On Thursday, October 5, 2023, my daughter, a friend, and I entered the Main Event at 3106 S Hwy 161, Grand Prairie, TX for what we believed would be a fun-filled evening of wholesome fun, but unfortunately unraveled as a very offensive series of unfortunate events. It started with us reporting to the desk where we weren't really acknowledged or greeted, but rather "seen" by Kevin, who sold my daughter a fun card, but failed to assist us in obtaining seating in the restaurant. In other words, he treated us like we were non-existent. From there we stood at the entrance of the restaurant, where after a minute or so we were asked if we would like to sit anywhere by Lindsey. We chose a seat and proceeded to share our drink orders and then our meal orders. We were indecisive. Another individual brought our drinks. We finally decided to change our order, but rather than wait on us Lindsey gave her attention to a Hispanic couple that arrived a long while after us. I was confused because we thought she just walked away to cancel our order and get our new order, but instead she ignored us and went to the Hispanic couple. In my frustration, I asked why she had ignored us and failed to get the correct order. She ignores me and goes on to fulfill the order of the couple. At some point, two Hispanic women entered and she greeted and seated them. She finally comes to get our order, but she is crass and nasty because I have confronted her about her actions toward us as we had not given her any reason to behave so prejudiced. From that point forward someone else brought our food and drinks. She no longer acknowledged our presence and failed to check in on our table to refill any drinks. At this point I am upset, but later become livid, because we have consumed our food, have not obtained refills, and were made to sit for over 45 minutes waiting to receive a ticket to close out our tab. Now, I'm livid and tell them we should just walk out, but my daughter decides to go to Kevin, who tells us he is the manager. He is very dismissive. Suddenly, Lindsey appears and is seeking payment and I express that we are not paying her for the service. Kevin explains that he's management, after I've asked for management to express the extremely discriminatory acts that have occurred. He is dismissive and allowing Lindsey to speak to us in a very ill-manner, which then causes me to erupt and curse her. I am asking Kevin for his name and the corporate number, of which he refuses to share his name and tells me "There is no corporate number." I begin taking their pictures so that when I report the incident I show them the individuals involved. Lindsey tries to hide her face. A young black male, Moe, then walks up as I am taking pictures and asks me what is going on. He asks me to share what has transpired and I do. He asks if I will finish the conversation in the office and I am happy to oblige. I finish with him what has occurred and he explains that he is apologetic and comps our meals and drinks. He provides me with your card and information as well as a few cards for laser tag and bowling, of which I express my gratitude. He really attempted to go the extra mile to compensate us for the young lady's hateful acts. I have been coming to this establishment with my children and my company and was shocked to be treated in such a hostile manner by Lindsey. I am clear that prejudice and hatred exist, but they should not be displayed toward paying customers at any time by an individual that represents a company, especially a family oriented company. I, my children, family, friends, and co-workers of color frequent this establishment and it is sad to see such a young Hispanic female have such disparaging issues towards African-American women, especially without cause, rhyme, or reason.

Mainevent is a JOKE! We got there around 4:30 and left around 7:15 and luckily we did at the time. When we got there, it was going good until there was a giant spill on the floor in the arcade area that hadn’t been cleaned up until we left! We tried ordering from the Snack bar thinking we would receive a text saying it would be done or the number would be called but no. The order had been sitting out on the counter with nobody there for like 10 min . I told an employee that me and my boyfriend’s food was just sitting out and the employee was like “oh😒”. I also asked him if we could have our cups because we didn’t get any and he said “I’ll get you sprite”. Like what??? Literally I just asked for cups because the machine was already right next to me and I could just fill it up myself. The pizza was gross, fries were a joke, and when we bought an hour of bowling my shoes and Velcro were completely worn out (the second pair I got were also bad). We paid for laser tag and when it was time they didn’t even ask for my name and just let us in. I had my bag with me and he said to just put it on the counter. You would think they would have lockers or cubbies or something (Laser tag was pretty fun though). When 7 hit, MANY groups of teenagers just came pouring in with so many sitting on machines, blocking the games, all grouped in the bathroom, smoking their vapes and no one telling them anything. The most of the staff looked like they did not want to be there (except the lady who did the purchases in the front she was nice and patient). They need to have more security there or something because it just sucks the fun for everyone if there’s just so many kids with no parent or guardian and aren’t even there to have fun. My boyfriend heard from one of the teenagers that some of them came to fight. On top of it all the place is really dirty. My boyfriend and I left early because it was honestly ridiculous. Will not be back! Also parents please know that there is a curfew for Mainevent after a certain time so please do not just drop them off because they can and will get kicked out. (Even though today the staff were not kicking most of them out). The place needs to be run better!

