After our hike to Ender State Forest, we hit up Icy Rolls 10 Hartford St Granby, CT 860-413-3254 One thing I always wanted to do - own a gelato shop. So I love ice cream - and can be snobby about it tbh. I always research col food places that are near our hikes - so I was intrigues when I saw this and wanted to try it. I wasn't sure if the texture would be creamy - or icy, like an ice milk. It was creamy! I was so pleasantly surprised - This - is an experience. It can be overwhelming with choice - you can choose what kind of ice cream to create for you and I began with mint ice cream, Neil went with vanilla and Oreos. We were fascinated by the process. We selected our toppings - and the drum roll please.......that first bite - was heaven!!!! We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and recommend it! They are under new ownership - I am sorry to say I do not have the name of the new owner, who was so sweet, but her vision for choice is a winner and I predict she will have to expand to other areas once people have a taste! #granbyct #ct #connecticut #icyrolls #ctfoodie #ctfoodies #cticecream #cteats #thingstodoinct #thingstodoinctwithkids

Icy Rolls is tucked away in the corner of a small plaza. They have a nicely shaded outdoor seating area you’ll walk by as you enter. This is the second place I’ve gone to that serves Thai iced rolls and I am a big fan of the first one, Absolute Zero in Northampton, MA. It’s tough to not compare this to Absolute Zero. They have a fast paced, excited staff that’s engaging and really make a show out of the process. The vibe is infectious and represents Northampton well. Juxtaposed with the staff at Icy Rolls is a disappointment. They were polite but you could tell that neither of them wanted to be there. They moved slowly and it was really boring to see them prepare something that normally looks so cool. They have 12 pre-made menu items, but of course you can customize them if you wish. No seasonal menu like Absolute Zero. The flavor selection is pretty standard and unadventurous. I ordered the Morning Coffee flavor. It was pretty good but you can tell the chocolate sauce is the cheap stuff and not freshly made or high quality. I’m giving it 3 stars because the ice cream was good but the atmosphere was lack luster. It’s still a great place to bring your kids and try it out if you’ve never experienced Thai Iced Rolls. Lastly, the sign outside says “Stir-Fried Ice Cream”. I don’t know where they got this from because this ice cream is in no way fried.

Icy Rolls serves stir fried ice cream or rolled ice cream and bubble tea. This type of ice cream originated from Thailand. They use a mixture of cream, milk, sugar, and other ingredients; this mixture gets poured over a very cold ice pan. They constantly mix/stir it, then flatten it, and roll it up. After, toppings can be added onto it. I had the French toast which was very tasty; it was sweet and extra cold and reminded me of cinnamon toast crunch. I had one topping, the marshmallows, which I don't recommend since it was stale. I also had the taro boba tea sans the boba pearls; they didn't have any but I still had the taro tea and it was good. My toddler had the birthday cake flavored rolled ice cream and he loved it, especially with the m&m and gummy bear toppings. The location was convenient; it was in a plaza with plenty of parking. The employee was friendly. Overall, a good spot to get this type of specialty ice cream, without going to Thailand.

I was soooo excited to come in here and find they sell bubble tea and at a great price! I pass here on my way to and from work and I even said to my boyfriend OMG I am going to come here every day! However my excitement turned to sadness with how long it took to get my bubble tea. Granted it was sorta busy but bubble tea takes about a minute to make but there was 6 icy rolls infront of mine so I had to stand there and wait about 30 minutes for them to finish the icy rolls. And then once I got it I was extremely disappointed, the tapioca bubbles were not bubbles! They were like minced up gel it was disgusting I couldn't drink it! I was soo upset the next day I drove to Northampton to get a...
