Cook Out — Restaurant in Goldsboro

restaurant was not the cleanest when I went in on Saturday. Went straight to the counter and was looked at by three employees, but none even tried to acknowledge me. Finally after standing at the counter waiting to place my order for seven minutes, another employee finally came around the corner from the back at an extremely slow pace and mumbled something to me. I told him sorry but could you repeat that. I found out that he was trying to ask me what I wanted. I placed my order, which he never acknowledged what I said and took a long time for him to find the items on his screen. Eventually he just told me the total. I gave him my credit card, since they do not have devices for the customer to input it, but it would not go through due to an issue with his machine. He mumbled something about a manager, and then walked away very slowly again this time carrying my credit card. After about four minutes he finally came back not moving fast and then another two minutes the manager appeared. She ended up needing to trasfer theorder to theother cash register since the one the male employee rang me up on had a broken credit card machine. Finally got the order in after about fifteen minutes in the restaurant. When the food came it tasted fairly good, but the inside of the restaurant was greasy and dirty everywhere. Overall the customer service was very slow, and to a point rude since many employees saw me but would not acknowledge me. Do not want to call it racist but it really felt that way. I ate there last year when I visited my son and the place was great. Boy what a year makes, the employees now seem like they do not want to be there, and are taking it out on the customers, or at least...

More interested in speed than actual quality customer service, which is a shame because this is the first Cook Out that has consistently disappointed me. I'm accustomed to Cook Out being a quality establishment that takes the time to listen to customers and get their orders correct. In fact I've never had a complaint about a Cook Out until I came to this one. But time and again they mess my order up, and given that every other Cook Out I've ever been to has gotten it right, the problem is clearly with this establishment, not with my order.

My standard order is a Big Double Tray with cheese, bacon, BBQ, and light onions. This place can never seem to get that right. Most recently, what they put on my receipt was "Big Double, cheese, out west style, no pickles, lite onion"

I didn't order an "out west style" and ended up with unwanted mayonnaise on my sandwich. If the employees cared more about customer service than they did about speed, such a mistake would not have happened. Is it really that difficult to ring in my order exactly as I ordered it? Evidently so. Which is a shame.

I generally love Cook Out, but I cannot recommend this particular establishment. I've ordered from them several times and have yet to receive exactly what I ordered. I don't think I'll be giving them...

I stopped in for a grilled chicken sandwich. I opted for the regular chicken tray, original style, that comes with two sides and a drink. I did request adding grilled onions, onions and pickles that were free add-ons. The chicken breast was moist and covered the bun. The sandwich, perfectly seasoned, was delicious! My sides were cheese bites and onion rings. There weren't many, approx. 5 of each. They were hot and crispy. The cheese bites were hot with a nice cheesy pull when bitten. I ate them on the drive so I can't tell you if they would still be good after cooling. The tea was definitely a southern sweet tea, sweetly good. The restaurant's rating was 97. The dining area was clean and sparsely decorated. The ladies' restroom was also clean. The water was not hot but as I was washing my hands the temperature was increasing. Unfortunately, only one stall was available on this visit. The cashier who may have been new, he asked a co-worker a question to make sure he had taken my order correctly, was friendly. He also responded patiently to the request of condiments and supplies from customers in line ahead of me. Hopefully future visits will be as pleasant as this one was. The cost of this meal was...
