I was Blown away!!!! I went to this Vidora 12/23/24 with very little expectation because I had PREVIOUSLY visited Twin Peaks 3120 State Hwy 161, Grand Prairie, TX 75052(please see my review) in the area and was extremely disappointed with the food, the service, the ability to park and management and had come to expect poor service and customer appreciation in the Grand Prairie area and vowed not to eat here in the future as I prefer to patron and give my hard earned money to a establishment that values its reputation and your patronage. I would like to say my does a change in location make a difference. First off this is s very large restaurant with sitting areas inside, outside and upstairs which was great as the SEATING inside downstairs alone is limited to a somewhat small area. I was happy with the additional seating choices as it literally took less than 5 minutes to be seated with a party of 3. The area was full of patrons but I could tell the staff and management team had an aggressive yet subtle way of paying attention to every detail and although I was only there ten minutes I was already impressed. We were initially told that our table would be a few minutes and we could visit the bar until it was and upon going to the bar were advised we were there 10 minutes prior to the end of happy hour and ordered the frozen house margarita which was nice not as strong as one from Glorias but still a very nice and refreshing cocktail. We chose to sit outside as the weather permitted and the upstairs was closed. Immediately upon being seated we were greeted by probably the best waiter/server I have encountered in quite a while he provided chips and salsas which the green was my favorite advised us that it was Margarita Monday(although the bartender had failed to)and the margaritas were half off and advised which menu items customers prefer based on palate and taste preference whether it was hot, sweet, citrusy or savory. I mean this guy was ON POINT to say the least and I chose the 3 taco combo which consisted of trompo beef, carnitas and barbacoa and it was extremely tasty and the plate presentation was nice also in my haste I failed to take pictures but I was blown away the meat to tortilla ratio was great not to much meat not too much bread I honestly didn't get the chance to taste the rice and beans but I assume they were as craftly prepared as the tacos as they looked good and an el guapo margarita. The drink and arrived in less than 5 and the food came in less than 10 minutes wow this was great. We watched the light show as our server came by several times throughout the evening to ensure we were satisfied had any questions or wanted to order anything else. The cherry on top was the manager even walked by and asked how was the meal and was helping serve which was also impressive as this has become rare in todays times. In closing I want to again applaud our server ERIC as he served with a smile, had ample small talk, was inviting, well versed on the menu and even had quality recommendations. If I could give VIDORA 10 stars I would as they have exceeded my GRAND PRAIRIE expectations by leaps and BOUNDS. If Grand Prairie plans to increase its Restaurant destination patrons in the DFW area ERIC and VIDORA is a perfect example of what a restaurant should be a place that takes pride in its establishment and knows how to read and serve its patrons and yes I will be back this week possibly today for taco tuesday... Thank you for reading and as...
Read moreWent here on Saturday April 13th, 2024. From 12.30pm to 2pm. They appeared to be about at 60% capacity. I had never been here before, and visited because I live nearby. First of all, know this. This place plays their music LOUD. Which forces people in the restaurant to yell or talk at the top of their lungs which adds to the noise in this place. Which is a weird situation to have to deal with at LUNCH. I was not able to have a normal conversation with the people at my table. Also, the tables at our area were very close together, which added the noise. Our "waitress" was mostly non-existent, she appeared to be training another waitress. She came to our table a few times when we first showed up, but after that I had to flag her down or ask someone to get her. We started out ordering the queso for our chips. Queso is 13$, which was a waste, because once the queso was brought out, no one brought more chips, so we wasted almost half of the queso. Cool, thanks! I had to flag the "waitress" down to place our order, it took about 25 minutes to get our food. The guy delivering our food could not navigate close enough to our table to lay the plates on the table, so he handed them out. As he is handing me my plate, I asked him "is it hot?" He said "no". And I realized our food had been sitting out for a while. I ordered the smothered burrito, which is 20$, and a waste of money. The burrito is small. Maybe 5-6 inches long, and didn't have a lot of filling. And the burrito was weird, the inside seemed to be overcooked, but everything else was undercooked. The food was warm, but not hot. The rice and refried beans are OK, but nothing special, and I have had better from a can or box. The burrito was plain bad. The vegetables were soggy and lacked flavor. Either they were frozen, or cooked a while back, or maybe how they cook the vegetables, I don't know. The meat was a weird cut of meat that was not great. I ate about half burrito and realized I was eating a 20$ plate of slop, and just gave up. I gave the "waitress" a 20% tip, out of pity. Overall, it looked like management took the day off, and I get it. This is a spot for Friday and Saturday night, where people drink, and they are too inebriated to realize how bad the food is. I will never go here again, and I advise no one to go here for lunch, on any day. The really sad thing is. I live in Grand Prairie, and I know of about 5-6 Mom and Pop local Mexican spots located in gas stations or strip malls or (wherever), where the food, freshness, service, and value is 100% better...
Read moreBad signs as soon as we got to check in. No one greets you so you have to wonder who you’re supposed to check in with. Once we went to check in they asked us to tell them when 80% of our group was there so they could set our table. We told them we were all present. We waited then went back to ask how long and the person told us to tell them when 80% of our group was there. So apparently we were waiting for no reason as they hadn’t done anything. Finally we got our table. Part of our group had 3 orders of the avocado taco which clearly has on the menu that it has southwestern crema. The tacos were dry and we told the waiter it had no sauce that’s supposed to be on it. The waiter said it doesn’t have any. We told the waiter again to check with the cook because it is supposed to have southwestern crema. The waiter came back and said it does not have that on the menu which was a clear lie. It is even on their online menu as well. Maybe the cooks should learn the ingredients of their dishes. The tacos were almost $17 each and no one ate them because they were so dry. Could’ve been a good meal but it wasn’t. We spent $300+ total and we had to go to another Resteraunt so the 3 people could have a good meal in our group that ordered the tacos.
Another issue was we had 3 veggie enchilada orders. 1 of them had no spinach. When it came he brought 5 orders and was irritated when we told him we only ordered 3. The other 2 were for another table. He also didn’t know which one didn’t have spinach and told us we would have to open it up to see which one it is. One of the meals had no vegetarian beans which we didn’t want and told him to delete and he replied “just scrape it off”. He bragged about how easier it is with the mobile device he used to take our order but most of our orders were completely wrong. Our party didn’t want to order anything further from Vidorra because of this bad experience and the waiter correcting us as if are retarded and can’t read a menu. We went to another Resteraunt right after to have a better dining experience. I wouldn’t come back. The food was also flavorless combined with the cluelessness of the initial check in and then the food not having what it says on the menu was the final straw. From beginning to end it was a bad experience. There was no redeeming quality in this Resteraunt. Would love to see it replaced with another Mexican Resteraunt operated by someone that knows how to provide service...
