I didn't enjoy my visit to this bar. The food was unremarkable, not bad just not worth repeating the experience. There's much, much better in Grand Forks. I also thought it really substandard that when you order a glass of water, that's what you get, no ice, just room temperature water. Nice. Same thing if you order a soda. Yeah, I can accept a can of soda but would it be too much to serve it with a glass containing ice? Oh sure, I could have asked for it but why should I have to? I truly took exception with the service. I'm ashamed to admit I tipped this person what I would have tipped for good service. I did so as I was dining with a friend who works very close to this place, goes there for convenience, and I didn't want to embarrass him. She wasn't worth it though and I felt dirty doing it. Why was I dissatisfied with the service? First, when I am holding up the menu, reading it, I'm clearly not ready to order. Is this not obvious? She could have asked if we had any questions about the menu but no. Second, the server, in my opinion, is responsible for making sure that what the patron ordered is what the kitchen turned out. Someone else delivered the food but this does not clear her from this hard fail. I was sitting next to my friend who ordered a plain hamburger but with bacon and grilled onions, clear as a bell. It came out as just a plain hamburger. This was brought to the server's attention and she didn't deny that the order came out wrong. To her credit, she offered a fresh hamburger done as ordered. This is a no win situation. The new burger would probably be done right but then the other three at our table will likely be close to being finished and his fries will be eaten or cold. He just asked for the bacon and grilled onions to come out separately but then he has a cold burger with hot toppings. Nice job, JL Beers.
I clearly will never be back. Not horrible, just not worth it and there's much...
Read moreMy first time going and I was happily surprised. Without a doubt the best burger ever in GF. The Rajun Cajun with the pamesean garlic fries was a great combo. The burger was well seasoned and juicy. My server, Erin was fun and very helpful. I got to try the Magners Pear Cider and it was awesome, not super sweet and just the right amount of dryness, great pairing. Don't know why it took me so long to go, but I'm glad I did. Definitely will be back. UPDATE: Been back several times now, the food doesn't disappoint. Just wish when I ask for really crispy fries, I get them that way. The blackberry cider was excellent, might be better than the pear. JUNE 30TH, The Nashville Hot Chicken with cole slaw was fantastic. Lots of flavor and really enjoyable. Still waiting on those crispy fries, I don't care for those whimpy and soggy fries. The beer cheese sauce and the jalapeños ranch are a great complement. SEPT 2OTH, another fantastic burger, the bacon beer cheese. Hit the spot with the right tang to the sauce and sauted onions. NOV 2-the bacon jam burger was perfect. Lots of flavor, but for me a hint of heat would've put it over the top. I paired it with bbq chips and the triple berry cider-yummy. MAR 2nd update: tried the humpty dumpy burger for the first time. My new favorite with the bacon jam, yummy. The apple pie cider was outstanding, liquid version of eating an apple pie. Keep bringing these new ciders, they are a hit. MAR 30th, tried the Buffalo blue chips, very tasty and lots of blue cheese. Both burgers were tasty, the Columbia burger and the beer cheese burger. Quality food at a reasonable price. UPDATE - Jul 1st, the Bacon Jam burger and the new Let's Make Dill burger are new favorites, genius. Definitely better to eat it at the restaurant instead of a to go order. Hot and fresh is the...
