I’ve been here many time and the food is always fantastic, the service too. With that being said I went here on Mother’s Day and enjoyed everything but the host. We went in around 4pm hoping to do happy hour outside, before we were even in the door the host was yelling to us. The host informed us they weren’t taking walks in until 5 maybe not even until 7, which is fine it’s a holiday restaurant can be busy. My issue was the lack of customer service and honestly the rudeness as if we were a bother, before I even finished asking to be sat we were told no, I couldn’t get a word out before being talked over. Then as we were walking out the door the host yell to us that we could try another place because “we own that too” but cause we were out the door I didn’t even hear where. Once in the car I decided to look to see if maybe we could make a reservation for later and to my surprise there was open reservation in less than 15 minute and every 15 minutes after that so explain to be why you weren’t even booked but couldn’t take walk ins. So I booked one and when we got there we were asked if it was ok that they had us in the sun and that wasn’t a problem except for the fact that we got sat at a table that had two terrible chair that looked like they should have cushions to put on them but they were missing, if you know you know. I 100% believe the host sat us there on purpose because of the prior altercation and even if they didn’t those chair shouldn’t even be an option to be sat at, I had to ask to switch chairs for my mom because she was so uncomfortable. While out there in the sun with no umbrella in crappy chairs there were multiple other nicer tables around us never used the whole time we were there. And yes I know how sections work and that it’s based on the amount of servers but some of those table had been used recently due to them still being dirty and what would be the difference of us at a nicer table or the one we were at. Also didn’t even get to do happy hour because they had a Mother’s Day menu that wasn’t all that great. In all I will be more cautious going there simply due to the service I receive as soon as I walked in the door and not sure how much I’ll recommend it...

I am writing to express my disappointment with your restaurant experienced on Saturday July 10th. My boyfriend made reservations for my birthday dinner at 7:00pm. We arrived promptly. We were seated and given menus and water. We were not given a drink menu. We proceeded to wait patiently for our server. After 15 minutes, we were given more water and asked that person to please find out who our server was. She spoke with the manager. After another minute the manager (head hostess?) came over and asked if we’d like a drink. We stated that we needed a drink menu. She brought one and said a server would take care of us shortly. We were noticing that parties seated around us were being taken care of and had been served drinks and were ordering. A server finally came over and took our drink order. We proceeded to wait another 15 minutes. The server came quickly by our table at approximately 7:30 ( we were seated at 7 ) and stated that our drinks were coming soon but did NOT bother to stop and ask if we were ready to order anything ( we did want to order appetizers). We waited another 5 minutes. At this point we did not feel that it would be worth it for us to spend money at your restaurant (we had planned to order apps, drinks, dinner and dessert). We got up and walked out without receiving anything more than water after waiting 40 minutes. The manager/hostess looked right at me as we left and did not say a word. I am so extremely disappointed with the service of your establishment. We have eaten here before and I looked forward to a nice birthday dinner. I sincerely hope that you will take note of this terrible experience and improve upon your service- especially how to handle this type of situation in the future. It seemed like the hostess and servers were very stressed and disorganized. But this is no excuse for our circumstance. I attempted to send this in an email directly to the restaurant instead of posting publicly. My email...

Update review on August, 24th 2025

This place it is still one of my favorites in Connecticut, we stopped on the Anniversary weekend due we love the place, they made a dinner on the weekend of Aug, 22nd, that I wasn't able to attend due other compromise, otherwise will definitely attended.

We stopped on the 24th due were taking a bike ride around Ganby, saw the place, banged a U-ey (U turn in Boston slang). Well, we just end the ride and return back.

I order my fav to start, Now & Zeen, thst was in the Back East brewery (love that place too), and order some of the special for the anniversary that were out of this world - brisket tacos and short ribs with mushrooms Yumi Yumi.

There have been not time that I do not like something due everything is quality and amazing flavor.

Place is amazing for any type of situation, as lunch, regular or formal dinner or just stop for some appetizers and drinks, the cocktails are just the best and best Tom Collins in US, if you like gin ask for the gin of the month, always accommodation. You like oysters, check for happy hour deals, youll find them in a effortable cost.

I entirely recommend this place 100%, still being a place that I frequently visit due is one of my favorites on the State.

Service is the best - you Rock @t te barn team! Always amazing

GF OPTIONS HERE!!! When you first walk in to the restaurant you get a nice classic rustic feel, its like homie feel. Once you get seated you are sat with water glasses, napkins and silverware at the table already. Our waiter came by with waters and filled pur glasses. She then asked for our drink orders and if we wanted appetizers. I stuck with just a water but my sister ordered a lemonade. For our appetizer I ordered the Truffle Fries. Once my sister got her lemonade and my appetizer, she said it tasted like bottled lemon, but the way it looked it looked good. The presentation of the lemonade was really nice. The Truffle Fries were really good, the presentation of the fries were really nice as well. We took our time looking at the menu, it was a lengthy menu that is kind of hard to see. I ordered the chicken quesadillas with no sour cream, my sister ordered chicken tenders. It took about 15-20 minutes for our food to come out. The food presentation was nice, but could of been better. The guacamole could of used some seasoning and less lime as well. The quesadilla was good, but living down in Texas I have had better. The chicken tenders did look small but they fill you up. The waiter did check up on us, but it would have been nice to have a check up from the manager. All in all the food was good and the service was good as well. I would suggest this place for a cute date night or lunch. Do Not bring your kids here. Not a kids place.

3.5 stars. @ the barn restaurant is part of the Zen Restaurant Group; there is @ the rooftop, La Figata, Table 570, Han Asian Cusine, and Z Catering. We decided to have a late lunch here with our guest from Florida. We missed brunch by a couple of minutes, they stopped it at 3pm. The menu was vast with a ton of options. The dinner entrees were pricey, running around $30 per dish. We got the Mac and cheese from the kids menu for my kids; they seemed to enjoy it. For my drink, I got the caramel espresso martini, which had caramel vodka, Kahlua, Bailey's chocolate, and lavazza espresso for $15, it was tasty but pricey. My entree, I had the buttermilk chicken rice bowl $16; this came with rice & beans, pico de Gallo, and avocado. The meal was good. The rice had delicious flavor and the chicken had a palatable crispy batter. We also had the Parmesan truffle fries which were decent. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals and drinks. The service was okay, kind of slow, since our waitress had a bunch of patrons sit in her section all at once. I won't fault her for that, she was trying her best. The patio was a great spot to sit on a warm autumn afternoon. The building was pretty cool looking, it did look like a barn. Overall, prices were on the high side and the food was average to slightly above average. However, my family and I would return, more so for lunch and brunch.