The Main Event has lots going for it, mostly it's a fun environment with lots of eye catching attention (Primary Colors Galore) grabbers. It has plenty to offer, bowling, video games, climbing endeavors, food and drinks. The set up may be confusing to those just walking in, in fact most of the people who walk in for the first time just stop near the front door and try to gather in everything. Mom's on a budget might want to clench their purses and go across the street to Chicken Pickle cause this place is gonna clean you out - if you don't apply firm fiscal disciplines. Someone has to pay for this flashy real estate. The bowling alley is fun and reasonable. Bumpers for the little ones and reasonably priced. The gaming systems are over priced and often not working properly and like a lot of arcades, its hard to find an employee to help with a broken game. The kids will have fun because if a game is not working for a kid - well they just move on to the next game. The stressors of broken arcade games is an adult/parental stress. Speaking of stress, if you are a dad who likes to let the kids have fun while you sneak up to the bar and have have a drink, this place isn't for you. Bartending services here are laughably slow and seemingly dimwitted - I had to explain to my bartender "T-Bone" that the drink I asked for a "Vodka Splash" was advertised with pictures all over the place and even on a monitor screen display but he had no idea what it was. I intuitively changed my drink order and I then walked him through a Whiskey Sour and was treated to some of the slowest service I have ever experienced at a bar. I waited over 20 minutes for my drink and I was the only one there. My second order was a draft beer and T- Bone said the draft was spent, that's ok I said, "So is my patience". Because of the way the bartender ran the bar we decided not to eat at The Main Event, my hunch is that the business model of a place like that is one of automation and not really service or hospitality.

I don’t even know where to begin to describe how much of a cluster our experience here was. We had a party of 11 and we came to have dinner and play some games. The restaurant is where we started and where it all went downhill. Our waiter came promptly and we placed orders for drinks and food all at our first encounter, a bit odd but I understand they want you out there spending money on games, no big deal. After about 15 minutes, half of our drinks arrived. We assumed he was going to get the other drinks when he left. Another 15 to 20 minutes or so passes and he arrives with 4 of the total 10 meals we ordered. We asked about the drinks for the rest of our group that have now been here 30-35 minutes without drinks and he said they ran out of cups and we will have them shortly. Another 15 minutes or so later, he arrived with 5 more meals, so we are still missing 1 and still half our group has no drinks. At this point we are highly frustrated and we tell him just give us to go cups or something, we have been here 45-50 minutes already and half our group hasn’t had a drink the entire time. Finally, another 5 minutes or so later, they get our drinks and luckily those of us that needed refills finally get them pretty quickly. However, still missing our last meal for a young girl that is now getting upset that the entire group is nearly done eating and she hasn’t even gotten her plate. 5-10 minutes go by, still no meal. The waiter shows back up and asks us if we are ready to cash out, we remind him we are still missing a meal and he said they are just about done with it and he will bring it right out. He proceeds to cash us out and we are now paying for a meal before we even receive it, which blows our mind! We did receive the meal around 10 minutes later after paying, but at this point all the kids are ready to move on so that left 1 young kid in our group there to eat with her mom while everyone else went out to play. They gave us some cards for free playing time as condolence but you couldn’t play all the games with it and you couldn’t earn any tickets on the games with it, so it kind of ruined the gaming experience even if it did save us some money. They also gave us some free bowling and laser tag cards but it only covered a few players and not the whole group which we were all inconvenienced by this and also 2 of the laser tag guns wouldn’t work and we had to keep going back to the front desk to get our guns fixed, just for them to stop working again a few minutes later.

Overall, terrible experience and that restaurant area is in need of a good manager. They have food on the menu that is fast to cook and they should be cranking people out of the restaurant area as fast as possible to get them spending money on games, not sitting there for an hour and a half. You would think they would have comp’d or discounted some of the meals after all that, and they probably would have if we wanted to raise a stink but by that point we just wanted out of that restaurant and to go play some games which is the whole reason...

My husband and I hardly ever get a chance to go on a fun date night with three kids.

The one night out of the week we do our experience was the worst of all !

We walked in , and there was only one person checking in for the event . We waited in line about 15 to 20 minutes. Ok, cool.

We had a reservation and still had 20 minutes before we went to our bowling lane . I said why not and went to the bar to see if we can order some appetizers. The lady told me that I would have to go to one of the four waiters that were sitting down chitchatting because they never do anything, and she always has to force them to do something. (Bartender was nice BTW)

I went up to them to ask if someone was going to take our order , all four of them looked at me like I was crazy. One of them finally agree to be our waiter.. that’s right agreed. We ordered a small appetizer. We paid once our bowling alley was ready. My friend told the lady she’s just gonna go ahead and order more at the bowling alley. The lady literally turned around with an attitude and walked away, did not say anything. (Keep in mind, when I paid for my order , I STILL TIPPED HER)

Fast-forward we are in the lane getting ready to bowl. When they gave us our lane, it was broke . When they came to fix it, we asked for our waiter, she said she would get them, did she come back? NO! literally no one came to check on us 24 min in. We waited a little bit longer before we actually asked for a waiter AGAIN, Someone finally came and said they were going to get our original waiter.. fast forward, we finally ordered 4 drinks, SODA! Did we get them, NOPE, not until 15 min left of the game.

Oh & get this, we ask to speak to a manager within that time frame, did the manager come? NOPE! We had to come to Him! (At the END OF THE GAME)

The manager was understandable and apologetic. However, the waiter came up to us during the conversation with the manager. We told him about our experience, and said we wouldn’t pay for the drinks . The waiters response “why, “ we told him why, and he said “what does that have to do with me” then looked at all of us and said, “well ima let him handle yall, and ima catch yall later, and threw up the piece sign!!” IN FRONT OF HIS MANAGER!!!

Didn’t even bother to apologize!!

His manager apologized for him and said he would take care of the 4 sodas! I’m assuming because he witnessed the behavior in front of his face!!!

I understand kids work here, however, I’m pretty sure they at least get some type of training to not treat their customers like this. If they don’t , they are failing these kids.!
