I’m excited for the first Moe’s in AZ. I’ve been going to Moe’s for years when I lived back east and it was one of my favorite places to eat. So, this review is comparing this experience to my many prior Moe’s experiences at established Moe’s locations, because Moe’s has always been five stars for me.
This location is very small compared to every location I’ve ever been to. Very limited seating.
My burrito wasn’t quite what a normal Moe’s burrito should be. It was a little on the small side, but seemed like staff was still being trained. The tortilla also seemed different. I don’t know if it’s actually a different tortilla being used. I think they just didn’t press the tortilla in the press/warmer thing as much as normal. The ingredients in the burrito were good and tasted like classic Moe’s besides the tortilla.
The chips were a little bland. Some were overcooked and not fresh and some were undercooked. The queso was great, I missed it. One thing that was disappointing is they usually give you extra chips if you buy a cup or bowl of queso, but they didn’t for us.
Overall, it was a little disappointing and not quite the proper Moe’s experience, but I’m sure it will get better with time given that this is the first location in AZ and it’s all brand new new staff. I will be back to...
Read moreSuch friendly staff! “Welcome to Moe’s” announced every time someone walks in. Great family friendly environment.
3 Stars- The Stacker and Steak Soft Taco were just okay. The steak was decently tender but appeared to be boiled/baked, was grey in color, and not a lot of flavor/seasoning. The tomatillo salsa and guacamole were decent, but not something I would order again. I did appreciate the lemon, or lime juice added in the guacamole, it definitely helped. The house made salsa was better than some restaurants I have been to. I thought the chocolate chip cookie was going to be hard as a rock but when I had a bite it was soft, which was a pleasant surprise. Not a bad cookie at all.
4 Stars - within the Stacker was fresh pico, veggies - onions and green peppers. The pico was delicious. I could see the browning on the veggies, that they were grilled or sautéed which is nice. The queso was light and had good flavor. The spicy house made salsa was very good as well. A tad bit spicy, but big flavor.
3* = Just Okay 4** = Set themselves a part with quality food and I want to go back. 5*= You have to go out of your way and make a special trip to try the deliciousness...
Read moreUsed to go the Moe's at Westgate around 2010 when I worked there. Was excited when I heard they were coming back. Came here a week after opening and disappointed 😢. They use flour tortillas that taste like plastic, the kind you find at Fry's on sale. Left a nasty aftertaste as they weren't authentic, chipotle has better ones. The chicken was seasoned good but the lack of salsa selections was a bummer. The kid didn't know how to fold a burrito, manager had to step in and do it. Went in one more time for nachos (favorite back then). The cheese is how I remember but the portions have gotten smaller with the prices higher. They used to put them in a white square container and load it up, enough to share with 2-3 people. Now it looks like a container for Taco Bell nachos. I know nothing will be the same as years ago but to call this place Mex food is...
