I've been going to this place for long enough that I realized they really deserve a review! For a place with a limited menu I can say that what they do, they do well and pretty damn consistently. As my husband is gluten intolerant, Taroko has been a truly awesome find when we're in the mood for something Asian. The Pattaya Chicken is made gluten free by design, the stir frys can be requested gluten free where they use gluten free soy sauce. Some other dishes are also gluten free already or some finishing sauces can be excluded to make it gluten free. The staff is knowledgeable and accommodating and very happy to comply with food allergies where possible. The staff here is always so welcoming and in great spirits! Not being gluten intolerant myself, I always enjoy getting the J Pops, they really hit the spot. However sometimes they can be a lot more spicy than other times (maybe some seeds got left behind? I dunno...) So that's something to be aware of if you're sensitive to spicy food. The avocado bomb, potstickers, and chicken satay are also always on point. The dining room is very cozy with only a handful of tables and limited bar seating, so unless you're looking to partake in their lovely array of alcoholic indulgences I highly recommend getting your order to go. Their food travels pretty well and they give you condiments and utensils as needed. Anyway, just a fantastic gem in Grants Pass where good, unique cuisine with gluten free options is a difficult thing to find! Thank you...
Read moreGood food. I especially like the tempura because it’s brocolli and mushroom which are my two favs. The calamari is the best I’ve ever had. I suggest that if you order the beef and broccoli to ask for light on the oil because last time I ordered it it was very greasy. But that only has happened 1/3 times I’ve had it. I’d also ask that they cook the broccoli longer because it seems to come out practically raw the last couple times and who wants beef and broccoli with raw broccoli? It’s also pretty salty, and I like salt... The chicken stir fry is very flavorful and yummy but needs more vegetables. Despite that, the customer service is very good from the female servers. I had a male server once and I forgot his name but he wasn’t rude, just not very good at serving.. maybe he was new. The environment is pretty nice. I like that they’re open so late at night. Please note that the menu is small, so if you’re wanting a full blown Chinese restaurant, you won’t find it here. But the food that they do have is pretty good, especially when I ask them too cook it a specific way to avoid raw, salty, greasy food. If they fixed those things (especially added more vegetables to their dishes) I would give them 5...
Read moreWell with covid seating this place sure deserves a better building. First time visit but fairly satisfied and definitely intrigued. I dont live in town but plan to try everything eventually. The service is great but food times are long due to the high demand of take out orders. Staff is wonderful drinks are fantastic. Im impressed. Pickles in the poke was a hard vision as i already knew they would take away my poke pallet and i was right but it was awesome cause i love pickles lol. Could do without as tuna needs to shine. My chicken skewer was spot on not to dry good flavor but my peanut sauce needed some help as it was a dry paste with a thick armor telling me it couldnt breathe. Anyway i drizzled some of my house bali mule drink "excellent " by the way, on it and brought it back to life. So hoping they will fix that because i truly love good peanut sauce. Overall im intrigued. I will absolutely return but im hoping they know they need to own the love of their dishes to meet the prices they charge, and i will be happy to pay if they can meet...
