We were shockingly disappointed in our visit here. The decor is outstanding and many things caught our eye from the decorative front doors to the warm tones of the wood and who could miss the amazingly painted pumpkin as you walk into the upstairs dining room? We were seated by the window, but as it was night, there wasn't much of a view of the river however, I'm sure it's quite a lovely view during the day. Our server arrived in reasonable time, was polite, engaging and took our orders promptly. The menu is succinct but each of the items on the menu tease the taste buds and made choosing my meal difficult. I opted for the 12oz prime rib with a side of creamed spinach and salad. My companion opted for one of the delicious sounding burger specials. The food arrived after a bit of a wait and at first glance, looked delicious (picture attached). I started to cut into the prime rib and that's when the first warning sign appeared. The first bite was not even slightly warm. I took a closer look at the prime rib and noticed that the fat in the cut wasn't soft. It was still firm and cold. The vegetables were mildly warm but at least the creamed spinach was hot (and quite full of flavor). Even though cold, the prime rib was flavorful and the au ju and horseradish ok. I will note that I did mention to the waiter that be the meat was cold but that I would eat it. I was hungry from traveling all day and after all, who hasn't eaten a cold steak the day after a BBQ. The only time our glasses were refilled was when the food was brought out. After we were done eating, it took another 30 minutes from the time our plates were cleared to have the check brought to the table and another 12 minutes after that to have the receipts brought back. All in all, a very poor experience. I hope that other reviewers have a better experience, but this will not be a place I will be coming back to on my next trip through Grant's Pass.

I'll start off by saying after reading some of the reviews we were going to pass on going here! After talking to the front desk attendant at our hotel though, we decided to give it a try. We were seated within 10 minutes at a table right by the window with a beautiful view. We started off a little apprehensive because under our table was fairly messy (which is why only 4 stars instead of 5)Our waiter, which I had seen on other reviews, was BLADE. He was very friendly and attentive! My husaband ordered the Blue Cheese Burger and I got the Fish and Chips. They were both very good and portion size was quite large. I don't know why some of the reviews said they were small?? Those people must eat ALOT!! I ended up having to take some home! Oh we also got the Dynamite Rolls as an appetizer. They were a tad bit spicy for me but I am a wimp with spice so I would say to get them for sure because I was still able to power though them..lol..since they were so tasty! The drinks we got were tasty too. I got the Lavender Tart and my husband got the Havana Feathers. His packed a good punch of alcohol for sure. Mine was just right! All in all I would say to give it a try and make up your own mind. Maybe it's the time of day we went? It was about 8:00 in the evening. Or maybe we just got them on a good day? Not sure but again we were pleasantly surprised with our food and service!! We would definitely return!

Awesome location on the river. Great for a long lunch or dinner...get there early and watch the sunset! It was too chilly when I was there for the outdoor patio, but that looks ideal for the summer. Great decor inside and outside...awesome scratched metal work on the elevator and kitchen doors (even on the paper towel holders in the rest rooms!!). I personally prefer the downstairs bar area. Great Happy Hour from 3-6pm with half off appetizers. Definitely try their flatbread!! Holy cow was it good! 💙 Edit - I’ve now been three times since my original post above. The whole experience has gone down hill. The simple flatbread hasn’t been good since the first time I had it. The toppings have been cut in half, and today’s flatbread was not only sparse, but the chicken was completely dried out and crunchy. Other than a great wine pour, the bartender mostly complains about or flirts with her co-workers, totally dismissing her customers and being present. My opinion of this place has tanked. My suggestion: Get your employees trained and focused ONLY on the customer, and get the service consistent. This place is seemingly falling apart in the short 2 months I’ve experienced it.

Update as of Oct. 8, 2022 I have reached out several times to the link given in the reply from Donnie T. from Business Customer Service and I have still not heard a word from anyone at Taprock Northwest Grill. Seems that as a whole they really do not care.

Update as of 6/20/2022 If you read this review and notice that Donnie T. from Business Customer Service has contacted me and asked me to contact the manager, I completed this with-in an hour of being asked to. It is now a week later and I have not heard from the manager. So it appears that they will respond to reviews in ways that make it appear as if they are working with complaints while hiding that they are not. If I hear from them directly I will update again.

We, a party of 3, went here for a nice meal while we were in town. We were seated quickly and the hostess was very nice. After we were sat the waitress came over to check on us and get our drink orders. When she brought our drinks she took our food order. About 45 minutes to an hour later we still didn't have our meals and hadn't really seen our waitress either. When our meals did arrive one was completely wrong and the person in our group who's order it was asked to just leave the wrong food because there was no way we were going to wait for the correct food. Another person in our party didn't receive part of their meal, the side salad that is supposed to come with the meal. The third person in our party ordered what was listed in the menu as a Kobe hamburger. I have to say it tasted like any 80/20 mass produced and frozen hamburger patty that has been freezer burnt and stored way too long. When we received our food was the last time we saw our waitress until well after we had eaten our food. Not just not coming to check on us but not even seen walking through the room. When she did walk through the room and saw that I was trying to get her attention she gave me the 1 minute gesture with her finger. It was probably 15 minutes or more later by the time we saw her at our table. When we tried to explain the issues with our meals we were offered a salad to go, not helpful when traveling in a car, and no response on the extreme sub par hamburger. Yes they did make good on the completely wrong order but that was it. I had absolutely nothing to drink with my meal the entire time because my water was never refilled after getting my meal. There was a male waiter in the dinning room as well and he was very attentive to his tables and the customers at those tables were well taken care of. All told our ordeal took almost 2 hours start to finish for sub par, incomplete and wrong food. Sad to say I cannot recommend...

Me and my wife drove from Medford to tap rock because we heard Cartwrights bought it and we love them. When we walked in we could see that they were not busy it was July 5th and we were there for an early dinner 4pm but we didn’t have a reservation. This is where the problem started there were 3 hostess standing there and when we walked up they seemed irritated that we didn’t have a reservation. I asked if we could sit outside they said since we didn’t have a reservation that we could only sit downstairs inside. I said ok and no one went with us to be seated they just stayed there and talked. When we got downstairs we could see that there were like 6 empty tables outside. So I went back upstairs to the hostess station. When I got there another couple walked up and said they didn’t have reservations but were wondering if they could sit outside. The same hostesses said of course follow me. I then walked up and said I thought you said you need a reservation to sit outside. She said well we had an available table. So I asked do you have any other available tables cause it looks like there’s at least 6. She said with a pissed off look well I’ll have to look. I said ok can you. Then she said yeah I guess I have one. Then said to follow her, she didn’t say one thing while we walked downstairs and outside to the table. Except when we got to the table she said well will be right there with you in a sarcastic way. I knew we were screwed it was hot that day but we had no water or drinks all we had were menus. We sat there watching as waitresses walked passed us. Me and my wife sat there for 20 min with nothing before we decided to get up and leave. As we were leaving a waitress finally walked out with 2 waters and saw us and said you leaving. I responded with yes no one helped us so we’re good. So I can’t judge the food cause we never got any. They actually saved me about $100 dollars that I was going to spend there because we ended up eating at Taco Bell for $15 cause the experience made us not want to got to another restaurant. I have worked in the service and hospitality business for 20 years I have never written a review but the attitude those 3 hostesses gave me and my wife was enough to never go back. This review is just to let whoever is in charge know the experience starts with the hostesses and if it’s bad right away your setting up the customer to already be disappointed. Beautiful place and location...
