Hastings Cafe — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

I have been here a good handful of times and wondered why it's always so dead inside. The food is delicious but extremely expensive; I usually spend 25 dollars on a panini and a drink, so I can't be coming here regularly. The girl taking orders is not friendly at all, like I interrupted her standing in the back on her phone by coming into the cafe. There's also always an obscene amount of flies inside. While I study I'm constantly swatting them away from my table. The music is also pretty loud, so it can be a bit much if you're studying and don't like what they play. Overall a 3/5 experience. Love love love! I work from home almost every day, and I struggle to find a place to sit in most of the coffee shops nearby. I come here to work at least once a week!

Some notes: • There is so much space! Plenty of different kinds of chairs and seating options. • Quiet ambiance - although I think it's because they're new and do hope they get enough business to stay open. • Coffee is great! So they're removing the overnight oats, which prompted this review. I live right down the street. I'm GF and Dairy free, and so this is pretty much the only healthy thing I can eat there.
