China City — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

i been going down there for years and all they do is disrespect their customers and hover around them when theyre getting food from the buffet my sister ordered from there and by the time she got down there the lady that was working there told disrespectfully that her order wasnt done and she told her calmly to not be disrespectful only to get rice thrown at her.... years later i took my mom there to calm her down cause she was going through something serious at the time and all that those people did to us there was hover us my mom asked em if they had a problem and the lady working there told us we needed to leave and we wasnt there for that long so my mom took her food to go and they told us we couldnt leave with the food..... my mom tried to talk it out with them tried to be civilized and they called her crazy and i told them they were rude and disrespectful and if thats the way they were gonna treat there customers then they didnt need to be in business i got some advice for you you want the same type of food they got here? go to hong kong express its on fulton street its got the same menu as they do and if youre feeling disrespected...

My experience today was bizarre and unbelievable. When I pulled up in parking lot kitchen workers were outside folding boxes and placing in garbage, etc.While I was at the counter one of the workers who were outside came inside and went into kitchen and started mixing spices. I was standing at the counter and said to the lady taking my order, I didn't see him wash his hands. She started yelling something and said he did. She said she didn't want any trouble and refused to take my order. I called back and informed her that I had a right to ask why he didn't wash his hands. She went off. She was screaming in the phone, calling me crazy, and saying I had a problem. She kept saying the worker said he knew me and I always cause trouble. I had never in my life seen him before. I've never experienced anything like that before. But the bigger problem is the fact she kept saying you black people... And I do plan on following up on this. I will never go...

This place has been a favorite of mine for years! Unfortunately I don't live very close anymore. Yesterday I knew I was going to be in the area so I made my visit a must! As usual, they did not disappoint! The service was great as always and my order was ready when promised. Their business seems to be flourishing amongst the pandemic. They do a great job promoting appropriate safety precautions. I had to make a few stops on the way home so my food sat for almost an hour before I had a chance to eat it. When I tell you that my food was STILL HOT and tasted just as fresh as I'm sure it had an hour earlier, I am not exaggerating! The presentation of my meal was pristine and the food was beyond delicious! To add, their price's cannot be beat! Do yourselves a favor...
