During our travels, we like to try new places to eat at. It is rare that we try a new place for breakfast as we usually stay at hotels and motels that offer their very unique versions of “The continental breakfast”.

This time we decided we wanted a heartier, more…complete breakfast. So we left our hotel and drove toward Bend hoping to find a nice place to eat along the way. Enter Elmer’s in Grants Pass.

As we were driving my lovely navigator, asked her friend Siri to suggest a good breakfast restaurant. Siri’s top suggestion of Elmer’s peaked my wife’s interest and thus, we made our way there.

Once there, the building seemed no different or more special than the IHOPs of old or the Sharis across the street. The only hint that gave away its ability to win “…the Best Breakfast place in Grants Pass…”, according to reviews, was a completely full parking lot.

Summoning my best knight rider impersonation, I quickly and deftly pulled into the parking lot just in time to find a vehicle leaving its spot open for us. We parked and entered the building, all chuffed that we didn’t have to wait long.

Once inside, we were warmly welcomed and brought to our table. Wishing a minute or two, our server brought us menus and asked what we wanted to drink. We made our choices and another couple of minutes later, our food came out, warm and smelling delicious!

I honestly can’t remember the name of what we chose; all I remember is that her choice had the word ‘farmer’ in hers and mine had avocado. Well, the moment of truth came to us and, wow! Good breakfast indeed.

Their hash browns are grated from fresh potatoes and pan-fried to a golden, crisp brown which is so difficult to get…

My very, very big, three-egg omelette was replete with deliciously melted cheese and smoked, chipotle-infused bacon and coupled with the fresh fluffy eggs and avocado was, heavenly. Of course it needed a little kick but that is just ‘cause I need to put hot sauce on everything!

My wife’s farmer breakfast was huge!!! Tons of hash, two over-easy eggs, two links of turkey sausage, two strips of bacon and two slices of the juiciest ham I’ve ever had. (Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it was too much for her and me being the nice guy that I am, helped her.)

She found the coffee to be mediocre but still better that this she’d had at hotels. My orange juice was fresh-squeezed and chilled to perfection.

Price point was good. Definitely worth the breakfasts. Service was excellent and friendly throughout.

Will we come back? Maybe. But that’s just ‘cause we try to not go to the same place twice. Food here is good...

It's been another year since I was last able to visit family, and Elmer's. This time it was for the Jam & Tillamook Cheese Omelette. Melissa again recognized me and ensured that I had plenty of water for my medical condition and this time around TERESA provided excellent customer service in taking and delivering my order. I hope to make it in again before I leave for my favorite sandwich of all time: the Cascade Club. (Thanksgiving 2024). It's been a year since I was last in Grant's Pass and my first day here on this visit I had to get my Cascade Club sandwich fix... Still as delicious as ever and this time we had the pleasure of having NILAWAN as our server. Aside from the delicious food, she kept my water glass full. (Medical condition requiring water to swallow food.) As before, still tasty food, modest prices and superior service!

It's been 8 months since our last visit. Had another delicious Cascade Club sandwich and the grand-kids had an assortment of meals from the kids menu. SHELLY did a fantastic job of serving us and keeping my water glass full. (I've had throat cancer and need water to swallow food.) Delicious food, reasonable prices and excellent service!

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: We visit family in Grant's Pass several times a year. They introduced us to Elmer's and it has become my favorite restaurant in the area. I love their breakfasts and their Cascade Club sandwich has become my favorite lunch or dinner choice. Because of Covid I had not been to Elmer's in almost a year. I was delighted to find that Melissa (a manager) recognized me and my need for water with my meal. (Medical condition - the Elmer's staff has never left me with an empty glass of water!) A special thank you to waitpersons Debbie and Hope, both of whom also remembered me and provided excellent service on my most recent two visits (over the last 4 days). Late yesterday morning I decided to go over to Elmer's for breakfast. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food, figuring today would be no less. After I was seated, waiting for my food, I noticed slight commotion at the front counter. Normally, this would not be an issue as everyone attempted to maintain a baseline of professionalism, however it did cause a bit of disruption in bringing food out to the tables in a timely manner. I decided to step out of my normal, and order the Steak and Eggs. I ordered my steak rare, and it came to the table Bleu and cold in the middle. I don't have a problem with a steak cooked Bleu, however I was very unappreciative of the fact the steak was Cold to the touch in the middle. As I was attempting to enjoy my steak, I found myself gazing upon further commotion at the register, where a woman in a dark grey sweater, cornering an employee at the register while seemingly scolding her. This went on for several minutes, dismissing my appetite altogether. I did not come to a restaurant to witness abuse of power with my coffee. Once I got to the counter, the woman who was being scolded seemed rather distraught and tense, but maintained her professionalism. I then asked the lady what the womans name was that had cornered her for a conversation. I proceed to find out this was the general manager, Melissa. I am appalled that a general manager would conduct herself in such a manner. There is a time and a place for conversations, in front of customers is truly not the place.
