EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED...My family and I have been a customer of grassroots since they opened. My son and I went today and were sadly disappointed. They have reversed the process in which you order ice cream. Initially when you walk through the doors you would go to the left be able to see the menu, go through the line, pick your ice cream and then pay for it.
Now, when you walk in you go to the right (can’t see the menu at all) immediately pay for ice cream and you don’t even know what you want. This evening in the middle of all the confusion, a worker came up to me with a handheld scanner attempted to take my order, you could barely hear him because of all the noise, you can’t see the menu on his little handheld device and was cornered by their large refrigerator. As I was placing/paying my order another employee found it appropriate to open the refrigerator (that the three of us were standing in front of) put in an items without even saying excuse me. IT WAS THE BIGGEST FIASCO I HAVE EVER SEEN! They were not even as busy as I have seen them in the past. They had 8 workers and you could see each employee flustered behind the counter.
Needless to say, my order was incorrect and I spoke with four customers outside and all of them received incorrect orders as well. In addition to not being organized, people who were at the end of the line received their orders before others. They had about eight people working end it was not even that busy. There was no organization at all, PURE CHAOS!
I spoke with the owner and she said today was her first day opening; however, upon researching, they have been open and providing curbside service. It could possibly have been the first day the parlor was open, I don’t know. In speaking with her, she implied the facility has been closed for a year and a half (die to covid) and today was literally their first day open. I let her know of my concern regarding the overcrowding at the register, being shoved into the refrigerator and not being able to see the ice cream menu. She made me fee like I was bothering her and her reply was “we had to change the flow of traffic due to the way their systems process.” Which makes no sense to me at all. I was attempting to give her constructive criticism as I saw many frustrated customers and incorrect orders; however, she seemed a bit flippant about my concern.
Needless to say my family and I will definitely not be going back anytime soon until I hear they have found a way to assist customers in a much more effective manner. It’s unfortunate as previously they ran their business very effectively with less employees.

Read moreTook a 45 minute drive out here based on the recommendation from a coworker. Definitely "meh" in my book, and I've had a ton of ice cream. Maybe because they don't have much competition in the area, people seem to think it's the best thing going. Flavors, although they're a bit unique, lacked a rich full flavor. It was almost as if the ice cream was a bit dull and watered down. Overall I'd say just an average ice cream spot..what also really left a sour impression was the attitude of the girl working the front. There was literally a line of maybe 4-5 people total. 2 people in front of me asked for samples which she happily provided. When I asked to try 1 flavor, I got an attitude and a response "well we are just way too busy so you can't try anything." I said, you literally just gave out 3 samples 2 seconds ago, why not now? She scoffed and proceeded to hastily scoop a sample for me to try while rolling her eyes. Not a good first impression at all. If I am visiting for the first time and drive 45 minutes, I'd be pretty upset if I just spent $5 on 1 scoop that I didn't like. That's why samples exist. Dine here if you like horrible service from a kid who is more focused on there phones then their jobs. Dine here if you like unoriginal food that is also tasteless. This isn't just a rant from a former employee, this is the rant of a father that was promised one thing and they didn't deliver. I tried in my short time there to elevate them and get them to a point where they would be able to grow their business and I was terminated for exercising my right to free speech. I put 110% effort into this place while the nonexistent owners are never there or on vacation in Mexico. Not mention all the things they do wrong when it comes to the health code. Every single employee deserves to get fired excluding the one who actually knows what they are doing and she knows who she is. So ill end this with I'm at piece with the fact that I now get to sit back and watch them fail.
