I usually only write reviews when the place I visit is fantastic. I’m an optimistic, glass half full, the world is rose colored type of person. Not this time.
Me and my partner ordered ahead online through the app on my phone at about 10:30, scheduled it for curbside pickup, parked in the designated pick up spot, put the number in the app, and sat and waited.
10 minutes go by. No big deal, they have a long line in the drive through I’m sure everyone’s order is taking a minute.
5 more minutes go by. We’re getting a little antsy since this is a fast food establishment, many cars now have gone through the drive through, and the app had said it would take about 10 minutes, but still no worries. It’s a pandemic still, people are short staffed and underpaid. It’ll be out soon.
Another 10 minutes go by. Nothing. At this point my partner had gone inside to see what was going on. What was the hold up. Inside he was greeted by a large amount of people working for DoorDash, all waiting on the orders they were to pickup, and the rudest staff. When he asked about the wait and why it was taking so long the person working the counter yelled at him telling him he needed to be patient and to go wait in the car. So he went back to the car.
5 more minutes go by. If you haven’t been keeping track, the time is now around 11:00. A full half hour after we had initially ordered and parked. My partner now goes back inside to see if there was any progress, and there he sees our order sitting on the counter getting cold. The person who had yelled at him previously now yelled at him again, this time asking where he went. He told them that he went back to his car because that’s what he was told. The person working the front then yelled at him telling him that he needed to stay inside. You might recall that it was mentioned earlier and also two sentences ago that he was told to wait at his car by this very same person.
At 11:05, food in hand, he returned to the car. Everything was correct, albeit the whipped cream on my frappe had completely melted into the drink and it was no longer frozen.
Again. I am not one to complain. Especially about food service. I try my hardest to not be a Karen and demand unreasonable requests of people being paid minimum wage, but I do not think that asking for my food to come to the agreed upon spot in less than 30 minutes from a fast food restaurant and NOT be yelled at by the staff for wondering why it’s taking so long is that unreasonable of a request. I truly don’t.
I understand that when I go to McDonald’s I’m not going to a 5 Michelin star chef with top quality service. But I expect to at least have a halfway decent experience where I can walk away not feeling disrespected. Michigan street McDonald’s is quite possibly the worst place I have ever been to. I’m not sure what is going on with this branch but something...
Read more11-6 over 12 minutes today for a single breakfast sandwich. And to top it all off I forgot to check my order before leaving the restaurant. Of course I got THE WRONG SANDWICH. I don't know if the kitchen wrapped it incorrectly or the counter expediter messed up. But in what world is a chicken biscuit even REMOTELY close to a sausage egg and cheese biscuit. AND THEY STILL GOT IT WRONG. AND IT WAS THE MANAGER WORKING THE FOOD LINE. BECAUSE I HEARD HIM TELL HER A SAUSAGE EGG AND CHEESE BISCUIT. Nothing like it taking almost 30 minutes to get a sandwich somewhat like what you ordered. 👎👎👎 And while I stood there waiting they served 11 cars thru the drive thru. But again management or corporate doesn't care about the people who actually come into the restaurant. It's all about fast drive thru which generally means incorrect orders and customers to busy to check or come inside to have it fixed. Next visit I think I'll order curbside and film all the cars they serve thru the drive thru while I wait.
11-2 More evidence on how slow this location is. 10 minutes for a 6 piece nuggets and 7 minutes for a small fry. And do you think McDonald's corporate will do anything? Nope. Management? Nope That's one of the reasons McDonald's has FAR surpassed Taco Bell as the chain with the worst service. Especially since almost EVERYTHING is pre cooked and just needs to be thrown together.
9-26-24: All new low today waited almost 20 minutes for my food THAT I ORDERED AHEAD but the managers 5 children didn't seem to have wait. The 14 drive thru ordera to 4 orders counter orders. These corporate McDonald's are the absolute WORST. You would think that they would be the best of the best but nope.
I stopped in to pick up a To-go order and while I was waiting for it another customer came in with his drive thru order. Both sandwiches were made incorrectly. BUT specifically the Big Mac had NOTHING AT ALL BETWEEN THE TOP BUN AND THE MIDDLE BUN. And the manager literally told him to his face that's how a Big Mac is made. And when I stood up to her on his behalf she got rude with me called the other manager over who also was rude and insisted that that was how a Big Mac was made. Even though I showed them a picture on the app of what a Big Mac looks like a picture on the wall of what a Big Mac looks like. She insisted she had gone to SCHOOL to learn how to make a Big Mac. And then simply because I pointed out that they were wrong they refused me service. But I must be saying things I mean the picture that I'm going to add here definitely shows something between the top bun and the middle bun. Plus I've had a few Big Macs over the last 40 YEARS. This is why these restaurants are losing money. They charge you an arm and a leg and then they pay almost nothing and attract incompetent...
Read moreI've lived in Ionia for 3years. The first year it was McDonald's as usual. They get your order right and it tastes like any other McDonald's. The last year I have tried several burgers in iona. Price is close and tastes are better. Hours dictate some orders, while convince takes priority on ordering elsewhere. Lately I have ordered and paid for my meals using my application on my phone. Worked well enough for the last year until the last two times. Early this year I ordered a family full of food. Waited for 30 minutes outside in slot 4 for my meal before going inside. They had no clue what happened to my meal. Enough though they were understaffed, my meal was filled in minutes. Correctly. Last week I was craving McDonald's for 3 days and told my wife she could have anything else to eat ( not a fan of fast food) but I needed a mickyD fix. I ordered and paid through the app and waited. Next thing I noticed is drive thru cars being told to pull ahead and park. After 10 minutes a phone app order disappears from the order screen inside the store and a thank you for your order pops up on your phone. Once again I go inside to see if my order was being bagged. It was and I caught the employee that was taking it out to my car. I told her thank you and took my order home. This time did it not only take me going inside the lobby but, they got the order wrong. I eat fast food because I don't want to wait to cook. I don't expect anything else but it be correct and contain what I ordered. Understaffed or whatever the reason, I will understand the delay. To get a back order wrong under these circumstances is bad for business. I have reported both problems to corporate and received the same generated email responses. Sorry, we value your business and have forward your email to the store in question. The last order contained not only the wrong food but was $4.00 less food than I paid. I have heard nothing from the store on either complaint. I did tell them that I might not make a difference in the yearly sales, I will not be back. Ionia is a small town. I don't have to try very hard to make folks think twice before going to McDonald's instead of another fast food place. BTW, three more fast food business are being built in this town within the next 6 months. That alone can hurt...
