I feel a little grumpy writing a less than glowing review, as others are so happy with their experience, but here goes. I was eager to try this healthy addition to Grand Forks food options. The food was quite good; not cheap, but a healthy portion with fresh ingredients. The menu is clearly marked for various food restrictions, which (as a long time gluten-free diner) I really appreciate. I got the featured salad, honey and spice, which was nice, but not mind blowing. The honey mustard dressing was just okay and the blackened chicken was not very flavorful. They left off the walnuts - I had to go back and get them when I realized they were missing.
The ordering process was surpringly perfunctory - you have to know what you want, they apparently aren't there to help. And, when you go to through the line, you get no opportunity to customize your order, unless you shout over the partition. When I got to the dressing station, she asked me if I wanted the recommended amount of dressing - how could I possibly know what that is?
My biggest complaint, besides the indifferent service (considering they just opened a few days ago, you think they'd be trying to ensure people have a really positive experience), was the surly attitude I got when I expressed a concern about gluten: you can get chips or bread at the end of the line and I asked for chips, but the person waiting on me reached for the bread, and I said, "don't touch the bread before you touch my chips." She got very offended. Among other things, she said "you have to ask for allergy accommodation at the beginning of the line." I think ensuring my food isn't cross contaminated is reasonable at any point in the ordering process. I've been gluten-free for 25 years and I've gotten poisoned by careless people so many times. Her attitude was really off-putting. Next time, I will use the app, so I can easily customize my order and I don't have to interact...
Read moreOkay, posting only from MY multiple experiences and from the point of view of someone also in the food service industry myself. Take my review as you would like but The food is very good, I've enjoyed coming here STRICTLY for the food. It's a bit pricier than other food places but it's worth it considering its a healthier option. Now as far as atmosphere it's a little crowded and loud but again. Not a bad thing over all just feels at times a little claustrophobic. Never, NEVER in my life have I felt like an imbecile like I constantly have at this place. The workers who make the bowls up front have terrible energy and attitudes. I've come here 7 different times and each time it's just uncomfortable and awkawrd . Everyone seems so miserable, asking a question feels like hell because the reactions you get back pretty much make you feel stupid. There's several employees especially who just have an attitude for no reason. I work in fast food myself and I get it, customers can be rude or have unrealistic expectations, but the employees at the cash register and the serving like have such mean girl attitudes and it makes for a bad experience. I'm guessing the manager just doesn't know or doesn't care. Don't work in the service industry if your just going to put out mean girl , passive aggressive rolling your eyes attitudes. My advice to them is learn to smile and ease up on your customers . At this point I rather save myself the attitudes and disdain and make myself similar meals at home. The foods great but your employees could learn a thing or two about...
Read moreI’m always nervous about trying a new eatery- standing in line with people behind me and trying to decifer the menu options in an expedient and thorough way taking into account those behind me are probably in a hurry…….no different here! I find the menu confusing and daunting-so many food options which is a good thing but extra charges for different items and depending on the food item the extra charge could be even a tier higher, which means making a bowl with your configuration could be quite expensive! So I stayed in the lines and, went with the Seoul Bowl and added in black beans and hummus for a small extra charge because I wanted the extra protein. I appreciated the bowl artist- after applying the special sauce actually mixing it all up in a separate bowl, so that special sauce was evenly distributed to every bite I ate. After mixing, poured into a nice clean bowl for presentation and consumption. Nice touch. Bummer, thought I took a picture of my lunch bowl to add to this post but did not. My wife had the Fiesta bowl, which was my second choice. Her opinion was it’s very good! Worth getting again. I will definitely go back next time in Grand Forks. It’s a bit on the expensive side in my opinion but I kinda figured it out when I walked in. The decor is very contemporary and sharp, the washrooms meticulously tiled and the soaps are top shelf. I appreciate but, you pay...
