But I can also acknowledge when I make a mistake, and I had expected to be fired at the end of my shift (yes, they will talk about firing you all day but then wait until you come in and are ready for your shift, and maybe you'll get lucky and they won't use you. Them covering that up caused anxiety because I saw Christie's temper take away tons of great servers and regulars. The Operations team was totally fine with it and even gave her her own store. Speaking of the operations team, they helped when they wanted to, but were pretty much free range to do whatever. Considering they know their one HR person and are pretty close friends. Maybe you'll get lucky and have to serve them during a rush just for them to criticize how fast you were working. Shops would get “busted for closetoed crocks and unzipped jackets” when i specifically remember Josh Fletcher telling us our jackets had to be unzipped and I definitely remember Susan telling us that crocks were good because I WAS THERE DURING THE POLICY CHANGE. They were close toed and non slip. i was also there when they finally allowed us to where laces lol. They don't bother working when the actual rush is happening. It's a horrible company ran by a horrible person. The way they speak to their employees is also just sad to watch. Mainly because they know they'll get away with it. These people have a very good mask, but they are not fun to work with unless you are able to pull through for some money. Worked here for two years. So glad I am gone, and I am sorry for anyone who has also had to make the same mistake themselves by...
Read moreAfter giving this particular Zipps the benefit of the doubt multiple times we will not be back. the previous 2 visits we had to send food back and this time was no different, except that the service was horrible on top of it.
Our server Hayley was not at all attentive and extremely rude. She only came by the table to drop off the food and ask if we wanted more beer once (my partners beer had been empty for a while). We ordered an appetizer of the nachos , meat added on and all toppings added on. We also ordered fish and chips.
40minutes later The appetizer came out ALONGSIDE our fish and chips meal. that's not how an appetizer works, it also should not take 40minutes to make fish and chips, and definitely not that long to make nachos!
The cheese was stiff and the meat was cold. I asked for the nachos to be remade. Our server took them away while rolling her eyes and giving us an "ughhh". The manager in training came back over with the nachos is hand. I explained it is cold and the cheese is hard from sitting so long (I picked up the cheese to show it was a completly hard and cold) We just wanted them remade.
Hayley then came back to specifically tell us that" if the second round of nachos come out and we're are not happy with them that they will NOT remove them from the bill"
YES she actually came back to our table (when there was no need) to tell us this and then immediately walked away rolling her eyes at us again. SO Unprofessional! She then walked over to the POS system and was complaining about us to her co worker. We were sitting in a booth right by the expo where the POS system is and could hear them.
I then asked for the manager. This time it was the main manager on duty , not the one in training. She came by, I explained the situation. Told her to cancel the nacho remake take it off and bring the check we will be leaving. She seemed annoyed, apologized once and then blamed it on the kitchen. She walked away and about 20 seconds later Hayley (who had been listening to our conversation with the manger) walked up before the manager could even talk to her and literally dropped the check presenter on the table and said "you wanted this?" And then walked away. I can not believe how rude she was.
The manager came and ran our check, brought it back and said "sorry about that, have a good night turned and walked away".
The fish in chips were great, the rest of the food and service was absolutely horrible AGAIN!! We will find somewhere...
Read moreDISGUSTED!!!!! Long time customer 15+ yrs but NO MORE! The last 4yrs the Glendale location every year has really gone down hill especially in 2024. Constant turn over and bad management. Her is my issue. On Jan 5th 2025 afternoon visit to Zipps, friendly bartender as always but things went down hill once we received our food. The burger we received looked like a well done McDonald's cheeseburger and to think ZIPPS has the nerve to call their burgers "Specialty Burgers". My buddy was starving but at halfway through he just couldn't do it, burger was unacceptable at $15.75, the burger was dry and tasteless, even staff new it was bad. Due to the staff must be babysat a manager was called by the name of Mary, WOW what a useless, arrogant, cocky young manager. She stood there and argued with us that the burger had been eaten, we explained how would we know it was bad if didn't eat a portion? A replacement burger would have been the right move but she continued to argue with us in front of customers and wouldn't even remove from bill. (That is how Zipps managers are trained, FACT! This comes from employees I know, the customer is always wrong and stand your ground) Even if we didn't touch the burger we still would have been stuck with it because we ordered it. Manager proceeded to say what do think this is Chick-fil-A. (I have know idea what that means, Anyone?) As we continued to go R&R with her we decided she has no clue what customer service is and that is the corporate mindset of Zipps when it comes to their customers. After wasting are time we agreed no way we're staying and giving this place our business.
So many other Sports Bar options here in the Valley and people need to realize behind the scenes this company is awful. I have canceled all my vendor options for people to buy Zipps gift cards and no one in my personal circle will ever go to any location again. (Not that they care) I'm not sure what kind of environment Todd Goldman is trying to breed and maybe all the money he is making has blinded him and has forgotten how to properly have his Managers...
